Anybody know how to reset the average km/l and average speed on an E46, Cannot seem to find anything that explains how to do this, While on either of the reading pushing or turning either of the knobs makes no difference.

Wow just dropped into Acton Automotive as suggested by Chris and what a great bunch of guys. He scanned it for me but at the end of the day said that there was nothing he could do. He said he has heard of what i was trying to do but would have to use the system that bmw tech uses. By far a wasted trip he gave me some prices of things like full service etc and he quoted like 1/2 the price of BMW so to me thats a ftw.
-
Thanks for that Chris i may have to drop in and see them.
-
I rang them and asked and they just said no, I can't see why they could not just hook up the system and at least see but apparently not.

Anybody in chch know of any other tech's around other than bmw and kevin bert that has bmw diag equip, I am trying to sort out this alarm thing but thoses two place's are not even intrested in hooking the car up to see if they can activate it. Any suggestions

I quite like it, Not for that sum of $$ though.
-
Ahhh ok that's interesting , I knew i had seen it before did not know he was after that amount though.

Sorry not a fan of the color but could be an interesting auction to follow. I have a feeling i have seen this up for auction before though. >>Clicky me<<

I agree with Glenn 100% , My 325i is fresh off the boat and is booked in next week for Coolant flush and oil and filter, New cabin filter as well and trans and diff. Also a real good check over from top to toe, cost is around the $600 mark but i would rather pay that in preventative maintenance than 2k plus if something drastic goes wrong.

Wow guys so many reply's and so fast thanks to you all now that's what i call service , And what are you all doing should you's not be working

Ok so i know this is a contentious issue with some as some prefer not to have any badges at all but for me i want to keep them. I need to move the ///M badge as its in the wrong place. The guy doing the badges must have been on the turps that day. Whats the best way to remove it and what would be best used to stick in the correct place on the left hand side.

I found that to start out with but today i bought a couple of new energizer batteries and put in my key and it works every time now without fail so far. I would say RF would be a lot easier though as you don't have to point in your mirrors direction, But i am in the brand new e46 learning phase and the technology that goes along with it so am just a noob lol. I only found out today there is a button i can open my boot with next to my bonnet release and i have a compartment under my armrest
-
Thanks for that jochen mine must be ir as it has what looks like an ir trans at the base of the key and only seems to work if you are pointing it at the mirror. Its my understanding if i take the car into the dealers they can code it to flash the indicators and have the clown nose flashing when you lock the car even though there is no alarm on the car. I was thinking of doing this in the interim as a deterrent until i decide what to do. Do you know if this is correct.

I have done a lot more looking around and i am getting a lot of conflicting stuff. Some say an auto dim mirror with clown nose but does nothing like blink you turn to dim mirror, Ones you cannot turn are auto dim mirrors and are ment to blink and have the alarm, I thought the red nose was for the remote locking unlocking, but then i read this comes from the rear diverse arial. So now i am just confused

No from everything i have seen its a cover in the center of the head lining. Something like this.
-
no the radio is hooked up to the amplifier one in the left rear c pillar.

I have spoken to my insurance company and the standard immobilser on mine is enough as far as they are concerned, Putting a 5 star after market alarm in is not going to make any difference to my premimiums or excess, antil33t may be right and i just want it in there because i have not got it lol. Its the only thing that i am looking at putting into the car if possible in the way of oem, Other than that there is nothing else that i want to change.
-
Yes i am sure without a dout that a newer modern one would be better, But i wanted to keep everything oem, that way everything is on the key etc, but if its not pre wired then may have to go down the aftermarket route.
-
My car did not come with the oem alarm and i would like to put one in, However i don't think mine is pre-wired for it, Everything i have seen in relation to putting an oem one in mentions the holder in the headliner for the motion sensor but mine has nothing in the headliner at all, Does this mean that mine may not be pre-wired for the alarm, is there anywhere else i could check without having to pull everything apart to find this out. I do currently have the auto dimming mirror with clown nose for remote locking/unlocking.

No nothing on the outside the shows a part number or anything, Don't think its anything special i can use anyway so might just leave it be i think.
-
Yup they were having a sausage sizzle the day i got mine i am sure i seen some egg's on your bonnet. Actually come to think of it i am sure i seen that sitting outside on the foot path, somebody may have been taking it for a test drive. I found them ok to deal with, the same as any dealer really though. I had to take it back to them because of the horrible smell coming from the air con system. He sent me to an aircon specialist who put it through the wyns ultrasonic deodorizer. He said its pretty common for the jp imports, They get a bit of mould growing of the evap fins and plates, The clean is ment to kill off all the bugs etc. Took it for a real good drive over the weekend with fans on full to keep some good airflow going and it seems fine now but have to give it a couple of weeks he reckon and if it comes back the proper way to fix is replace the evap unit, Of course this would not be at my cost.
-
Wow a toll collector i would never have thought of that, Might see if i can open it up and see if i can get some info off of whats inside.
-
But its not pre-wired for the phone i don't think. Could it have been added in for a phone ??
