ive used a range of different fuels in my e39 540i generally havent noticed a change in economy usually go for shell 95 as its a good price for the octane bp98 if im going to drive it hard have tried gull force 10 a few different times seems to drive fine on it but everytime it goes in the car it gets a rough idle as soon as i use another fuel the idle goes back to normal

just claim If he isnt mature enough to pay for insurance like everybody else why give him a break also if you get it repaired with insurance you get a lifetime warranty on the repairs a cash job will get no warranty -
not sure about capacity most cars are around 8-12l for a 6cyl keep inmind the whole water jacket in the block doesnt drain when you take the hoses off thats why they recommend flushing the system well when getting crap out

bump $300 for bimmersporters

ill clarify the load resistor/ inbuilt resistor i was talking about is just there to stop the indicator flashing at a million HZ i was under the impression it would stop teh check lights but maybe not As you say going genuine narva or hella are your best bet they are from europe so will understand those sorts of cars, they dont cost that much more than chinese and they have lifetime warrenties and "unbreakable" lenses Cost about $120 for a pair at supercheap As opposed to $70 for chinese + $80 per hour it takes for a sparky to fix the issues

mine has a lead acid they might have a calcium from factory but i doubt that has lasted 12 years lead acid are about $350 for a huge one like my 540 has Calcium can be three times that so doubtful someone will have used one battery will likely have either PB (lead) or CA (calcium) somewhere on it

I bought some for my e39 as supercheap The tridon refills they sell seem to be of good quality, quiet and last well IIRC they use a midback tapered (the most common to run out of stock) if you have a less than common euro car generally something will work but dont expect the guys at the counter to automatically know what works, it is supercheap after all not the dealership. if they tell you its normal to have to bend your clips to fit then walk away there is usually a tridon book sitting there somewhere also when using metal backed refills keep in mind that the rubber stretchs while you are pulling on it if you dont give it a chance to settle back before you cut them off you will have the rubber shrink and retract 10-15mm fairly quickly. (give them a push in and flex the blade both ways abit should move the rubber back)

i would just go for a decent 15w40 should set you back about $35-$45 Do the filter and i would also run an engine oil flush through it to get rid of all the gunk that has dried on

bump open to offers

i wouldnt try to adjust the idle until you've replaced everything including oil, oil filter, fuel filter plugs and put fresh fuel in it

this thread is very old but i will post anyway narva sell a load resistor for about $25 designed specifically for this problem that being said almost every led trailer lioght you buy now has a resister built in, didnt take them long to figure out people want a plug in job rather than a faff around.

Fresh oil can be done with plain degreaser from supercheap or repco spray on hose off liberally worse stains can take a couple of applications of degreaser and leaving time to soak, possibly a quick scrub you can buy specialist driveway cleaners but ive found cheap degreaser works well also black oil on white concrete can be fixed by caustic soda im told (check this before trying)

if its still abit iffy try it with the car windows down my car has aftermarket tints and as their job is to block light they do a good job of cutting out the remote through the windscreen works prefect side windows can take a close range and the back window generally wont work Infrared is never the ideal system I have repalced the battery in mine and it generally still waits for me to be a few meters from the car, nothing near what radio recievers can do as far as range

if its the jap import with the red dome under the mirror it will be infrared make sure the infrared led on the remote is nice and clean if its not working turn the camera on your phone on and look through it at the led on the key a camera will pick up the invisible light and show it. Should be flashing brighter and dim a few times before turning off
