  1. See my listings here: Trademe listings Will do a package of front & rear pads with sensors if required. PM for details.
  2. It's the wish of the Retailers Association to have GST charged on all packages coming in, while the Government is not too keen to collect small change. Reading on a few more paragraphs the Retailers Association don't even know how to get GST collected on all purchases. "Mr Albertson said the association had not worked out how to collect the GST on online purchases would work, but he believed there "must be" a way to divert the tax to the Government when the purchases were made, with most of the transactions made on credit or debit cards." Yeah right, would Visa and MasterCard do this work for the government for free? Will there be a cut that the Government have to pay for the card issuers? So it's going to be GST + additional fee? Wishful thinking, and unlikely to happen.
  3. Wonder why. They should have the same complexity, apart from the dreaded iDrive.
  4. Which warranty company are you with? So far what I've seen that a lot of them don't want to insure S-classes, AMGs etc.
  5. Rear brakes (pads and rotor) including installation is about $2k for my 911. Will be around half of that if I source the parts from the UK or USA, and get Powerhaus to do the work. FYI, Porsche dealer charges $120+GST, Powerhaus $85(?) + GST. Point is, source your parts o'seas, and get a good indy to do the work for you. I heard good things about Autothority in Chch, lots of PCNZ members using them.
  6. That's what I thought. A few times in just one drive I'd get ONE chirp which caused me plant my foot on the brake, then nothing. Half a minute later, a cop car drove past. This was in middle of nothingness of SH1 from Taupo to Wellington. So no electric doors!
  7. I'm running a cheapo Uniden at the moment, playing around with it. Even that had helped a lot several times. Would cops know that someone is using radar detector? Once I spotted a cop car, travelling in the same direction, a fair distance away over twisty bits, and at the same time the unit chirped. But after that it stayed quiet while I slowly caught up to the cop. I suspect he turned his unit off as my detector didn't react at all.
  8. Mate, they'll put it in the lot for $50k. That'll give them a lot of leeway for having it on 'special' if it doesn't sell after a few months.
  9. I have these parts for sale, complete set of front and rear brake pads with sensors. Let me know if you want the whole thing as a set. Tardme
  10. Give David McDonald from Aon a call. I insured my P car with him on a very reasonable premium, agreed value, which is good as it's not a common car. t: +64 3 367 2893 | f: +64 3 367 2899 | m: +64 272 60 60 80 e: david.macdonald@aon.co.nz | w: aon.co.nz He might be able to do something for you.
  11. Mate, read through this, should answer most of your questions. Detailing nitty gritty
  12. I'd suggest either you get a good paint shop to do paint correction for you, or you need to do it properly. I somehow has misplaced the link that teaches newbie how to select the appropriate equipments, pads, solutions etc. The obvious thing you'd need a DA (dual-action) machine not just orbital especially if you've never done this before. Unfortunately Super Cheap and good quality buffer can't be in the same sentence together. If you want a good DA, Ryobi ERO750VK, has been said to be good enough and not a handful. It only costs about $120-ish at Mitre 10 or Bunnings.
  13. What could be worse than it's not working? You wouldn't make the dent worse, or harm the paint (assuming you've cleaned the part of the car beforehand)? More interesting question is where can you get dry ice in Wellington?
  14. @Tristan: thanks mate. I think the car was sent to a groomer just of Basin Reserve, however it didn't have the finish it has now. The leather seats definitely need a good conditioning, interior was dusty and smelled of a used car. Luckily no one was stupid enough to put ArmorAll on the dash. Took me about 2 hours to clean the leather interior, applied leather cleaner, followed by conditioner. I use products from Gliptone, which I had recommended to people in this board before. The interior now smells amazing. The cloth used to clean driver's seat turned black from the 7 year accumulation of dirt etc. Defects on the exterior were tiny scratches, very obvious spider webbing, the paint didn't have a smooth finish (water wasn't beading on the surface), alloy wheels were dirty with contaminants. I spent about 5 hours washing, claying the whole car (not too bad actually), applying Meguiar's paint cleaner, and sealing with Meguiar's NXT wax. Alloy wheels were also clayed and waxed, but I couldn't be bothered to take them off. I will still need to clean and treat the roof (both soft and hard-top), and go round the car with Ultimate Compound to remove scratches. The original condition of the car was bad enough, even my wife, who doesn't really pay any attention to cars, was hassling me to wax it! I haven't started using polishing machine yet, will probably use this Christmas holiday learning how to use one properly. More modern engine? I don't know, I tried to drive carefully, coasting to a stop, smooth acceleration, not using a/c, I still get 14l/100km after a day in town. I got so sick of the car, I just floored the accelerator whenever I can as it didn't make any difference to fuel consumption.
  15. Haha, it's actually hands-free. You plop in your sim card to the PCM module then everything is hands-free operation. I guess the handset is there if you'd like some privacy. They still have to deliver the roof. Seriously, the hard-top is still at the dealer since I can't be bothered bolting it to the car when picking it up.
  16. It was on the bucket list unfortunately I didn't tick off item on my bucket list. I merely replace it with the upgrade e.g. a 997 Turbo Cab looks really delicious However a friend who once owned a 997 (he's an E60 owner now) said that everyone should try to own a 911 once in their life. I was really disappointed by my E60 fuel consumption. BMW says it's normal. If 911 and 5 series both use fuel at roughly the same rate why would I want to drive Euro barge if I can have Euro rocket. Hence I swapped the barge with a rocket. Remember this was the old engine that was used in E39 (in my barge), I might have too much expectation, still....
  17. There is another topic I started when I got the car however since there were a number of things needed to be done (including a full clay and wax), I held off taking pictures. Until today that is. The car is a UK/Japanese import 2003 911 (996) Carrera 4 Cabriolet. Bought as a UK spec car from a dealer in Denmark. Imported to Japan in 2006 (probably by the original owner). Then came to NZ in 2007 (Christchurch), and ended up in Wellington in 2008. It's fully loaded, heated seats, Porsche Communication Management, telephone, cruise control, leather seats, tiptronic, 18 inch Carrera wheels, hard-top, and PSM among other things. Speedo is in miles, but there is a digital speedo in kph that I use. One word about 911; AWESOME. While my BMW has a very polite power delivery mechanism 'Power sir? Certainly'. The P-car would say 'Power? Here! Grrrrrrrrr. Sure you can handle it? Grrrrrrr. More power? Grrrrrrrr'. I love moving it into the garage, the engine note alone melts my heart ...... 90kph to some unmentionable speed in 2 seconds. 0-100kph at 5.5 s, at second gear. After every drive I climbed out feeling both happy and scared. While I miss my electric-memory seat, automatic light, front PDC; I don't miss the rain sensor, crap stereo, terrible gas mileage (14l/100k around Wellington city!) from my 5 series. BTW, my gas milage is about 11-15l/100km in the P car, and that involves some red-lining from time to time. Insurance was a bit troublesome. Vero wanted to put an additional $5,000(!) excess on top of a $300 normal + $705 high performance vehicle excess. Obviously I gave them the finger and some fine swear words. If you get a 911, call David Mcdonald from Aon, their policy even includes cover for track days. Enough talking, here are the pictures:
  18. I don't think so as it's more a shade of brown while yours is like metal grey. What's your paint code?
  19. Pics up, sorry for the delay pictures The rubber mat has some scuff mark down at the heel, of driver side. Other than that they haven't had any proper clean since 5 and a bit years ago. The touch-up paint is obviously still has lots left in the can. The key-ring is still in good condition, it's replica, and ring itself is kind of gold yellow, not white. Any questions, ask me. They'll go in trademe next week.
  20. FYI, I just paid $299 to change my BMW euro plate to Porsche euro plate. Also changed the colour to black and added a couple of spaces between characters. I was told that the price was originally $499 and people complained so they reduced it down to $299. Go into the group buy as personalised plates are ripping people off!
  21. keyring and tyres, first dibs martyn I'll confirm the size of the tyres, and upload some pics of both items, hopefully tonight.
