    E30 Parts

As said before, I have dealt with him a few times (damn my secret parts supplier is out ) and he is really good and approachable. Has a good knowledge and passion for the cars and so is good to deal with, but it also means he knows what things like LSD's are worth, and since he also sells to joe bmw owner who has no clue, his prices are not bargain basement. They are however fair market value, and he is prepared to offer discounts for multiple purchases, and is willing to negotiate on some items. He was the one with the 15" basket weaves that hit $3k on trademe. I never went to see him that weekend - I sent one of my minions instead - so did you ask him what he actually got for those wheels Grant?

    Car Cleaning

My local valet does a wash for $10 that is very good. Same price as the BP carwash, but by hand instead of machine - pretty cheap. I like to do it myself though, and I simply wet the car down, then use a chamois to wash all of the paint work, windows etc, and a brush for wheels and under guards. Then hose of, rinse and wring out chamois and then dry car to try and stop water spots. Then out with the silicone spray on all the plastic bits and tyres. Once every so often it gets the polish and wax treatment. I have swirls buthey were on the car when I bought it, so I'll have to see if the worsen. Might give scratch-X a wirl.

At the moment, 50% are 21 or below and 50% are 22 and above. Good to know I'm in the top 50%
  5. Ok, Ok you may be right - I never saw the old one so can't compare. All I know is that TG is the best motoring programme on at the mo IMO. Thanks for the link, but since I can't watch it at work and only have 56k at home due to living in a rural area outside all of the broadband suppliers reach, I will have to miss out.
  6. I watch it because I like seeing fast cars going sideways. Who gives a sh*t if the presenter can drive or thinks he is funny. (Although smooth delivery of the presenting is important so you don't go to sleep, and here JC is good. 5th Gear still doesn't thrash the test cars enough - too much chat, not enough blat - nuff said. If I wanted to read the spec sheet I would. If I want to know how the car drives, then I probably am looking at buying one, and I won't be relying on a TV show review to decide - I will actually drive it myself. Hence - I like TG more than 5thG - it appeals to the hoon within. I may not be a connossiuer of car TV, but I know what I like, as trashy as that may be.
  7. Cheers - where can I buy some (other than BMW). Does anybody have any in need of a good home?
  8. Oh yeah - 7.30 I thought it said 1730. OTT is right, but still watchable, so go hard! :mosh:
  9. About farkin time. It's the August 2004 series. Anyway, it was pretty good the only prob is that they are focusing more on the showmanship and jokes than the cars at some times, but otherwise it is the same old TG I love and religiously watch. The first Episode Sunday 6th tested the DB9 and raced a train with it from Surrey to Nice. Also tested the CityRover a rebadged Tata Indica from India, and the Lotus Exige was the supercar round the track - tried to get missile lock on it with an Apache while it drove around the track
  10. I want to put driving lights in the factory location in the front valance. What ones fit? Can someone give me a part no.? Or dimensions? Thanks

In that case, I'd rather have the weaves even at that price lol.

Well, I am pretty sure there are no 100+ members. I thought long and hard about the punishment - has to be something funny and degrading. Maybe I will reconsider if someone thinks of something dunnier - but no point unless we have a 100+ member.

A little confusing, but even at $1100 - still very pricey. Some people just get caught up in the bidding I guess, but really - $3k??? I am going to see the seller about some other parts this afternoon - if they have been collected, I will let you know what was actually paid for them.

    E36 Problems

The gas in AC is freon. It is normal for AC's to have condensation - it is why they also help dehumidify the air too. When the moist air around the unit sools as the aircon unit cools, the water condenses and you get condensation. the more humid the climate, the more condensation. Pink/red is transmission fluid or brake fluid. I am a little bit unsure of why it has gone hard in the shade - unless it is some leftover melted McDonalds or something lol. Can you get some digital pics of said fluid? Otherwise I can't help. The reason why brake disc warp is worse in aussie is partly to do with the heat combined with the large distances to travel I think.

Right, whos the smart arse who pressed 100+ - if there is actually a 100+ member (with a valid birth certificate and photo ID to prove it) I will eat a dog poo and post pictures to prove it. Oh, an they have to have joined before the date and time of this post, so you can get off the phone to your grandparents right now. 22 BTW

This guy rips down E30's as a hobby/business - he has heaps of parts at around market value - no bargains, but about what you expect to pay on the open market. He has about 10-15 E30's in his backyard (lives in Orewa) I bought some bottlecaps off him, and he was really accomodating when one ended up being buckled and another have a small dent we haddn't seen when I picked them up, swapping them with little fuss. Also got a front valance and lip, boot spoiler and bonnet strut, and he gave me a "bulk buy discount" - I think it was $350 for the wheels with 4 OK tyres, the front spolier/valance and lip, rear spoiler (with slightly damaged finish as I told him I was going to paint it so it didn't matter), and the strut. Not too bad i thought esp since I only had to go to one place and only had to deal with one person.
  19. Hi Colin, welcome. Buying off ebay would be very expensive for us in NZ as not many NZ'ers use it (we use a NZ equivalent called Trademe. To buy a set for $150US, think about $270 or so in NZ$ and then prob two to three times that for freight from overseas I would imagine. You can find them on trademe for about $400-$600 a set so very similar (if not cheaper) without the hassle of buying from overseas, esp if they arrive and one is buckled etc (as happened to me buying some wheels in NZ - but at least I was able to take the buckled wheel back as the guy lived only a couple of hours drive away and I go past there on business from time to time, so no prob.) Anyway - look at around the $500 mark I reckon. But then again, for the right wheels in the right cond, and from someone nearby, you might be prepared to pay a little more as you are saving on freight etc. Like the bottlecaps I bought - I paid $150 for the set and they are not exactly top condition - but I was able to pick them up, they came with good tyres (worth $100 IMO anyway) and when one was buckled I was able to return it easily for a swap as he had more, so worth spending $150 when the wheels were prob only worth $50 without tyres.

    BMW Wheels

This site has a good explanation. Essentially, you need to have the correct offset for your vehicle or else the wheels may stick out too far, or alternatively rub on the inside of the wheel well. It will also affect the handling of the vehicle. Front wheel drives have different offsets than rear wheel.

    tyre size?

I'm running 205/60/14 right now on the back as I had some old tyres to wear out - no probs, but then the smaller wheel diameter may help???

    nice...

sh*t bro - calm yoself! hahahaha! Right, to your question: The mirrors are M3 lookalikes The thing below the bonnet is called an eyebrow or eyelid. The lights are elipsoids - you prob have sealed beams if yours are diff - these are easy as they are a factory part. The "WTF" is WTF are you pointing at? [edit] oh that's the tow hook - this is a prefacelift car then - facelift E30's have a screw in one [/edit] Indicators are prob blanked out - you can't do this in NZ - you will have to smoke yours if you want them harder to see. The front kit is Alpina? - someone correct me if I'm wrong. And spend some time reading other posts so you know how to behave and post like someone with half a brain. I don't want to insult you as this is usually a friendly forum which is tolerant to newbies. So take your wee lesson and learn from it. Peace-out my *****!
