Mileage? How much did you pay for it? I'm selling mine which looks exactly like yours I'd like to know what is "goooood price"
-
How true! We can almost load anything at the back of the Compact. Strangely enough 2005/6 320i cost around the same as 2004 118i, don't know why. Not looking for diesel as we won't be doing the mileage to justify the additional purchase cost (as they are even more rarer).

Arrrgghhhh, poor Porsches!! You don't want to be the driver that causes all of these.....
-
Thanks for the feedback, the wife now would like to see at E90s as they cost around the same. Time to trawl car yard tomorrow for a suitable one.
-
Clicky Don't know, might be getting a car from the UK though, resell price a couple of yrs later would essentially be the landed price. Esp. with getting VAT back....
-
Would see whether he'd discount $2-3k :-) Was an ex-demo car.
-
Thanks. Control unit would be on the $1k mark while a sensor is $200, if all 4 then would be getting up there too.... BM Workshop told the owner it doesn't need to be sorted out til the next service meaning not a WOF issue? Car doesn't have multi-function wheel or cruise, less interesting to me now. How's 1 series reliability when it's getting to 130000kms mark?
-
Looking for a 1 series for the wife. There is this one in Auckland which throws up ABS, TSC(?) or parking brake lights when hitting speed bumps. This suggests loose or dirty contacts, maybe. BM Workshop which did the last WOF and service said not to worry until the next service. Possibly $500 fix according to them. Would I be a brave chap thinking about buying this car for the price he asks or just send it for a PPI to get difinitive answers. Here is the picture sent by the seller.

Poor BMW. Benz fueled engine? Was it benzin or Mercedes powered engine?

TM

Well I have used mine to transport the three of us to Auckland and back. Napier and back, with no real complain from whoever been at the rear. Both my son and my wife are around 5ft 7in. We used one mid-size suitcase that went in the frunk (front trunk), piled food and jackets at the rear-right seat and off we go.

Quote: E39 Rear Bumper panelbeat/replace+paint

It's not going to be $3000. Unless the whole rear section caves in. -
Friend is looking for a 2003-ish 5 series - advice please
318Touring replied to Sick Puppy's topic in General Discussion
Get an E60, this is one of the reason, this is why. They are really cheap nowadays, $25k-$35k will get her a very nice ones (525 - 545). Some dreamers in TM for sure, but try to get a 530d. -
Unrecognisable E60
-
They are still quite expensive as mostly (99%) will be E90.

I'd like to have a 4-door since the Porker is already a two-door. The missus doesn't need a rocket. Don't really want to see any speed camera letter.
-
The missus is wanting to replace her trusty Compact. The question is, get an E46 320 or 318 - 6 or 4 cylinder car? I've suggested E39 but she doesn't want a 5 series. Taking into account servicing cost etc. It'll be for around town and long distance duty if can't fit people and/or luggage in the Porker. Or an A4? S40? Passat? C-class looks horrible.

Was going to suggest the 911 'til the talk about cost. Not a lot of people use their 911s for 20-25000kms a year apart from a few in the States. I'd be lucky to get 9l/100km even on long distance driving as it is very hard to not plant your foot all the way to the firewall. I don't pay any attention to mpg as I'm too busy grinning while driving the 911 :-) Here is another passing lane ....... Resale for 911 is good though as the first owners had taken the hit.

Yeah me too. My bumper will get repainted next month would be good to get paint protection on it.

Driving without front bumper. Is this legal?
318Touring replied to 318Touring's topic in General Discussion
All good advice, thanks. I'll make sure my wife drives slowly, but not too slow she attarcts attention, and has the quote for the work handy in the car. Possibly slid the plate at the dashboard. it's only a 2km journey up the road to home. -
Only for a couple of kms back from and to the panel beater. Is this legal, OK to do or politically incorrect ()? Don't really want to leave the car at the panel beater over a couple of nights just to repair front bumper. I remembered I got my car back when they were working on the rear bumper a few years back. The route between home and the panel beater won't involve any motorway, only 50k urban roads.

Good outcome from hit-&-run insurance claim
318Touring replied to 318Touring's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I get the same feeling too. I have to find out whether I'll get better deals for my other insurance policies from this broker as well :-) -
Hey congrats. Re CGA, you'll need to tell the dealer you bought it from and give them a chance to rectify the problem. If the car is now at a different city to the selling dealer, you will still have to call the dealer, explain the issue, and work out the next steps from there. The main thing is you'd want to inform the dealer of the issues as soon as they arise.

On Sunday someone reversed to my front bumper at the Wellington library carpark. The driver left without leaving any details. However a parking warden did notice the accident and took down the other car's number plate (the first time I was glad there was a parking warden around). Sent all of the details and quote for repairs to my insurance, which I got from AON Christchurch and I think from Lumley, this morning. What got me worried was the quote came in under my excess, which might leave me with doing the repair myself and trying to recover the cost from the other driver. Something that I wasn't working forward to. However my broker came back saying that the insurance company will pay for the repair and recover the money from the other driver. Fantastic result and one that I was hoping for but worried not going to get. So yay for Lumley insurance and AON! BTW this was on the Porker. Panel beater is Blair Wright Johnsonville.
