  1. Just been and seen it and all i can say is BLOODY FANTASTIC, well worth seeing the son loved it and so did i.
  2. Cheers for that found it no problems, I think you are right they do not seem to read as quick as my old e36 but thats ok. Another question, I only noticed today when i went out the car in garage and turned the lights on the beam swung down and then back up again, Appears i have the self leveling headlights, I thought these were only on the later model cars. Whats the deal with these anyway they are ment to self level why ??, would it not be easier like on my old e36 where you could manual control them. The ever moving forward technology i guess.
  3. Welcome to the forum and e46 owners. Heaps of info and very friendly (well sometimes ) people.
  4. Have just updated my text message incoming ringtone, Have attached it to this post. Ok if your beemer is black , Come on you know you want to use it lol Bmw.zip
  5. I see they were producing V3 of this unit in march. Prestigeaudio are you going to bringing any into the country, Looks like a lot of the bug fixes and problems have been fixed with this unit. Only thing i am not sure about is it uses the igo for its maps. Anybody know if we can get decent up to date maps with this system. I have only seen this system mentioned on new phones.
  6. Gonna have a look tomorrow, Have to take the engine splash guard off to get up under the bumper.
  7. Yeah mine was on the passengers side on the e36, The 46 however looks like its mounted behind the fog light within the wheel arch.
  8. My outside temp sensor although working ok seems to come up or down in temp very very slowly. I am just wondering if perhaps it has fallen out of its holder. I remember my one on my e36 did. I have read other posts about its position ect but these were cars in the states, would mine be on the opposite side if mine is a right hand drive ??. Would it be on the right hand side or would it still be on the left hand side. From my understanding its in the brake cooling duct is this correct. If i remove my wheel would i be able to see it up in the duct ?. Looking from the front of the car through the duct i cannot seem to see it that's all.
  9. Heheheh i used to have a Morrie 1000 myself one of the best little cars i owned. I even got snapped by a cop doing 120km but hey come on i could hardly ever get the thing over 90. Was my to and fro work car. Such a snap to work on and it never ever once refused to start or run and you could work on them with your eyes closed. No maf or wheel sensors back then lol. Oh needless to say i took the ticket to court and the judge laughed at the cop and agreed with me there would have been no way in hell i could have been doing that speed. Never seen them with the light on top like that though i must admit.
  10. I have my son down this Easter (hes 10) and just one of the many things we are going to do is go to the movies. Just booked 3 tickets online and holy sh*t its cost me $55, 2 adults and 1 child. We are going to go see how to train your dragon i think its called. To be honest i am looking forward to seeing it being the new 3D and all. Its been years and years since i have been to the movies and seeing this new type of 3D movie kind of excites me a little. I never went and seen that avatar movie but my sister did tell me it was pretty fantastic. Can't wait for the boy to see dad's upgraded car cause i know i will see a smile on his face the same as i had on mine when i got it cause he just love's car's and it goes without saying his favorites are beemers. Maybe he is just trying to placate the old man though hahahahahhaha. I seen this on trademe a few months back and just could not help get it, at only $15 it was bloody cheap and now he can look like the old man when we are out in the cold (you guys from chch will know what i mean lol).

  14. Ok so scanner arrived ok, hooked it up and it connected with the pc straight away. No fault errors are showing so where to go from here then. I know the scanner is working ok as its reading everything else, going to set the graph going and start doing some live data recording i guess.
  15. or buy a new car like me so you don't have the extra money to buy them
  16. Yes you loose the cd change but hey you can fit thousand's more songs on a thumb drive as opposed to the cd changer. Yes it cannot play drm protected content but that's only if you copy the files to a thumb drive and try and play them through there. If you plug the ipod/iphone into the unit it will access the files via the ipod and play them fine.
  17. I used to have a severe addiction to "v" (bottles) i used to buy 10 4 packs a weeks , Average cost a week depending on what was on special was around $80 - 100 a week. Since i got my new car i just stopped and have gone cold turkey now for about a month.
  18. So it turned up yesterday morning 5 mins before i was about to head out the door to go on the chch meet. So was a case of rip out of the bag and very brief read of the manual set up a couple of folders on the thumb drive and go and plug it into the boot. Its all plug and play and when you order it you can select behind dash or boot install. I chose boot install so the correct cables where shipped with it, Was a case of just plugging in the cables into the cd changer harness and then main plug into the back of the unit then plug in the usb drive. All up about 1 minute work and that included making everything tidy with cable ties. It also came with a Velcro pad so you could just stick it where ever you wanted in the boot. Turning on the car and stereo i pushed cd twice and this woman's voice say "usb mode" and then it started playing the files on the device. You set out 6 separate directory's on the thumb drive and they act as virtual cd's for the stereo in the car. I loaded about 600 songs within those directory's. On the chch drive it worked well but then all of a sudden the stereo locked up and you could not turn it off or on or do anything. A quick stop and pulling of the fuse bought the radio back so i left the GROM unit unplugged until we got home and i was able to find out what was going on. Turns out it was the way i have setup the directory's so was my fault. Fixed all that up and have not had a problem since. For the price $200 give or take this is an excellent option if you want to keep things oem like i wanted to. The unit also has a female jack point for other mp3's players and a socket for an ipod but you have to buy the ipod cable separate. I would rate this 8/10 and is perfect for what i need. I have been keeping a close eye on those dynavin (sp) units but they still seem to have alot of bugs, if they manage to get that sorted out i would upgrade to one of those but until then this GROM unit is certaniny worth the buy. Here are a couple of images and a short video, Sorry for the images/video they were taken in the dark.

  21. On the subject of radio codes, if i contacted the dealer down here would they be able to get the code for mine based on my vin number ??. Or do i have to take everything apart to find the radios serial number. Its not written down anywhere i can see on any of the manual's that came with the car and that includes the one for the radio, then again i cannot read Japanese.

    I'm leaving

    Enjoy your holiday mate.
  23. Yup fair call Glenn will hold off until i scan it and report all the error codes back to you
  24. I rang up the dealer and they were going to charge $97 for a scan and the cheapest i could get down here is $80 and this is just a scan as well. Needless to say i feel this is a complete ripoff so jumped on trademe and have purchased a $80 scanner , Its just basic but it does have a usb interface and can read off any generic code's so i purchased that instead, At least i can use it more than once and it also does live readings to. Anyway that should arrive next week and will see if it works ok and produces any error codes, note them down then clear them and then monitor things to see what comes up. I was assured it reads my car ok so if not he will refund money so nothing lost there really. Will just have to take it from there i guess.
  25. Was just thinking the very basic's of this slight hesitation and that giving it a clean (very carefully) wouldn't do any harm
