  1. If im honest i really did not expect this reaction from you guys! Your all bringing very relevant points to the table, stuff that i hadnt overlooked, but hadnt through 100% @ people telling me to do research for EWS/DME etc, i have no reason to even consider thatas the fault, and my wiring is fine, cross checked with a few obd2 guys from europe (as opposed to the US where there is a possibilty of doubt). Unless there is something thats never been documented before, i have itAlthough im colourblind, i can read numbers on the plugs and read a bunch of zeros on an LCD screen. Its something else. I have not tampered with the loom at all and Brent said the engine was from a running car, and Jon tests all his parts before he sells them. i have no reason to doubt either of them I still have to attach the starter motor up (what a mission thats going to be!), and we will see where we go from there. If it runs then there isnt much left to do.. sorting out the body power leak, hooking up the power steering, making the temp gauge work, and thats virtually it as far as the engine side of my build goes. If it doesnt, i guess Glenn will be getting a delievery ex-Lower Hutt.
  2. yeah leaning towards the part out too, def worth more in bits. though dont want to end up with a shed full of E30 bits after just managing to clear it all out! If i have the time to get it to cert stage then it will be kept. Started this project when i was expecting to be at school this year so would have heaps of time.. stupid work instead ha stfu
  3. To buy some contraband? yeah i was intrested to snatch them thats why i checked on carjam.. wanted to see if the car they were on had been dereged or whatever, coz i thought the europlates with govt issued combinations could be transfered to other cars like personalised plates. But thats all irrelevant anyway now. GL with sale(s)
  4. As everyone knows, im doing the engine conversion. its dragging on and on and every fault i fix leads to new problems. Its definitely not a by the book conversion. it all stems from having a not quite perfect shell to start with. Its structurally mint, but electronically has/had a few quirks since before i brought the car, and they are only worsened by having an engine in the car it wasn't designed for. I just seem to be throwing money and time at a slab of west German steel and not getting anything out of it. Also, family relations are also dicey at best right now, and theres a chance im going to have to leave home soon, in which case the E30 will be in storage, finished or not, anyway. So.. Am considering, a little too seriously than some would like, do i just sell/part the car out or persevere? If i part/sell, i will be buying an E46 25i/28i/30i, either touring or coupe, or an E38. obviously i wont be away from E30s forever, and thus will probably hang on to all of my new E30 suspension stuff and probably the tech2, and selling/parting the rest. If you were in my position, what would you do? (if an E30 isnt your baby, picture being attached so much it hurts to one. Or cutting off an arm, if thats easier for you to imagine) insert usual request to be civilised here
  5. been stealing plates off M5s? BMW008 seems to be on a registered car. just curious thats all!
  6. My mate had an Izuzu VX (google it. awesome looking truck imo, you either love it or you hate it though) that has the same engine as your one. from the passengers seat it felt pretty ballsy. He had to sell it due to fuel economy though, at a shocking 15L/100km after a tuneup/work done by an Izuzu specialist iirc. would imagine the extra bulk of the one your looking at wont do any favours to the preformance, and only worsen the fuel economy.... +1 on a lexus/hilux
  7. If we could get enough people to get a thing together and contact ebay and ask them to make a NZ site, i would say there is a good chance theyd consider it or even action it. Ebay is sooooo huge they can probably afford a few million to invest in NZ to try cut the barrier down. they also have the means to do advertising on telly etc. The other awesome thing that ebay brings to the table that both trademe and Sella doesnt/cant is the world wide aspect. I can sell stuff here, and, if i want to, i can make it available to be shipped world wide, and it will come up on all the various Ebays around the world. especially usefull for us here in NZ where we can get lower prices on a lot of stuff and, even factoring in shipping, is still competitive. For example, a good condition e30 tech2 wheel for 60euro a few weeks ago ex-UK. thatd be less than $200NZ taking into account shipping/customs etc.. good luck finding one of those here for that price
  8. That one above is not rice.. thats what manufacturers do to "hide" the curves of the car is the third photo all you need for a night? bahaha http://www.jimmy540i.com/bmwnightmare.htm <- better rice thread

  10. lol just edited that out... decided i wouldnt want that on my for sale thread ha. But these cars are something else!! Please tell me they arent integra lights on that 5er!? E: Loving the widebody on stock wheels too
  11. unless theres an identical one around, it lives about half way between your (old?) house and Ian's down one of the side streets, i saw it once when i was attempting to take the back roads to his house and realised you couldnt/got lost hahaha
  12. probably the tech1 thats on there for $1 Res. not actually that rare
  13. Bump. Also note inclusion of AC Schnitzers also for sale. Strictly a conditional sale on the purchase of other rims. This means, even if you agree to price, please dont be disappointed if i need to keep them. However your expression of interest/offer is welcome, and if/when i decide to sell them, you will have first dibs on them. Thanks
  14. awesome! other than it going to be harder to install being bigger im happy thanks for your help!
  15. yeah i was sure it wasnt just my imagination that it seemed bigger. It fitting is what i wanted to hear! Pretty sure its out of an E30 though (seller may be able to verify on here). The early M20s didnt have a double mass flywheel or anything like that i need to be concerned about?
  16. -- Will take the braided lines if they are still there next week. This weeks pay check is already accounted for lol
  17. Hey guys. picked up a starter but it was night time so didnt check it over. Went to install today and noticed it has tabs as terminals rather than nuts. Never seen a starter like this.. anyone recognise what is it out of? And more importantly is it going to bolt onto the M40G240 and mesh with the M20 flywheel like the M20 starter thats on there now? I can make the wiring work. Part numbers on it (which dont come up on realoem in neither 7 or 11 digit form) are 0 001 311 125 1 005 823 339 thanks, Andy
  18. No 180 km/h limiter on my Jap assembled E30.
  19. yep you could do that. i have been told the B25 intake itself is actually bigger, but i havent measured or anything so im not sure if it actually is or not. tbh.. unless you are getting the parts for free just leave the intake alone. Money is better invested in the exhaust which is quite restrictive in b20 form.
  20. nice find! tech2 verts on RS are to kill for
  21. cant remeber if Oli's (E30li) car has the spolier or not, but he may be able to refer you to a pic
  22. Thats why i used to run one, and probably will continue too on the M52.. at least for the short term anyway
  23. would the difference between the whiteline ones or the ones Graham suggested over and beyond the OE equipment retrofitted in be worth the extra spending? Its going to handle like its on rails anyway, but like someone said on that linked thread, its only as good as the weakest link. Not sure on the spring rates, but im sure they are quite stiff.. H&R arent known to put soft rates on thier lowering springs.
