    Panel filter

Finally scanned this in, seem to be having trouble getting both pages on one reply so will try two replys and see what happens. Page 2
  2. This is quite a good site for comparing cars.......http://www.carfolio.com/search/results/?terms=bmw Either scroll through the list or do a more specific search in the quick search box.

    Panel filter

I have a old magazine article at home (Performance BMW) that has a test on a heap of panel filters and pod filters. The test car is a E30 325i, they do a stock air filter to start with and put it on the dyno then go through each filter doing a dyno run after each change. Basically the best panel gives +2 bhp and the best pod gives +9 bhp. The k&n pod is the best as far as bhp and torque. I could scan this if anyone is keen. BTW the best power they got was at the start when the bonnet was open! Shows the importance of a heat sheild.
  4. Easy job to do yourself or do you need a press to get the bushes in or out?
  5. The car did this before and after the new suspension. It is only about 20mm lower than the BMW motorsport suspension setup.
  6. Hi, The car is a E30 325i. The car has had this problem since I bought it. When going over potholes, bumps, cats eyes etc the rear of the car feels like it kicks sideways (like it has been pushed from the side). Something feels a bit loose. The car wanders a bit too, especially when going over different road surfaces. Also when the car is cold it is very easy the get the bunny hops when slowing down. I've had the suspension checked by Chamberlain suspension and it came back as not needing anything doing, even after explaining what is happening. It used to have motorsport suspension but now has the Bilstein streetline kit. The car has had a wheel alignment. The car did this before and after the suspension change and wheel alignment. I am thinking along the lines of rear trailing arm bushes, subframe bushes, broken diff mount bushes etc. Any ideas? Or has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Thanks in advance....
  7. I'm not sure these are my favourites, but still nice all the same.

    My New Daily

Sweet car, they were good for 100mph in standard form which is pretty good for 1970 and considering the lack of aerodynamics! I bought one that had so much rust in it it had moss growing on all the carpet and you could see into the boot without opening it! I only wanted the engine though! Don't thrash the engine when cold and it will go well for a long time. www.thompsonmotors.net.nz will have heaps of parts if you are looking. www.turbo124.com/forum/index will give you some interesting reading.

    BMW e30 ///M 2

Sweet, another 4 door mtech 2. I'm thinking of getting a respray, what's the ballpark figure? What happened to the door mirrors? Looks as though something is missing! The 16's look great, if only I could find some 16in Alpinas......
  11. On TV3 this evening. Pretty cool ad starting with the 2002 which turns into the E21 then E30 then E36 then E46 then into the latest 3 series.

    E30 towbar

Didn't really want to put one on my car as I'll have to cut a hole in my Mtech 2 rear skirt. But I have needed a towbar alot lately. Does anyone have one and know how much to post to Christchurch? Cheers
  13. Try www.carfolio.com but then you will have to work out what the Europeans call the cars you are looking at. Enter the make of car you are looking for in the quick search and scroll through until you find what you are after. Enjoy!
  14. There is a nice black new M5 with the plate V10 M5. Saw a new M6 fly past me while I was working on the side of the road yesterday, no pplate but sounded sweet!
  15. Do the E30 M325i's have an electric cooling fan as well as the viscous fan?

    The good oil?

Found Redline oil at BNT Automotive on Montreal St. I have done the gearbox but when I went to do the diff I found it has a different size Allen head plug to the gbox. Does anyone know off the top of their head what size it is as I forgot to measure it and want to get one today? I'm guessing around 15mm.
  17. I am planning to do the diff and gearbox oil this weekend. I have read that Redline is pretty good. What grade do I go for and does anyone know who sells it in Christchurch? Any other oils recommended? The car is a 1989 E30 325i 5 speed and open diff. Thanks
  18. No it is running at the correct temperature.
  19. The temp gauge in my car seems to have a bit of a mind of it's own. I suspect it is a dodgy earth. It works fine while the car warms up but when it has reached normal temp it then starts creeping up until I look down and tap the dash, then in goes back to normal. Lately it seems to jump up and down all over the place between normal and high. I have unplugged it and cleaned the connections but no change. Do I just splice in a new earth? Any ideas? Thanks
  20. Ther are some pretty decent E30's on Trademe at the moment, I'm liking the red 325i M 4 door and the 318is and Gus's one of course Not sure about the 325i with 17's on the front and 16's on the rear "cos it's better for drifting" though!
  21. 2x JPS E30s, one is a little bent!
  22. I'm not usually a fan of english cars but this was nice...
