For those interested, it ended up being cracked ceramic around spark plug. replaced all plugs, and it is once again the Ultimate Driving experience. Now i need to get clear coat on roof issue sorted and replace rubber seals around rear and front windscreens. Any tips?

Yup Bosch, replaced by BM Workshop up here in Auckland.

I replaced the MAFs last year or so. I will need to look into the oxy sensors, scanner tool is handheld so doesn't give proper error message. will need to check the additive and multiplicative fuel trims. Will let you know.

Hi All, just wanted to confirm a "what would you do" situation for me. Took the M5 for a spin over the weekend and lost power (started to lose responsiveness ie, a bit sluggish) down the motorway after 20 mins of driving. Came home, put the scan tool in and got a misfiring in "Cylinder 7 with cylinder cutout". I've taken the covers off and noticed that the Bremi ignition coils for cylinder 5-8 were all original (manufactured 12-99). Car has only done 132,xxx ks, spark plugs replaced at 100,xxx ks. I suspect Cylinder 1-4 are also original Bremi (but haven't checked). Should I just replace all ignition coils? Cylinder 7 coil looked fine, it didn't seem to be bad. Car is booked in at BM Workshop in a couple weeks (these guys are just super busy). they quoted me Bremi replacement 125 +gst / coil. I'm thinking I just order online for $85/coil and do all myself if it's probably something I need to change anyway (if all original). What mileage should you be expecting to change coils for an e39 M5? Also I'm getting Oxygen Sensor, bank 1 & 2 error. Thanks

still available?

Thanks for the suggestion, But more interested in the history behind the 4.6is and what it was supposed to be. It never ended up being the first m sport x5, but the rarity of the car makes it appealing.

Spray Gun kit still available?
-
I’d be interested if the price is right
-
The 2nd one is probably more mechanically fit (but who knows with these cars, anything can happen), however the 1st option is more spec'd i.e aluminium running boards, rear blinds and a lot more judging by the VIN check on mdecoder.
-
How much are we looking for replacement? Do you know?
-
Not sure if the timing chains have been done. there's a silver 4.6is (NZ new) on TE too (timing chains done), however it doesn't have the aluminium running boards and is less spec'd (doesn't have the door blinds etc) like the Singapore version. I prefer the 4.6is too. just the history of what it was meant to be is likely to be a future classic. but time will tell.

Sorry for the New topic Repost: Thoughts on a high mileage X5 E53 4.6is like the following: https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2648474851.htm?rsqid=deebbc596ff746b9b80d10f59773320b-001 https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2568039330.htm?rsqid=deebbc596ff746b9b80d10f59773320b-001 Thanks

Hi All, I'm in the market for an E53 4.6is, prefer that over the 4.8is due to it's Alpina history etc. I came across this listing on trademe : https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2648474851.htm?rsqid=deebbc596ff746b9b80d10f59773320b-001 ex. Singapore model, but came with all the options (rear blinds, electric back seats, body kit etc) but I'm not sure about it being an ex.Singapore. Took it for a drive, and drives good, few bits and pieces to attend too (not a concern for me), however I'm not sure of the big ticket items (timing Chains etc) have been done. Mileage on it is 197k kms. Found some service receipts and looks like the "shocks and control arms", "valve cover gasket set" "spark plugs" were replaced this year. Worth the $9,000 price? I'm thinking less.

Keen/ What's your details and how much?
-
Thanks, I live in Green Bay. Car drives fine. The error doesnt show up after cooling down and restarting, but does come back. I will get in touch with BM Workshop to get them to look at it. Or even get Ray HellBM to have a look.

Hi, thanks for the response. Not sure what a proper scan tool is, but got these code errors.

Hi all, A question with the yaw sensor. I have a 12/2001 model e46 m3 and the yaw sensor is playing up (ie DSC light and wheel pressure light comes one - slight play in brake pedal when these lights kick in). I've read that the yaw sensor was superseded late 2002. What is the difference between the two? Are they interchangeable ie can I use a 2004 version in my car? Btw - i have an SMG gear box. COG light does not come on. Thanks

You have my curiosity? Tell me more please?

Hello all, I'm after a BMW CD43 stereo from an e36 in reasonably good condition. If you have the harness too then awesome otherwise, keen to get my hands on the radio. Thanks
