M40B16 Singlemass fly conversion question
_ethrty-Andy_ replied to _ethrty-Andy_'s topic in Performance
oh i see. just did a google, i dont really think i need it and probably expencive anyways. due to the apparent unavailability of a (new) dual mass clutch, i have ended up being forced to do this conversion against my will. oh well. Only place that i tried that had one was BMW (obviously) and they wanted 5-600 for it ex germany. uhm i dont think so. to be fair though, most of the driving this car will see is city driving, so maybe a single is better with the constant rpm changes. the 5er is for the long haul stuff! have sourced a singlemass locally thanks Brent! -
M40B16 Singlemass fly conversion question
_ethrty-Andy_ replied to _ethrty-Andy_'s topic in Performance
E30. And your right, it doesnt use much at all. My sort of but not really goal for this car is to make it as economical as possible within reason. ie im not spending $1000 to save .1L/100km. but seeing as im down there i thought id check. Currently im sitting at around 7.2L/100km town driving only, hand calculated so give or take 10%. at 50km/h the econometer says im getting bang on 6. but that was with a slipping clutch too. Thanks! couldnt find a definite answer but was talking to a friend of mine that is into trucks and said that applied there! i dont know what that is? lol n00b -
Considering converting the M40B16 in my 316i to a single mass. i know its easy to do and i may be able to get a hp or 2 from it but i dont really care about that, I am more interested to see how it will affect fuel economy, if at all. Is it (realsitically) worth doing?
-
engine and box are apart to replace the slipping clutch. then realise ive been sent a single mass clutch not a dual mass one. I could send it back and get the right one, but might convert to single mass now its here. maybe the economy machine really is the economy machine, forcing me to use my bike to get around again lol

Any Antique Apple Fans/Collectors/Users?

Based on your name, I think I was (one of) the guy that collected it haha. You must work for Yoobee right? Yours had a few parts i used to help build up this one! That screen in the picture there was from you though! Someone must have connected it to 240V at some stage as the power supply was toasted as these run on american 120V. worked my magic on it and its good to go again! -
dont like black wheels as a rule, but my 5 wagon is red with dark wheels too. i think they look good on yours too!

Yeah, but there is no VGA etc port. strictly VGA. I also have a genuine apple TV swtich box so you can connect it to your TV (well, the tv you had in the early 80s) Great will have a look at that site -
good store that what voltage and capacitance do you need? i might have something at work if its similar to what we use

looks like mine are classified as adaptors then, based on the fact he said the rear ones will be fine even though they are 25mm thick (max is 27mm based on 2.5(4)ci) yay always pays to do things right eh! Heino looks like the max is 27mm whichever way you want to look at it. 2.5(7) says you cant have both either. only way i can see you getting around it is remanufacturing your wheels edit: thanks for the link Josh!

good on you for resisting the temptation to drive it around with no cert! i wasnt that good!
-
stacking spacers is going to be illegal no two ways about that. you would need to get some 30-40mm ones brought/made
-
he will be after 5x120 for his E46 probably non hubcentric arent illegal providing there is still an adequate amount of hub (for want of a more specific word) still available for the wheel sit on. however, any spacer requires cert, and getting it is at the discretion of the certifier. I had some 15mm ones that I had modified to have hubcenteric rings, but they are almost too small to have proper rings due to the 'hub' on BMWs being quite protrusive. below are a pic of mine. the ones with the silver bolts are for the front and are 15mm. were deemed acceptable by a certifier chatted to as they arent going on the driven wheels, though hes not the guy ultimately cert'ing the car. the disks are only pressed about 5mm into the spacer. what im trying to say is, if you get 20mm, you can get disks made for them. using a 20mm spacer, you would be able to use a press of about 10mm and you would be fine for cert. but any less than 15mm is out the question

if your going to buy new springs and shocks, just go straight to coilovers. you dont have to have them wound right down like most people do either

ask one of your mates Jim Jack and Johnny, one of them will know never lit a cigarette in my life and dont intent to! I just cant stand the smell! my neighbours do it all the time so cant even open certain windows on the house, its repulsive. I dont mind people doing it when im not around but when i am...
