The biggest noticeble gain for an e46 is getting rid of any 2 into 1 or x-pipes. These are installed from factory in different exhuast configuration (depending on OEM options ticked) to remove noise at the expense of top end power. I removed this from my old 330 when I installed a supersprint exhaust system and gained noticible top end because of it. Still had a stock filter. Dig up a couple of threads from 'Wayney' he has done all of these sorts of mods on his e46 328i including before and after dyno plots. another thing to look at is if your car is over 130ks looking into your VANOS seals

Some of us mod cars not only to look good, but things like something to work on, something to be proud of (not just for show off value) something to perform, something to serve altenate purpose to daily driving (track days) There are many reasons. Again as other point out, once your on the other side of doing it its what makes us different and is something positive to do that brings good times. for me this is my 4th vehicle build and Im not getting sick of doing this stuff.

Amoung one of the functions. I am working on some custom software/hardware at the moment. The main purpose is a GPS laptimer system running on touch screen. Reverse engineering BMW's protocol at the moment. Will be showing off a prototype at the track day on the 24th.

Sorted 12DC power to the e30's new onboard computer system, works mint. Even managed to wire it in so key off, drivers door open it switched it on as well as normal postion 2 All wired into the diag/DME system now too.
