  1. I went to the Wurth website, its awesome, they have this stuff called 'special adhesive' which looks like the perfect adhesive to accomplish what I am hoping to do. I will also try to use their windscreen sealant and try swapping my E34 rear windscreens over too. Thanks for the feedback everyone
  2. Hi, I bought another E34. The rearview mirror has been torn? or whatever from whatever mount they have permanently affixed to the windscreen. There appears to be remnants of a previous epoxy-like hack job left on the windscreen, there is no mounting-whatever to be seen. I have the original rearview mirror in the boot, but I think the a-joins-b, part is missing that connects the thing to the front windscreen. Who does this sort of repair? I think I have to buy another rearview mirror to begin with, as the original is looking worse for wear and I believe it is missing the part which would make it easier to affix to the 'mounting plate'on the windscreen. Any thoughts? I was wondering why I couldn't just fit another more modern rearview mirror to it, for a say e46 onwards etc if I am starting with a clear windscreen? I don't need the autodim whatever it is hooked up or anything, but a more modern looking rearview mirror might be nice nevertheless. Cheers
  3. Thanks Brent, I will keep them in mind if I decide to go down any of those routes
  4. Hi, I would like another set of wheels and tyres for my second E34. Nothing too narrow prefer 17's. I have a set of m-pars already but looking for something different if I don't use them on this new E34. Don't really have a budget, so if you have something let me know and go from there. Prefer not to d*ck around with spacers, adaptors or rings too. Don't have to be bmw O.E. text me is quicker easier Cheers Lionel 0211503550
  5. Welcome Sam, I have a 1994 525i manual NZ New, and I guess I am only just a head of you with mods, cause I got some cool wheels/suspension and head unit. Yeah, I love mine, good luck with yours, sorry cant help you with wheels, I did get mine off here though, so I am sure some chap on here can help you out.
  6. Checked the LKM, was in new condition, power was coming through to the fuse box, so I checked the loom between the indicator stalk unit and the nearest block connector....it was there, for some reason the wires were very loose in there, it doesnt explain the intermittent problem, cause a bad connection doesnt usually go out after a while then come good some time after...however I fixed all the connectors in the block and got my 'headlight flasher' going also, which didnt work previously, oh and you could use my indicators without the ignition on...now you cant as per normal, so that fixed that also...it doesnt explain why it would fail after about 20 mins, then come back on, but im rapt...just another one of the personality 'issues' cars seem to bring on now and again...
  7. mmm, ok, looks like I will have to look at the wiring from the indicator unit on the column then trace it back to this thing that makes noise, its definately an odd one, cause it nearly always fails after 15mins...like it has a flippin timer on it, god only knows what causes it. I mean dodgey solder is one thing, but dodgey solder doesnt work one minute then falters almost religiously after 15 mins...give a break of a few hours then it works again, and then the cycle begins again...I wish something just flat out broke!...its much easier when something totally fails. lol Cheers.
  8. Hi fellow bimmersport members, My E34 has an issue. The indicators usually work, most of the time, but about 15mins into a journey usually by the time I get to the motoway, they dont, not left or right, nothing on the dash either. When I park up, usually on my return some time later, they work fine...its almost as if there is a timing or heat related factor which does it, cause if I dont use the car for a while, they work fine. Now when it doesnt work...it doesnt work for ages, my trips dont last more than an hour, so if they work, then fail after say 20 mins...they probably wont work till I get to my destination. The hazard switch always works as per usual. I use it to switch lanes, if I have too. So they work perfectly. I looked at the indicator unit on the column, no apparent problems, and as far as google tells me, is usually not a problem item. I changed out the relay under the hood, for another secondhand unit, and that worked for 4 days, and the problem has returned. I guess I could change the indicator unit, but like most things on cars, I dont want to just replace every part of the chain if someone knows what the problem is. Cheers, your help is much appreciated. Any ideas, or has anyone else had this problem? It's a hard question to google. Lionel
  9. Mean paint job for 15 hundy. Are you interested in doing other peoples cars as a side? Lionel
  10. I have an E34, and I looked sideways at an E38...so this car just gives me the shits. After the E34....well I wont be getting one of these thats for sure.
  11. Nice... JC drove the last one, and his initial impressions werent any good...but then.. This one, and it looks like its all great news from the get go Mind you having a V10 will always put you in the exotic class, for what its worth, and bmw only ever had one...in a mass produced car anyway JC was also right about the gap between the M5 and the others...myself I am really liking that triple turbo diesel version with an 8 speed auto, and only a dumbell heavier than an M5 Better still I am sure I can rig the exhaust note to sound like pretty much any exhaust note I choose. I am guessing you can circumvent the original processer somehow and implement your own...a 5 series with over 40mpg, more torque than an M5 and sounding like (enter favourite exhaust note here). swweeettt
  12. Mums E36, was quoted $2500.00 to fix the air con leak which required the entire dash to be removed hence the labour costs were huge. Me and my brother did it instead. Otherwise never had any parts hit four figures yet. My E34 is not too bad either.
  13. You havent said what size tyres you have on there, cause you shouldnt really be having rubbing issues with those E38 style 5's. The offset is close enough to stock and you can get some pretty big feet on the rear of an E34. You should honestly be able to have the whole set of 16x8's on there with the correct (or approx) size tyres on there without any hassles. I dont suppose you have kept the original size E38 tyres on those E38 rims by any chance? Cause that would cause you grief up front for sure.
  14. Its stories like these that really really really motivate me to do as much of the maintanence on my cars as possible without going in over my head, which happens to a degree, but hey researching and having a go and not getting it quite right and rectifying the problem is all a part of the process. I would rather curse myself for stuffing my own car up than arguing with mechanics all day over stuff that cannot be checked or verified. The other lesson I guess is hand your car over to someone who knows their sh*t...engine flush shouldnt really be an eyebrow crosser to a diy selfer let alone a qualified mecahnic. Not only that, even though the other side hasnt chimed in, it seems if what you have said is true, their attitude sux. There would be a few jungle mechanics on this forum who could have done those jobs in half the time...to a bmw specialist..they should be able to do this in their sleep.
  15. I dont know about front bars, but I just got a 20mm rear one from whiteline. I dont think they do fronts anymore. From what I can gather (which is f.a really) having the rear done really improves things on these cars, doing the front is just a bonus. No, I havent installed it yet. If you can grab a bigger front arb I doubt it will be cheap. As for 2nd hand...good luck, someone on here may have something hangin up in the garage.

    EOI: HID kits

Could you put up some pics and give us some more info? There are a few kits out there, and this would at least give us a chance to compare. Price sounds good though, and whats postage going to be like? Cheers.
  17. Gee I wish my E34 was as straight as this. Mean. A straight E34 is a good find. Mine is a 94, and the clear was blistered to hell hood, front of the fenders and half the roof was worn through...yours looks good!
  18. As stated My friend is looking at buyin an E46. Only got 7k maximum, she wouldnt know an E46 from a Ford focus, hence my plug, so from top to bottom would be something like this...ideally... Probably count out m3's, and geniune M/S with all the fruit, if not all of the NZ new cars at this price point... Hopefully a 328i with Leather, elec/heated would be nice, but she wants leather for sure if not elec etc, prefer black. If not a 328i...work ya way down the engine capacities 323i...325i...320i, if it's a 320i... boy it would have to be a nice one, cant see the point if I can get a bigger motor for trivial fuel consumption differences...esp the way she is going to drive it..like a nana mostly. She would like a black sedan, on nice-ish alloys, black leather, less than 200k, had some maintenance work, cared for...should be something like this from some of our members who are down/up grading to other vehicles? pm me, or just put it out there. She has the coin now, she is based in Wellies, but I can take a gander at the Auckland lot, before xmas would help too. Cheers Lionel
  19. OK I made the 2 images smaller again by half, if this doesnt work, oh well. L
  20. Hi, tried to upload, it hardly ever works for me for some reason I have no idea? "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to check the settings and permissions" I dont think I have the front corner indicators anymore, but will check L
  21. Hi I have, A standard front bumper skin, titanium silver, not bad condition, no fogs etc. Rear lights for a coupe (std), good condition Another pair of crystal (aftermarket, clear tops no amber) rear lights but they are not perfect, there is a slight gap that if youre bothered needs to be sealed. A pair of bilstein rear shocks, I think must be sports as they are shorter than the HD's that I put in after them, second hand, they work, other than that I dont know how well...they go in and out? RSM's are all there. A pair of front struts std, second hand, someone painted them red, they work also. I also have a rear 18mm sway bar (MS spec) no bushes or attachments though, rough...but I guess it works. I am out west (Ranui), so pick up only please, if you have an offer just text me on 021 1503550. Lionel
  22. These look like style 202. Z4 E85 ff. 8x18 225/40R18 ET 47 11,23 8.5x18 255/35R18 ET 50 11,93 These are the specs online anyway.
  23. 1, According to Table 10-1-1 LVV certification is not required if your outer circumference is no greater than 5%, so do your maths, the WOF guys probably wont unless it looks a bit silly, it could be peace of mind for you...it aint for many, but thats up to you. 2, As far as I know there is no allowable tyre width 'difference', per se, you have to look at the other conditions, i.e. be appropriate for the rim it is attached to, sufficient clearance for brakes, body etc, oh and possible the 'no more than 25mm from OE track width' caveat which is indirectly related to the width of your tyres, more to do with the offsets of your rims etc. 3, I think this has been covered here before, I dont know if it is actually legislated, but there are harder rules regarding tyre width/rim width approximations based on some Aussie regulations, but its mostly covered by our 'looser' "appropriate selection for rim width" regulation. You may have to think about speed/load ratings too, with very little leeway with tyres on the same axle, i.e. try to ensure they are the SAME. In any case, I would suggest talkin to Johnno or someone else in the Bizo who knows his sh*t, before forkin out on this set-up. After all the combo's I have been through mine is pretty standard now for ease of rotation, spare, blah blah, and yeah go talk to someone. Cheers my 2c...I could be absolutely and totally wrong by the way.
  24. I have driven my mates coupe and they fit, but sh*t they are a tight squeeze, without knowing your offsets, its hard to say, have a guess to where your current size tyres are at and go from there. They are half a size bigger than you want really. Of all the sizes I have run on, 205/55-16, 225/50-16, 245/50-16 (on the back), 215/45-17, 235/45-17, 235/40-17, 225/45-17, 245/40-17, 225/40-18's in every combo you can imagine, I now run 245/40-17's all around on my 328i and its the best for me so far.
  25. Sorry wont let me upload, something about settings and permissions... but its the standard steering wheel 4 spoke.
