  1. While every single car on your list will be top of the range down here, the 1M will probably have the best ROI. It is already a rare beast, with only 12 this year and a further 20 next year. Maybe a little bit more but it is not a full production car. Its rarity will help keep its price high. Remember though car is a depreciating asset unless yours is really really really rare
  2. Need to replace one of the A/C condenser in my 911. Apparently the system needs to be vacuumed out, swap the condenser and re-gas. Any idea of a reliable air con company in Wellington who can do the gas out-in business? Preferably somewhere in Tawa, Porirua or Wellington City area. Not really keen to travel to the Hutt Valley. I'll do the swap myself, quite easy to do, front bumper out, two or three hex screws, fit in new o-rings and new one in. Bob's your uncle.
  3. Looks no different to 997 .... however the interior has been completely remodeled unlike the 996 -> 997 changes
  4. Why is it always a boy from Welly who's gone a bit over the top? Last time a Mitsi, now this ..... I think it's 1800 engine not even 1900.
  5. I did it once. That would be the last time I took a 5 series up the mountain. Took 1/2 hr to fit in rear chains. The car bottomed out on everything. Took another 1/2 hr to fit in the front chains, as snow was getting too much just having rear chains. &%$#% stones got stuck on the rotors making high pitch screeching noises like someone's dragging their nails on a blackboard. From now on we always take the shuttle up the mountain.
  6. +1, it's for traffic going northbound. Very visible, and my radar detector would pick it up way off anyway.
  7. I can think of several other car brands around that price range, second hand though :-( Maserati Quattroporte Porsche Panamera They are also classed as super cars with a more 'unusual' badge. I am in fact currently reading up about the Maser, just in case the temptation is too strong.
  8. Are you living somewhere in the J'ville, Churton Park area? The dude replaced the Mitsi with a C-class and as badly modified.
  9. For all the wrong reasons ...... Some people eh..

    5000cc vs 550cc

The 850 needs euro plates desperately.
  11. That's why I'm paying FBT so I don't have to account for private usage of motor vehicle etc. etc.
  12. At last, someone who's honest about his driving.
  13. Will probably cost twice as much to service and maintain as well. @beemw, you'll need to decide what you'd like to get, drive a couple of examples of both the 3 and 5 series. They are completely different animals, it's like comparing apples to oranges. Another candidate for $25k, test drive the 1 series. I have seen a few that are around the $27k mark, surely the seller (dealer) will let it go for $25k. And it's going to be NZ New which is a plus.
  14. Walking is better, safer, healthier and doesn't kill. How 'bout that?
  15. Gents (and ladies if any), The message is 'speed kills'. It's very politically incorrect to drive above the speed limit and it's not good for the environment. Think about the forest and the birds and the dolphins and whatever else needs saving. BTW, I'm being sarcastic - if you're going to drive above the limit, do it safely, know your own ability, drive to the condition and lastly, get some protection!
  16. I imagine we're talking about laser jammer (srambler) here? Because laser reading can't be ascertained by just one hit, the operator has to get at least two hits on the target car to get an accurate reading. The idea is that the jammer will scramble the first laser hit, beeps and the driver turns off the jammer while slowing down as well (of course). By the time the operator obtains the second reading the speed of the target car will hopefully within the acceptable limit. Or so I was told. It's a necessary equipment in areas where laser radar gun operates.
  17. Yup for the vegies, maybe for the food if you like oily and greasy. Lower Hutt's Saturday morning market is better though.
  18. Actually the left side of the car kind of half supported by the jack, it ripped into the side skirt and the front left of the car was actually on the ground. The pic isn't that clear unfortunately.
  19. Was driving to work today, saw this, reversed back, parked my car and took a couple of pics. Never thought this kind of thing can happen in NZ let alone in Kelburn!! Sorry for the quality of the pictures, I only had my BB on hand and it was still dark at 6.30 this morning.
  20. Tint, proper wheels, and M sport spoiler at the rear.
  21. Do a search here. It's not as straight forward as that unless it's a Singaporean car. These cars are getting quite ridiculously complicated where the factory 'configured' the car to where it'd end up. Replacing components on the car might include a re-programming which where the car's configuration is called up. If a car finds itself in a country different to where it was originally sent to, the re-programming might fail. If re-programming fails ........ You really don't want to find yourself in this situation. Ask around.
  22. I'd check for latest episodes etc. at finalgear.com. This way I won't miss an episode as those guys are pumping these out as soon as someone got a ripped version ready.
  23. Another bump, so this doesn't disappear to the electronic black-hole.
  24. +1 with the 545. Better and more agile car, you'd get the same amount of toys, and you could possibly get HUD in the 545 (or did it come with the 550?). I was once in the same position, 735 or 530. I bought the 530 and never once disappointed with my decision. Depreciation wise, I think E60 has better (lower) depreciation rate than E65.
