  1. Looks completely from the car you picked up in '08!
  2. So how much the original price is?
  3. 03 E60 51,000-ish 96 E36 145,000-ish Familia 134,000-ish
  4. Fast, and not a thirsty beast. My ideal car, especially this comes with HUD, and nav. TM 535d
  5. Why not E39 M5? there is one in TM for $29.5k (private) with 150000kms on the clock. You'll get E65 (730, 735) for that money, and E60 520 (with 2.2l engine).
  6. LOL, mine is a 530i, which you didn't include in the list :-) Will be good if you can check re Dynamic Drive. How far these springs will drop an E60? Also who's in Wellington can do the installation? TIA.
  7. All Compact of that vintage ('98-ish) should be chain-driven. Hence less hassle trying to remember the last cam-belt change.
  8. Keith, for E60 spring, will it be suitable for cars with Dynamic Drive and will it work with the standard suspension (non M-technik). Also do I need to do anything else to wheel alignments etc.? TIA
  9. Paul, I thought you found 2(!) manual E60 in NZ!! Now guys, stop drooling over this sweet (manual) 550
  10. That must be after having Christmas lunch with people from the office. I don't think an MSport 3.0 manual diesel had ever been sold in NZ. I don't think I have ever heard of a manual E60, on whatever platform, in NZ.
  11. Thanks Graham. The silver diesel had actually been down to Queenstown from Auckland, and he was on his way back. So it was covered by bugs at the front, dirt and grimes everywhere else.
  12. If the towels were dragged to dry the car, yes there would be streaking etc. However if it's used exactly like what my son was doing (secure the towel so it won't fall then 'pat', don't drag, the wet areas) :-) I've used BMW's Wash and Wax product before, and I think it was great, although I'd still wax the car afterwards.
  13. In real life the diesel (silver car) is really really low. I couldn't even put a finger between the fender and the tyre. Obviously the fenders were rolled, and the paint on one panel cracked as a result (and repainted of course). The guy installed the M kit, LCI and steering wheel himself.
  14. Only two of us, one from Auckland and one from Wellington (hence NZ mini meet). Not really planned, as the Aucklander managed to get a few hours free after arriving in Wellington on New years day. So we got together at the Loaded Hog first. After a drink moved on to the Parliament ground for some uniquely NZ photo opportunities. The 2004 Titanium Silver 530D has had some modifications done to it (lowered-30mm, authentic 166(?) alloys, M-tech, M-style steering wheel, LCI tail-lights, straight exhaust tips). The 2003 Amethyst 530i Grey is the standard E60 fare, apart from the shadowline style trim.
  15. I use bath towels to dry my car. Instead of moving the towel when drying, I put it on the wet area and 'pat' the towel so it'll pick up water. No scratching, streaking. With big towels and two people you can get through the whole car very quickly, and more important, safely. Also open the doors etc. to aid moving the water along. Also don't wash where the area has direct sunlight. Adjust the nozzle to wide-spray not concentrated, you'll be blasting just one area while with wide-spray you can cover wider areas. I use Meguiars NXT car wash, with Meguiars SwirlX, ScratchX or Ultimate Compund and seal it with Meguiars NXT Wax. My son was helping out, and he became pretty good on vertical panels.
  16. Not yet imported, still in S'pore.
  17. I've actually managed to unscrew the top using a combination of leather belt and generic oil filter removal tool. Phew. Thanks everyone, I'll do the oil change later on today.
  18. Really annoys me it's so hard, why couldn't they make it as simple as other cars. My generic oil removal tool is too big even at its lowest setting. Will check Repco tomorrow to see whether tehy have the removal tool...
  19. This is the one with plastic cap. How the heck can I remove it without BMW snap-on special tool? Any idea? TIA. Oil filter cap (top right of the picture)
  20. I've used sella a few times, including buying tickets to LA from Air NZ!! The variety isn't there yet, and it seems the only popular auctions are Air NZ's ones.
  21. BMW NZ website has a page where you can find out about recalls for your vehicle: BMW recall
  22. Their first response was as expected. While I don't think JG should be coming up with the rust repair, upon evidence that the rust isn't 2 months old , they should apologise and offer to refund the inspection fee. I find customer service of JG in Wellington has worsened quite considerably. Someone told me that a number of Shelly BMW's old customers have been saying the same thing, and they've gone over to the other side of town. For my next car I'm seriously considering of not getting a BMW. A four-door coupe (NOT a 5-series GT) or a certain SUV Sport are more enticing. In saying that, just last week the part guy from JG gave me a free small bottle of touch-up paint as the BMW one I bought somehow didn't match the paint correctly. The one that was mixed by the local panelbeater does.
