heheh wash your mouth out! ... but yeah they are running race car type camber and eventual tire wear would be a problem. 235 is the perfect size for 8.5 215 is starting to stretch on 8.5 the e30 is running 225 on 8.5 with no issue. All this depends on the tire manufacture, EG a 235 continetial sport is different from a 235 dunlop derezza tread / sidewall wise, by about 1 inch.

but but these guys are the same experts that are reviewing our cars and saying the m3 is sh*t! ...????

pffft ... amature BMW youtube burnout posting Few of my favs http://www.euromelee.com/burnout3.wmv (e46 m3 pwns all ) http://www.euromelee.com/92turbo.wmv http://www.euromelee.com/burnout2.wmv

yeah its fairly easy to do ... The e30 is running 18x8.5 with 225's on it .. a mild stretch .. 195's would give the same effect as above. The 2nd set of LMs I just took receivership of are 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rears (will run 245 instead of 265) should be enough rubber .. (yeah right ) video of how its done or how the n00bs do it

yeah heard the bloody ports have big security issues at the mo :/ good luck .. and we will certainly keep an eye out.

e30's and stretched tires.

I take it already have your wheels ? ... probably 18x 7.5 or 8 inch ? You need a 20 offset.. which most wheels these days are 30-40mm offset. (the more modern the wheel higher the offset) If you're finding your rubbing slightly on the guards .. You don't actually have to get the gaurds rolled .. you can get the wheels offset increased (wheel pushed inwards) by taking it to a mag wheel repair / engineering shop and getting them to mill some mm off the wheel's hub. the other way is running smaller width tires (stretching them) .. You can usually go 2 sizes smaller without needing a special machine I have picutures of a e30 Mtech 1 running polished lip / black center 18x7.5's with 20mm spacers ... looked good too .. was for sale recently.

pitty the carbon fiber airbox looks so cheap and nasty (bad qaulity)

cooler Sweet .. I looked into all this about two years a go ... was gonna cost some serious $$$ .. but the main cost seemed to be around the softwaring of the ECU .. all the RnD costs (for an e46) in removing all the errors from the system diag's and adjusting the fuel maps (amoung other things) Most S/C units have a automatic disengage anything below 1k rpm, have a look into it as its fairly important. Around the BOV ... Your thinking about the intake pressure buildup. Which would normally slow a turbo charger as the exhuast manifold side is no longer providing positive pressure thus spinning the turbo the intake pressure side starts pushing back on the turbo causing it to slow. As your supercharger is belt driven from the engine, this wont be a problem as the, especially at low boost. The torque of the engine is far greater than a senstive the turbo setup. You will also find it hard to get the blow off sound your after at low boost with valve spring rates are really designed for higher PSI at lower RPM. you would only be getting that sort of thing happening at the highest of RPMs when your boost pressure is at its highest. The boost pressure is controlled as you probably know is controlled from the new pully wheel you will be installing. smaller wheel = more S/C RPM = more boost. Anyways good luck with it! .. you will certainly be blazing trails around these parts.

guys ... just take the wheels into any wheel engineering shop .. and they can reset the offset for you if its rubbing on the outside. a couple of mm usually does it.

Was going to enter the e46, just no one would get it ... "It looks like an standard m3 with four doors .... so what!?" *sigh* semi keen to pop the e30 in when its finished, just I dont really see the point. "wez the chrome auiii" "Oh it has a totally moddified drive train and converted panels and 800bhp engine" "ohhh looks old auu, I can't see the mods" *sigh*
-
dude .. thats so e30

If its a belt driven SC unit ... this negates the use of a BOV. The oil cooler would sit just in front of the radiator. Have a look at how us e46 fellas do it. http://www.e46psi.com/ Great site for all SC questions .. as this form of F/I is more popular in the states.

Do I agree with what BMW is doing with the m3 .. no But I see their point totally .. the worlds media doesnt. As andy said .. people should just buy an e30 if they want 80's ness from there cars. Wait till they take all this feed back aboard and produce their light weight special. Also, If I were BMW I would to put race pads in. Most of the moto journos arn't race car drivers and would spend more time on the brakes. After a full day of racing, road pads wouldn't stand up to the punishment. The car is infact now a road car not a race breed car. Bad for press yes ... but sensible after that muppet wrote off the m5 last time.

e46 m3 "bitch moan bitch moan moan bitch moan" (still won best engine design) e46 m3 CSL "OMFGZZZzz!!11 Best Car ever!1111" e92 m3 "bitch moan bitch moan moan bitch moan" e92 m3 CSL "OMFG its better than anything else i've ever driven!" The 3 series has stepped into the realm of the luxary sedan ... thats it. the m3 is just a more hardcore model of that. What people expect it is and what BMW are producing are two different things. 135 coupe? m1 ? .. thing is .. it will still be the most successful "sports car" sold to date. Always is .. they are just raising the bar.

I think you may have something wrong ... * Try checking your air filter ... * m54b30 really doesnt like running on anything less than 98 RON octane * Tire pressure are even and around 32 PSI (*depending on your tire profile (I run 45 on a 30/35% profile) * Get your software check as suggested earlier This is a little off topic. E46's also have a learning computer, I find after a good out of town aggressive drive .. my car perks up as it learns my style. Otherwise my car only get town driving and falls asleep again and smooths up throttle response. Try it its quite interesting.
-
dude it aint that bad ... you sure your not getting confused between the auto gearbox changes delay ... tip: use manual mode .. between gear changes blip off slightly on the accelerator .. and you get faster changes. Will take you a bit to get use to. Otherwise get aftermarket software. I think people confuse the 3 series as a sports car, buy a z4 or m3 for that. Its a luxary sedan remember.

for a e46, in short ... no While having the sowftare updated to the latest version helps you still have a throttle that is a 'fly by wire' system ... there are several people running around with the s50 throttle bodies and cable / pedal conversion and a lot of dicking around with the ECU. This is the only way to get true direct throttle response 'easily'.

Anymore photos are much appreciated fella? Great to see how other do things. Specially other who fabricated there own parts.
-
same here ... big ups to ray. BTW he has a nice m54b30 for sale. would make an awesome open series swap if you wanted similar to s50b30 performance.
-
HB fella ... hope your having a good one cause we aint in AK with this weather!

I cant wait for the Top gear episode that shows the m3 vs the RS4 ... is going to be a lol fest at the bardge of 'safe' understeer that is Audi. The audi will probably be quicker off the line grip wise, but the m3 will have around 100-150kgs less weight so will make good gains in second and most likely win on the old qauter mile.
