  1. Yep, do it in person if possible. Funnily enough i've never had any problems when confronting people face to face, don't really know why because i'm old, 70kg & 5 foot nothing, aye Andy hehe.
  2. bellicose

    Wow...

Let alone admit to OWNING it haha. Be interested to know what he payed to get it painted. PPG Harlequin is now at OVER 2k a liter, and that's at cost to me from PPG.
  3. Basecoat / clearcoat. Whoever does it needs to get all that primer off because there's no knowing what it is. It needs a plastic /rubber adhesion promoter, a good single pack primer then base colour then clear. Primer, colour & clear all need a 'flex additive' in them to stop cracking when the rubber is de-formed.
  4. bellicose

    Wow...

That right there would be the undeniable truth.
  5. Where are you? Wrap it up and send it to me and i'll do it, i'll also stand by it not cracking for as long as you own the car.
  6. $150 inclusive of labour & materials. Distance could be an issue BUT alot of times people have found it cheaper to send me stuff to do and including courier here & back it still works out cheaper. Or get a whole lot of BS members parts together (bumpers, valances, mirrors or what ever) and get one person to bring the lot and i'll do a discounted price.
  7. Out of interest, what needs doing (repair) on ya bumper? I just did E30 front & back bar & bonnet. Rear bar had a big chunk missing from moulding and bonnet had a couple of good dents. One on front edge that was bad enough that it actually pulled the whole front edge of bonnet down. Other one was on the back edge and looked like it had been hit with an axe. Did the whole lot for $300. Check out andys ( _Ethrty-Andy_ ) E30 build thread ( can find it at the bottom of any post andy has made) to see finished product. Just putting it out there if you want a decent job for reasonable $.
  8. So offset is between 10 and 20 yes?
  9. Another thing to note. If ya do get one of the bottles with the brush attached to the cap, don't use that brush, they are stiff as hell and will "pull" the paint when you put it on. Go to $2 shop and buy a multi pack of brushes, they're cheap crappy one use things but are softer than the ones supplied with the touch up paint.
  10. Yes but.............the dealer will have the "prime", which is the first variant of 'that' colour and may very well be completely wrong. For instance, Delphin met'. One "prime" and 2 variants, one darker (D) and one yellower (Y). If you go into the dealer and ask which one is which they would look at you like you're on drugs. But you'd be p1ssed if you got the wrong one.
  11. Huh? What do you mean "true BMW colours"? Any paint shop that does touch up colours in either bottle/brush or aerosol can can do "true BMW colours" Sh1t, i've got a mixing bank in my shed with all the tinters and i can make up "true BMW colours". All you need is tinters and the formula. OP, shop around before you go and get stung by a dealer.
  12. Have to agree with 100% badassness. Have been to US for nationals at Pomona, CA and Reading, PA thanks to Steve Harker (Top Alcahol Funny Car driver/owner, i painted his race car transporter 'bout 10 years ago) You have no idea what a punch in the chest is 'til you've felt the air concussion of a fueller up close and personal.
  13. Something not quite right with the whole thing. Yes i'm a sceptic (also a big conspiracy therorist haha) 7G is a huge number and those cars are certainly not going quick enough to pull that kinda figure. Maybe i'm missing something???? Just as a vague reference. Top Fuel dragster. • Horsepower: 7,000 • 0-100 mph: 8-tenths of a second • G-Forces at launch: 5-6
  14. Plymouth? Ya must be a young'n haha. I see a Lexus, a '40 Ford & a Pontiac LeMans.

    Meh. Google V.S Motor. BMW M5 E34 3.8 - 1129bhp / 1130Nm (833ft.lbs torque)
  16. So ya pretty much ignored my post then aye, pffft.
  17. Get a good clean 2nd hand bumper, get it to me and i'll paint it for $200 then you can get it fitted by a panelbeater. Dependant on where you are, bring the car to me and i'll paint & fit for $300.
  18. WHAHAHA we must know the same "person" then. Boy-o-boy could i tell some tales 'bout the people, cars & practices of that lot. I did some work for the Doctor a few years ago when they were behind the Mobil in Havelock. In saying that, i would get them to do an E type for me, but by christ i'd be watching the build like a hawk.
  19. Holy crap, has it been that long. I tip my hat to you ( & M-Spec). I've been smoking for 30 years now and would love to give up BUT i don't have the will power, hopefully one day soon tho'.
  20. I have several degrees in that haha. This gave me a chuckle.
  21. Correct. Embroidery and digital Embroidery file design. 15 years experience, still learning. Can do anything from one off logo's for upholstery jobs up to massive leather gang patches. http://www.apexapparel.co.nz/
  22. Ok here's the deal. I have been reading a couple of threads where some of you guys (& gals) are compititive in areas like cycling & sailing & i was thinking of doing a deal that would be advantageous to you & me. I'll sponsor your paintwork on what ever it is you race, weather it's cycling, sailing, motorcycles, RC cars or whatever. There will be a couple of stipulations tho' (isn't there always haha) 1: I get to put a logo on whatever i paint (this will be small and to scale with what it's on) 2: Any paint repairs on said item must come back to me to be repaired. 3: You must be competitive. That doesn't mean you have to be winning all the time or even ANYTIME, just that you compete on a decent level and not just a hobby you do once every 6 months or less. The rest of the details can be worked out with individuals as required. This sponsorship covers ALL materials and labour but item(s) must get to me by arragement of the owner. Final note.............for all the BMW series guys that popped in here hoping Sorry guys, i'm not in a position to offer it to you. A car would be a little costly for me at the mo', but with any luck it will change. So let me know what ya thoughts are. Final note #2, i'm currently talking to Giant bicycles re' some of their riders & bikes in NZ. This started as my lil' sister is an international Tri athelete who also owns a sports marketing business and has close ties with Giant. Admin' / mod's i hope i'm not outa line or stepping on any toes with this.
