  1. i wasnt aware any were turbo i havent had that much to do with late model 3 series but i didnt think they made any turbo versions
  2. i dont think the v8s are that bad service history is a great adviser of condition but it depends on what your after if you like to barrel friends and luggage all around the country in luxury go for the e39 540i If i had the money for one i would probably sacrifice the space and comfort and go for a 330 as with anything get a bmw specialist to check it out before purchase, money well spent if you do
  3. failed the wof on broken headlight adjusters should be enough meat left to repair them for the time being but would like to get new ones. not pay $100 for the trademe ones Likewise $14 from pelican is uselss when it costs $40 to frieght them here. anyone else in nz sell them for a reasonable price
  4. Get some long bolts and heaps of washers.... but seriously dont do that... you will die
  5. not sure you could weld onto a flywheel but is it possible to transfer amrks over onto the flywheel itself? though id say a new flywheel would be by far the easiest option Especially if its damaged the ringgear etc
  6. yea im guessing work and study at the same time would suck but im not sure i can handle going from good paying salary to a student allowance again, Actually im damn sure i cant handle that haha
  7. i might point out my liking for the idea of studying while working is so i dont have to sell my 540 prioritys are set
  8. Ive been doing alot of career planning lately and one of the big options jumping out at me is being a quantity surveyor mainly due to being very mechanically/construction minded and also having quite a knack for accountancy. ive read alot online about what to expect but take most of that with a grain of salt if there are any QS on here i would love you opinion on a couple of questions that are still lingering. 1. I would rather keep working while i study and open polytech allow you to work extramurally, if i stick to it is this still a feasible option or do you really need face to face time with lecturers etc by doing it full time? 2. ive been told QS are in demand but it can be difficult if your new to it, how bad will finding my first job really be?will i have to move to wherever will take me? 3. ive read the pay scales of new, intermediate etc etc but it doesnt say when you move up. realistically if im decent at it how fast could i expect to progress? 4. How flexible do you find the work? is it 60 hours one week then 15 the next? are holidays confined to christmas period, or can you take off whenever? 5. Is it realistically a job where you work for 10 years then start your own firm or do you spend most of your time working for a big company. Thanks for any help you may offer.
  9. expansion tanks will level themselves out if they are over filled normally the first time it heat soakes as that is where the highest temps are reached run it through a couple of heat cycles then leave it overnight, next day it should be at the high cold mark if its much lower its probably losing water or forcing too much out i over filled my alfa once and it heat soaked and spat heaps out very quickly, no harm was done to the car but it didnt look good that happening over the vtnz wof pit. still got a wof though haha
  10. quote from http://www.powerproduct.co.uk/which-generator.html and here is their guide for what most items consume http://www.powerproduct.co.uk/generator-guide.html
  11. seeing as browsing my tools almost all seem to be well under 1000w i would say most but yes compressors etc would be out of the question
  12. it has a peak output of 1900w for tool start up needs so realistically anything 1500w quite comfortably drills, saws, heat guns, polishers etc most tools fall within this range wouldnt run things like welders though being pure sine wave would be ideal for televisions or computers
  13. Bought incase of power loss during a time where i could absolutely not afford to lose power at home. Paid $999 and never had to use it. Has fuel and oil in it, ive started it up and tested it all works when i bought it Starts first pop. Digital Hour meter is still on 0.00 1700w 4 stroke very quiet 68db iirc 3.5 l fuel tank twin outlet Automatic throttle control to conserve fuel Has digital readout of V , HZ, KW and Hours Pure sine wave so can run digital electronics Very compact to store away and easy to move Perfect for Race series guys, big enough to run tools/lights at the track Asking $500, pickup in taupo, Could ship but not sure on price as it weighs 26kg and i would have to drain fuel and oil first.
  14. angle gauge can be had from super cheap for $17.37 http://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/online-sto...307#Description removal of seal should only take a small sharp flat screwdriver to get in then pull out putting new seal in can be done mostly by hand then taped in with the flat end of a screwdriver or similar to go the final push doesnt really need the factory tool for that (just lube it with fresh oil first) Crank holding tool would be the only specific tool you would need BNT sell them i believe but not cheaply Dealer or bm workshop may rent them if you ask nicely
  15. found with the shock still extended in the spring you can tigten a small hose clamp around the shock shaft this stops it retracting and because it shres the load doesnt mark the metal this was handy when changing springs etc
  16. the horn runs backwards as a circuit the horn has power all the time and the button ground the circuit if it goes when you press on the steering wheel itself theres a good chance you have pinched a wire in there somewhere

    Internet hot air

google will merge with facebook and track the biometric reaction to websights that users click on. a strong reaction will boost its rating in a search engine, a poor reaction will lower it they will then rename the internet "porntube/biebertown" after which the us and soviets will agree to train their missiles on each other and end the world at exactly 12.54 pm on the 6th of feb 2013 feeling left out Korea will try to start the party early and fire its wonky missiles at japan but will miss and hit a french submarine that has been lost since the Vietnam war this will incite the french to throw cheese at the swiss who will do nothing about it because they are still trying to figure out how the dutch have remained to calm (if not a little hungry) during the apocalypse. Italy will then feel oppressed by the swisses laid back attitude and will fire a cruise ship at greece the result of which nobody cares about. At this point the US will fire their nukes at russia, unfortunately they return the favor and due to an unimaginable coincidence exactly 5000 us nukes will hit 5000 russian nukes over the bearing straight, cancelling each other out whilst letting millions of fragments of nuclear material fall like snow onto the waiting faces of fishermen who are just now discovering radiation sickness really is the deadliest catch. The nuclear blast will kill the remaining polar bears which unknown to man kind are only there to magically stop a super volcano erupting and destroying the planet, moments after the last bear in vaporized a stream of lava encircles the globe killing all life......

  22. could be some rust down the bores chuck some ATF down them and let it soak in it may take a good few goes back and forth to loosen up
  23. the ews is bypassable in theory if you know what your doing What we can all agree on is that the bmw wiring is very complex unless you are going to spend good money with an experienced installer to do the job i can see an aftermarket alarm spending the vast majority of its time locking you out rather than the crims
  24. yea viscous should do that you will hear the same roar from most vehicles with a viscous fan
