Small update- finally got the 7 Series all stripped and the engine out- it's actually a huge job! Pic shows the early 5.0 M70 v12 bellhousing fits up to the later M73 not a problem. It appears the botyom half of the V8 engine is similar to the V12 so will start making up an adapter to plate to bolt the M5 6 speed to the v12. Will just need to draw up both engines. I'm also thinking of developing an adapter plate that would allow guys to run the Toyota R154 5 Speed behind the V8 and v12 engines I think this might be desirable for those in countries like ours where getting the 5/6 speed V8 boxes are abit of an expensive mission. Also it looks like the New M5 Solid clutch and flywheel that we have just developed should also fit this V12 setup.

Hi You might want to check that your fork and especially the pivot are all okay becuase if they aren't the fork might move and then the slave will either need to push more (piston goes out the end of the bore= leaking) If it is moving around this could be one reason the pushrod the pushrod misaligned and bent. That kit is for the 6 cylinder with a 260 box but as far as I'm aware you should be fine with a 240. If the bearing is too low then the slave may have to push alittle more but you would have issues straight away and most likely wouldn't be able to get it to disengage. Those pressure plates don't have an increase in pedal effort so it's not from a too heavy pressure plate. Feel free to call me if you have issues thanks Darren 0800-55-6923

All I'll say on this matter is think about the loading that will go on the crank thrust bearings trying to get a dual diaphragm to release plus the load on a cast flywheel that was designed for 1300lb clamp pressure plate. If you have to go that heavy to get a single plate to hold then you need to go twin- I'm sure it will be fine but I get alot of customers calling with problems from AC going to heavy on the clamp.

We can do you a Clutchmasters 7-1/4" setup twin disc setup with either bronze/bronze or bronze/fibre- rated to 600ftlb. With steel billet flywheel. Will need a ring gear though. Will be around $1800. The concentric throw out bearing to suit is $320. I always recommend going with a proper small diameter race clutch as you can get parts for them and they are interchangable through the brands tilton, quarter master, powertrain etc. Jap twin plates are usually throw away at the end of the day. Best to do it once and you won't have to visit that department again. All of the BMW boxes have the same spline so you can change boxes and use the same clutch.

Sorry I don't have the time to go back through all the pages but what sort of power are you hoping for? Can either do a good single or a twin plate setup.

Hey Anton- slow progress- still stipping the thing down- that car is an amazing bit of gear! Will keep you posted when I get into the good bits- spreading my time over a few of the projects! I'd imagine the V12 will weigh similar to the m62 since it's only SOHC. It makes makes more power and torque and will sound sick with ITB's- this car really isn't about all out performance though- just something different.

For E30 you should be fine with the normal offset one. I'll have a centre available soon that will have had extra clutches added and tightened ready to install in a diff.

It will fit fine both 188mm but just need to make sure you get the correct offset centre. Are you talking e30 or e36?
