  1. Few things going on here. stealing a vehicle expecting to drive away with the car in a reasonible amount of time. Not possible without spending a lot of time to do it. There for, tow truck or steal key. Steal car with tow truck, then change out everything to get the car to work. Only possible with EWS1 and 2, EWS3 onwards requires an IKE, GM5, DME, EWS and Key change over ... very expensive unless you have a donor car. Then you need to hardcode the chassis VIN into all of these to hide it all. Which requires a lot of know how of the binaries and how to reprogram them soldering to the SMD mounted MCU pinouts. Again, drive away protection in this country is awesome. This is all before (if you have one) the alarm siren and door lock bolts have been set off. Most people wouldn't bother. It gets exponetially harder the newer the model. Newer models use encrypted hash strings which take a very long time to break, then when you think you have it. It changes the rolling code and re-hashes the string.
  2. z3 M-coupe run it So do I -- If its a 5 speed 'e36/2' m motor, it will more than likely be 3.15
  3. No just the wife and myself. However will be catching up with Matty/CCDawn in Vienna .. Coincidentally Evan is visiting the same time. It will be a Drum and bass Kiwi assault on Beer/Sausages and Cheese (so im told) Will be at the BMW Factory in Munich however .... lots of photos
  4. Im off to Germany in about 8 weeks for a week or so. Munich and Berlin
  5. Key fobs and a e39 systems is quite different. Theyre hacking the key, not the EWS. It is possible to replicate the transponder signal in e46,39,x5,38 and burn into a new key, but you really need to know what youre doing and have a pretty decent understanding of the RF range and its protocol. All of this takes time. The other thing is, the RF signal for e39's is in the car, so you still have to smash the window and set off the alarm to read it. Or get the key. My insurance company asked me if I had an alarm, I said yes. They asked if it was a 5 star alarm, I said its integrated into the DME and drive away prtection system. But if thats what you mean '5' then yes. They accepted it no worries.

    The bastard child.

nice! lots of e46 going on there
  14. Your e39 is fine ... people in this country who steal cars are dumb as f**k. I dont think any of them passed school C let alone know how to bypass EWS. Any stories in this country are tow truck related or they steal the key.

  16. ahhh religion, mans excuse for population control and power.
  17. Yeah lots of myth around this one. I can see how it can happen, someone reads something, someone tells someone (local mechanic) its that something however ommits important detail. That person tells a bunch of customers its going to be this with out important caviet. Basic rule of thumb just always check the low volume site first, and if its a grey area, ask a clear factual based question on the low volume forum.
  18. Your car never came with cats so there for doesnt need them nor does it need them for a cert. Its what I researched when I did mine. Could of changed in the mean time however. If you car came with cats including hangers for them on the chassis then yes you would need to retain them.
  19. Best sounding intake ever. True story
  20. Two options that the dealers used Best bars (not removible) http://www.bestbars.co.nz/ And Westfalia http://www.westfalia-automotive.de/index.php?id=home&L=1 The Westfalia removible bars aren't made for motorsport/m5 bumper without getting the ugly rear valance flap.
  21. Look for a registered sensor fault in the DME and/or run it on a dyno and check the KG/PH and temp to see if its in range.
