  1. As the E60 is heading out of the door, I have several things that I meant to put on the car but weren't required yet. I'm going to put them on TM next week, but I thought I'll give fellow bimmersporter first dibs for them. I haven't taken any pictures yet. I need to take a closer look at the conditions of the used stuff, however they should be quite good. I'll update this page to add my observations. 2. Dang! The law is always open to interpretation! Oops, one letter too many. You're right, it's PSM.
  3. The Tce, good idea. I assumed as it's much bigger then the sound won't be contained as in a smaller one like Mt Vic. But it's a 80k zone, I can slow down to 20k at the start of the tunnel then let her rip!!!! That's not a driving offence, is it? As long as I keep it 80 and no wheel spin (4-wheel drive + PASM so it's unlikely).
  4. Are you looking to buy the one in JG Paul? I thought its smaller brother is the more sensible choice? Having second thought?
  5. Johno: Dang! Those alloys are nice! I'll keep that in mind, those fit the car really well!!! Chris: Went through Mt Vic tunnel, but it was busy so couldn't really hear anything. Would have to do it at early morning, maybe Sunday morning before those SUVs filling up the road again.
  6. Thanks. It's tiptronic, which the sales guy showed how to use properly, scared the s*%t out of me as we were going very fast round the Basin Reserve. It's a C4. cliff, been looking for vert, since cabriolet Porsches have more headroom at the back compared to coupe, and I need to transport 3 people. Also there are less of 911 cabs on the road, making this one more special. I'll post more stuff when I actually get my dirty little hands on the car, which is this Saturday.
  7. Just signed the paperwork for this, however will still have wife's 318 Compact. It's a 2003 996 Carrera 4 cabriolet with hard-top, fully loaded, ex-UK / Japan, black on black. Will do inspection next week, with a view of picking it up next weekend. Will post some more pics when I actually got it. This is just a teaser.
  8. And interstates in the States. Drivers are corteous towards each other, if you don't want to drive as fast as the driver behind you, then move to the right and let the other driver pass. Doesn't matter if he/she's doing 10, 20 or 50 mph above the posted speed limit. Drivers over there automatically let anyone faster than they are to pass them, all the time, any time of the day! There isn't any of this righteous behaviour Kiwi drivers are exhibiting driving on the motorway 'Oh I'm doing 100 so I won't let anyone faster than me pass ços they'll be breaking the law'. Get a f%$#îng life!!
  9. As a general rule, for 1st gen X5, don't get a 3.0l petrol for the purpose of having better fuel consumption. It'll be as thirsty as the 4.4, but not as fast. You'll be left wondering 'what if ...' Equipment wise you won't get the TV.
  10. There's no money to be made, why spend resources on it? Get your story to Campbell Live or similar TV programme. I bet NZ Police will charge the driver straight after getting the (1st) call. Don't drivers understand that their speedometers are optimistic? People were doing 90 at motorway, c'mon WTH?? I set my cruise control at 104 which gave (true-ish) 100 kph reading on my GPS.
  11. To reduce the holiday road toll to zero during Christmas New Year period this year we have decided on a way to best achieve this goal. Any form of motorised transport will therefore be banned from midnight 24 December until 6am 3 January. Anyone caught being in control of a motorised transport will face 30 days jail and a $10,000 fine. The ban will extend to ride-on mowers, any type of scooters. With this tough approach to stop the needless waste of life on our road, we hope that this Christmas will bring joy and happiness to all.
  12. And the loaner they'll give you when you bring your crumbling '(not so) Great Wall for a service. "Right this way sir, your donkey awaits. Please press your foot firmly on the donkey's a$$ to get going"
  13. Haha, the 'Great' Wall. What a name, eh.
  14. Thanks Nicko, your reply really helps. As I said on my previous post, it's on the list because it's a Porsche that can take 3 people in comfort not because it's a SUV. I don't really care whether it's a SUV or not as I don't do water sports, don't have any real horses or race cars meaning no need to tow anything. Will be better if I can fit 3 people comfortably into a 997. Funny how this topic becomes a discussion about build quality in general.
  15. Looking at Cayenne because it's a Porsche that can fit a family of 3 not because it's a SUV. The new diesel Cayenne is still selling at $140k!! 25l/100kms, that's rather thirsty really. Food for thought. Personally I wouldn't want to spend that kind of money on a Japanese car. A couple of k yes, anything more than that I'd buy something with a personality not some bland, designed by committee, reliable, slushy motor. I spent some time on a Mustang 'vert last month in California, again, I wouldn't blow that kind of money on an American car. Not an ML63, but a CLS E55... how 'bout this a nice looking one, someone is interested in this...
  16. LOL seems that its looks still draws comments, don't bother me that much though. I'd driven a Turbo, a quick blast up to Wainuiomata and back to Petone, 20l/100kms. Impressive though. Fuel consumption is expected from something that big and heavy same with brake pads and tyres, and what I've heard that its drive shaft and coolant pipes will have to be replaced sometime in its (early) life. These two are costly to do especially with the coolant pipes where you wouldn't get any warning (sometimes) and the only time you know is when your coolant is mixed with engine oil! RR .... Clinton returned his after a few months. Q7, isn't this uglier than a Pepper (Cayenne)? X5 has to be E70 which has to have the specs I want, which not many of them do apart from LCIs. 997/996 can't take a family of three. CLS ........ Maserati 3200 = money pit Or keep the E60, there is always that option Edited: added the Maser
  17. A simple question ..... What do you all think of Cayenne '03-'10 S variety, and the Turbo. Porsche forum is very informative if you're in the States, and I don't think there is the equivalent of bimmersport forums for P-cars in NZ. Edited: typo

    Social Worker

Haha how appropriate in tjis world gone PC mad
  19. $45? That's really cheap, in Jeff Gray Welly it costs at least $60 + GST!!
  20. You're kidding right? I bought a '94 Familia w/ a/c, p/s for less than the Alto's asking price. Oh congrats BTW What's next, dropped or airbags? Big exhaust, change the steering wheel? ha ha ha
  21. Well that's a bit late isn't it, even if it was a huge mistake :-) Welcome and enjoy your car!
  22. Sorry, on a different time zone at the moment. Good? For a graduate at least A- average and has done Comp Sci. Honours degree.
  23. Development Manager (mostly Java & 1 C++) for the metservice. Any good Wellington-based Java developer here?
