Plenty of work in 'kura then Graham
-
Couldn't agree more, i mean seriously WTF is this about? "The three Ecoya mists: Lemongrass & Ginger for energising, Vanilla Bean to calm, and Lotus Flower for balance and clarity." That alone would stop me buying the car..........................aside from not having the $
-
I have nothing to add as i have no skills
-
That's better. Complete prick of a colour to photogragh, pffft.
-
Thanks guys. Andy, will PM ya.
-
Finally had some decent weather so made progress in last couple days. Stupid phone camera pic's make the colour look grey & grainy, but it certainly is Cirrusblau.
-
This turned up today from the Bay of Plenty. As you see it is how it arrived...........but give me a couple of weeks and ya won't recognise it. Little bit of panel work & a respray in Cirrusblau & she'll be sweet. Will keep updating as i go. Oh, yes that black roof IS going away haha.
-
Yet another reason to buy a Bentley
-
Yep i do panel work as well. This is what i dug out of the pillar behind drivers door (LHD) of that truck, yes it is an inch thick. Fixed it the best i could then put a skim of bog on it, came out well. I'm just south of New Plymouth so maybe a little far for ya, but dependant on what ya wanted doing it could be worth it.
-
For me a repiant is just as easy as doing touch-ups. 2 weeks is what i normally have a car for a re-paint, gives me plenty of time for any unforseen issues. Flick me a PM & i'll give ya a price. The price i give you is the price you pay, none of this quote price that "may" change without notice crap. I charge what i do because believe it or not after nearly 30 years of doing it i still enjoy doing it haha.
-
It depends on what ya want done mate.
-
HAHA thought it would be
-
Drive down - $30 bus ticket NP to Ham' - $30 bus ticket Ham' to NP - pay for paintjob - drive home Still works out at 1/3 the price at a paint & panel shop (& that includes drop off & pick up from bus depot)
-
Yep, that's all i do. If it stays still long enough i'll paint it.
-
Just a quick post on a job i just finished. Customer didn't want the flames anymore, so i did a repaint in Jet Black. The whole job was $1500 all up, i'm telling ya all that because there are people (some in this forum included) that will say "ya can't get good paint jobs for cheap" well i'm here to say 'Bollocks' haha. Before. After So if ya want to talk PM me, i do have repeat Bimmersport customers.
-
HAHA Ah but it wouldn't have been like any other matt black E34 you've seen before, there was going to be a different twist to it
-
Plans changed then Oli haha. If it doesn't sell we may be able to come to an arrangement regarding the "other" thing we've discussed.
-
Maybe i should start a business doing headlghts. Interesting they only give 3 years on re-coating the UV protection. At the end of the day it's only a very slightly modified automotive 2 pack clear and most paint manufacturers give lifetime warrenties now.

Mate, in regards to your E39 headlights, the 3M kit is kinda ok for a joe public thing. The way to get the best out of it is this. Get some 800 or 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper & sand the crap out the lense, (do it wet tho') Then use the 3M kit, even better if you have some decent cutting compound. This is how our Toyota Vitz looked. A quick sand with 800 Quick go over with buff & compound With it outside, it came up so well you can see the reflection of my shed in the headlight. 15 minutes per side, job done.

Of course they don't "mind" motorsport road closures, have you ever been involved in a 'road closure' for an event? When i was in the HB car club i was on the committee that did closures for gravel sprints, hill climbs and the Central Region Rally Series and saw what the cost for closure was. Bearing in mind this was 10 years ago, but the CRRS (Central Region Rally Series) road closure cost was between 25,000 - 30,000 for the 3 days. So as for shutting down the Ohakune 1000, it's not only the businesses losing out but the wider community as well. Council gets less $ then the community gets less services. Thank christ we have people like Rod Millen who ARE willing to go the extra mile with alternatives.
-
Amen to that.
-
Nope, not enough latteral support.

I read this thread before i logged in so didn't see the pic' in post #1 and thought to myself, 'FFS here we go again', but to be honest i actually quite like it. Must be because it's done with a bit of taste without plastering it with "rusty bits" IMO ya already have haha.
-
I'm with you Simon. What does amuse me more tho' is the way the word "Build" is thrown about. I've seen plenty of things "bolted" onto the car, nothing "built".
-
With the "touch up" stuff you get from dealers they'd just use the 'prime' colour, the one i called the "std" colour. BUT in saying all i have i must also say if it's only small chips you should be able to get away with the 'prime' colour, the bigger the area to be touched up gets the more important the correct colour becomes. (obivously) As you were.
