  1. I never thought of that (gearbox mount different). Just heard of it being done and so thought I coul dod it if I had to. So in that case I'll just try for the shaft then. Gus - so you give me the shaft now and I give you one later when I find one? That could work. i'm in auckland tonight for about an hour - could grab it off you. Where will you be between 8pm and 10pm? just txt me is easiest. It's part # 6 in the digram below
  2. I have the sheet-etal console from the early 320 manuals. Need the straight selector rod from shifter to gearbox. OR the entire shift console/mechanism from a 325 or newer 320 (aluminium cast arm type console) which I can use instead. Will pay reasonable amount. I can make what I have work for about $5 but I'm a perfectionist and jury-rigs do not appeal to me. as with the other bits URGENT.

    Facelift e30

4 door, 325i auto leather, sunroof, OBC, 180+kms Will post up more details and pics on Monday (I'll take some over the weekend). I'll decide how much I want for it by then too. It's not the one in my sig BTW - another on stock springs and bottlecaps. Have king springs that I would be willing to sell with/on the car for extra.

    Quick Questions

You have to have the centre light if your car was first registered in NZ on or after 1/1/1990 so all e30 imports imported after this date and some nz new cars have to have them. The date your car was first registered is shown on the rego sticker as a month/year in smallish print lower right hand side of the sticker.

    Double locking

That article refers to BMW's with factory keyless entry and factory alarms. Therefore it must be referring to models newer than e30 which may have the immobiliser built in to the double locking system. In e30's the fuel door loks with the central locking and double locking locks the doors so that even the interior lock pulls won't work - ie no way to unlock the door without a key or panel puller. The boot can also be isolated from the central locking circuit by turning the key half a turn back after locking the car from the boot. This means if theives do break into your car and operate the door locks, they still won't have access to the boot.

    what is this?

They should ask questkions like that on the BMW nerd test.
  7. wise beyond his years that young man! I watch maybe an hour of tv a week max. And it is invariably motorsport or similar. I would watch more, but I actually don't have the time. too busy doing useful things with my time like pulling apart e30's.

    Double locking

I'd say it doesn't as I have read a couple of articles on the double locking and never heard of it. Could be, but I doubt it.

    Facelift e30

    I've got just what you're after mate. 021 060 8558.
  10. I was, but it looks as though the parts won't be here in time, and I'm away labour weekend, so I'll try do it after work next week, but no promises. All the auto stuff is out, clutch lines plumbed, pedal box in, driveshaft prepped (different carrier bearings between f/l and pre f/l). So as soon as I get my flywheel back from being machined and my clutch etc arrives it should be in that day.
  11. General rule of thumb - all cylinders playing up then its rings or valve guides. 1 cylinder playing up - leaky head gasket. No water in oil not a guarantee its not. clean it out and compression test for peace of mind.
  12. The more pure, the less of a BMW nerd you are. I'm roughly the other way around gary - although only because I've cleaned parts of my engine with a toothbrush...
  13. Every so often someone wants one of these. One is a ZF HP-22 from a 1989 Jap 320. Has a leaking front seal - was good condition before this, but as it empties itself of fluid, it starts to behave badly (as expected) so condition unkown. Other is a ZF HP-22 EH (the electronically controlled one) from a 1990 SA 325. This may mean it will work with the sport/economy swith as it has the cable and wiring connector, but not sure if there were also models of this box that were electronuically controlled without the switch. Works 100%. needs a fluid change. but perfect working order, smooth and responsive. Also have various other auto bits - shifters, linkages, driveshafts, crossmembers, fluid lines, flex plates etc if required. All in excellant cond. $400 would secure everything (both boxes, shifters, lines, the lot) Will be going on TM next week at around the $500 mark.
  14. As above - the microswith and mounting bracket that disables cruise control when the clutch is depressed. URGENT.
  15. I want the small pushrod that contacts the clutch fork. I have a brand new slave cylinder I was given, but the pushrod is missing. So anyone with a buggered slave cyl where the pushrod is still OK, I'll take it off their hands. URGENT.
  16. Because, as the chain email/txt goes: Sex is good, sex is golden, sex is best in the back of a HOLDEN! If you are thick or if you're a whore, become a faggot and f**k in a FORD. explains all.
  17. They are relatively difficult to get. If there is one for sale, it's usually the only one and its usually not for sale for long.
  18. E30 backseat sux. Front passenger seat better. Cloth rates way higher over leather for comfort - but not for cleanup... There I go again - saying too much.
  19. I didn't know Gus was moonlighting in Canterbury as an AA breakdown mechanic! Seriously though, just replace it - its not that expensive or hard to do.
  20. Crusing in my road-legal offroader looking for roadside ditches to and banks to try and drive up. Thinking I'm Barry Crump and attempting the former in 2wd. Driving said 4wd in any sort of town/city centre covered in mud so I can barely see out the windows, with all my bull bars and winch gear and 33" mud-terrains and not letting anyone in knowing they're going to back down as they have more to lose...
  21. e36 318 ti - need I say more? Was slow, cramped, and looked like it had been rammed from behind by a bus. Only took the test drive as I needed to run an errand and the car yard was walking distance from my house. (my apologies to those car salesmen/women out there, but desparate times call for desparate measures).
  22. Is autoseal a sort of clearcoat type product? If not - how do you plan to keep them shiny. They look bad though.
  23. Looks good. Technically your oil cooler will not be quite as effective now as black will allow more heat out, but it's not as if it's pushed hard anyway. You are going to hate it when they start to dull now though I bet!
  24. Technically no - search the forum. There are threads on this.
