hehe .... cheers for the comments guys! [update] Well unfortunitly painting was delayed a couple of days, but the car has gone in for painting today.. Its going to sit for a couple of days then its gets a full detaling and finishing job done to it ... after this the whole car is being coated in a Teflon finish from Dupont / Simoniz... http://www.simonizusa.com/demoend.asp This will give the car a hardened protection from basic stone chips, bird sh*t, tree jizz .. etc etc and means I wont have to wax the thing for the next three years! Its also garanteed over this time so anytime it doesn't look show room .. Im told I just bring it back and they will re-do it at duponts cost .... So its looking like thursday / friday at this stage..

incl. CSL air dam - or standard m3 one? standard ... next phase I'm going for a carbon splitter which is more agressive than the CSL ones

Cool for sure ... will be good to catch up ...

good question ... Ill awnser that as best I can.Yea basically I have other plans for the car that over extend me buying a standard m3. I got the car for 45k imported and im not going to devuldge how much I have spent on it so far .. but people would call me nuts but once finished (modding) it falls well under what the sticker value of a second hand m3 with the same k's costs. I got this car because I wanted 4 doors, I also am 'competiting' with some of the guys in the states for cleanest / most stylish / staunch looking e46 3 sedan. I've got a wee way to go .. but am getting there. The car after this will have a stage 2 supercharger installed which is about 4k less than doing it to a m3. I wanted to keep this part secret till I actully do it ... but seeing as no one (well almost no one) in the states reads this forum .. Im going to be doing water / methenol injection .. supercharged to a 6 speed box. This is the grand plan power wise, that car will be capible of around 450rwhp which to get out of an m3 is very doable but highly expensive. At this point the main reason for going the m3 kit was A) primarily have a large airdam for the intercooler I love the looks and C) Im fabricating the car to fit coupe parts ... something thats very seldomly been done with BMW OEM parts anywhere! Here is what it will look like (mine being titanium silver ofcorse and ill be running m3 side skirts not mtech aero sideskirts)

[update] Popped in today with the SLR to see it after its been primed. They are using a new high gloss primer which works hand in hand with the paint to give a high show room polish along with a rich colour grade from the paint. (as much as silver does have colour ) I also snapped some shots of the custom m3 metal bonnet .. but it was in the primer shop on first coat with a very matte finish .. the camera didn't pick up the curves very well. However I can tell you the m3 power buldge is perfect! a lot of time was spent on it getting every curve perfect. The guards as you can see turned out perfect (very happy boy) I now have a firm date of when the car is coming home. Looking at tuesday next week .. its going into the paint shop on thursday afternoon / friday and will take a day to bake. Very dirty wheel and new custom m3/sedan front guards New pumped rear gaurds (note: no umbrella effect ) Front side profile

[update] What a rollercoaster few weeks. Things have been progressing nicely, unfortunitly the M3 hood wont fit (I knew that) but it cant even be fabricated as its 24mm too long in the front .. we were going to do a bunch of work on the rear of the hood to make it fit .. but because the side of the bonnet curves more agressively in the front .. it just made thing not fit properly up the front .. and it was going to be a big major to even consider it. However, they are going to modify my exsisting hood with the m3 power buldge but extruding the metal. Its about 17hours work, but is achivable. So it will still get the power buldge Due to the extra hood work the car wont be ready till this friday .. but here are some pics pre paint. These are some dodgy phone pics I took on friday (didn't have time to grab the SLR)

Im still a little skeptical, at the wheels a 330 puts out more or less around 200 HP .. 60 HP with a diff upgrade is a lot. You 'may' get 12-15 with a really good intake / extrator / exaust setup but the thing is the 330 motor on an e46 does actually have a highly tuned stock exaust that comes standard. This is why a lot of people get sweet F all HP gains outta changing to sports exaust systems. Their are only a couple of exaust manufactures that have managed to get any gains outta the e46 330 engine. Hence why you pay through the nose for these systems. anyways .. I'm being a argumentitive lil bitch. Still looks like a sweet car with a lot of power to weight. just dont think its worth the asking price. I think 15 - 16k tops for somebody who thinks its worth that. thats 5 - 6k good will for the engine conversion. Cars just aint worth the mods you put into them.
-
Mine needs 100 RON :/ our 98 RON is more like 90 MON
-
essentially its sounds like the want the extra 10k for the 330 motor ... erm .. yeah I agree ripoff
-
I run a alarm system with SMS paging, I can control the car from my phone. Bloody handy. If its stolen I can shut the engine off remotely via text message (if they ever managed to get it started )

"THIS IS A ONE OFF SPECIAL EDITION 318TI WITH A 2001 330 ENGINE 260HP" what the f**k ? some body slammed an e46 donk in this thing suddenly its a special edition ??!!?? 260hp = no US 330 = 225hp Euro 330 = 232hp (or US ZHP) still would go very well

Nice work dude, will be interested to see how this turns out !

nice effort man ... Nice read too

Realistically a jap motor would be easier to do as there are many more bolt on parts / fuel management options availible for them. However it wouldn't be fun if it wasn't a challange. you also get 'bragging' rights to turboing a BMW engine and you stay true to the brand. The choice is up to you my friend.
