i havent had a bike for ages but i still miss them...thinking of another one.Yamaha GTS 1000,with a hub centre steering /suspension system or a TDM 900 or BMW R1200 st,1150 rs ,or 1150G/s....also toying with the idea of a st2 or st3 Ductai but i just cant decide...
-
but they are still a service agent arent they?
-
get smg to read the codes or scan or whatever, then get our knowledgeable gurus to interpret.I am sure SMG have a gt1 but imho they dont know what they are looking at.They could not diagnose the problem with the 540 i was looking at

i dont know why your previous post was closed,(i didnt read much after your initial question)but as one of the "older" members you speak of with a stock stock original 1990 car i do not have any problem with cars that are lowered or tinted.BUT when the lowering gets to the extent that your suspension performance is compromised can you see why some people can get annoyed when advice is not taken on board?

large case e34 = m5 or 540 only i think
-
the 540 uses a monster of a gearbox which is actually the same as the M5 i think...its a big lump of metal
-
[flame suit on] any comparable 5 series is a hell of a lot more car than a 3 series...go the 540.[/flame suit on]

have you driven a e 39 540 i6 or E39 M5? How can an auto "suit a car more" A manual car allows much more control ,the right foot is directly linked to the back wheels ie you can use the engine braking much more effectively and hill work is nicer....and dont start spouting off about steptronic.once you start changing gear manually why not have the real deal?My definition of an auto doent include dsg or smg whiich DO have direct mechanical connection between engine and wheels

in the whole time i have been on bimmersport i have seen two....one was the so called snitzer(sorry spelling) in rotorua and the other more recent one in christchurch/invercargill.I still have that guys number i won the auction but the dwal didnt go through..He was gonna look at a couple of issues then try again but i havent seen it on trademe, and my favourite search wouldnt miss it unless it wasnt listed as a manual.PM me if you are interested and i can put you in touch with him.I may even still have some info on my checks on it. Strangely enough i stiill found my e34 535 a very nice car even after Driving Martyns mates E39 540 i6...that is a nice example too

dont think the wheels themselves will be a problem but the tyres arent the same overall diameter http://www.bmwe34.net/Wiki/tiki-index.php?page=Wheels

fwiw mtech setup will give you about 20 mm drop, still have big gap at front, back just over the top of the tyre

fwiw Martyn i got mine from an auto electrician on Waione Street Petone. It was a Hella and exactly right size etc.At the time they were having a "scratchie sale" ie you got a coupon and scrachted your discout I got 15 per cent.I am sure there will be a HELLA auto electrician round town somewhere, not sure how common our size batteries are.
