  1. oh nah i know they wont want it there that long. They are on my case about all my cars/shells strewn about the place as it is lol. GL with finding somewhere.
  2. Alpina Tach Strip Order List 1: Nick021 2: ethrty320 3: APT - ANDREW 4: BMPower 5: 6: 7: 8: 9: 10: ..Because i felt the need to edit my name
  3. can talk to the 'rents about it if your stuck. how long are we talking?
  4. My words exactly! Nah its the E30 touring about half way through. video maker could have cut to the chase a little sooner
  5. Found this posted on BF and i suddenly dont feel safe in my E30 any more!
  6. check those rear tyres! i wonder what they are... also wonder what the base car is. My mate said last night a lot of people base ferrari replicas on toyota MR2s, but thats had way too much work to be an MR2
  7. +1 Already have the bushes here ready to go, havent investigated tackling it yet though. Will probably just give the car to my mates Dads shop though, i hate mucking around with E30 suspension with a passion. Would be good to give him some resources in case he needs them
  8. Sweet ill pop down next week and see if i can find what your talking about Ill let you know how i get on (if i remember to post haha) Thanks
  9. seems easy enough did you see my edit above? really appreciate the help!
  10. ^oh righteo! Rookie mistake! Was having a troll before and found some people suggesting to check the 'spray bar' isnt clogged up with crap.. Is that the same as the thin piece of metal that is inside the M20 head? how would i go about testing that, as its says to 'clean' it, but wouldnt that be hard given the channels in it probably are quite narrow? Edit: and if that bar is fine, should the hydraulic lifters be replaced or just left? tbh i dont really know exactly what they do.. i havent had the need to play around an M40 before, nor with a head of any engine before so i dont know the details of how they work (i do have a broad idea)
  11. Damn you. id been off Bebo for 4 years and proud.
  12. is that likely to happen on a low kms engine like this one though? Your saying that it does provide adequate lubrication.. so suggesting i just leave it alone? Should i check valve clearances or anything like that?
  13. had some time today and decided to pull out my 318i for bit a spruce up and its got a bit of ticking going on and want to get your opinion. I know on M20s its quite common, but im not sure about the M40, it has only done 115xxx kms. It quietens down once the car is warmed up, but its still there, and noticeable on acceleration. Is automatic if that matters. Also how to you fix idle amount on the M40? Same idea as the M20? (didnt actually spend any time looking to be honest so if its obvious sorry!). Its around 600 and doesnt seem to like it, and a 2 second search on google says it should be around the 750 mark. Edit: 600 in drive and on the brake, rises to 650 in neutral and has a more solid but still lumpy idle) thanks! Andy
  14. V8 for sure. Rays 540i was awesome from the passenger seat!
  15. Yeah i got that too the one time i let the guy fill it up. was in auckland nearish to Queen street (only know that because we stayed on Queen) on a corner shaped like a V and the forecourt was on a huge lean. was a Shell iirc. anyway pulled out and then got back onto the flat an spilled everywhere all along the road. If hed left it when it clicked it would have been fine! Edit: they did that in my Nissan before i got my bimmer (a station in lower hutt) and it made the inside of the car all fumey for some reason.
  16. ^+1 Though if you use a credit/debit card you can. They wont do it for eftpos though
  17. can anyone else see E30 M3 in pic 4 and 5 or is it just me? lol
  18. To be an auto electrician these days, there is no entry criteria, and what they do in training: Year1: Overview of all things automotive to give a broad base knowledge Year2: Fairly comprehensive in electronics systems, but does not cover anything developed in the last 5 years like sat nav/on board computers/iDrive (and equivelent from other marques) etc Year3: Part timme class work, part time Work experience Year4: Your on your own To be a mechanic or motorbike mechanic or deseil mechanic its the same, with Year 2 swapped out for the appropriate course. Pretty pathetic really imo. I was going to do that this year but due to reasons beyond my control i couldnt. My mates doing it though and he hasnt learnt anything yet and we are almost half way through the tertiary year last i checked?
  19. check by the output shaft. Both my G240s (one for M40 one for M20) both had it by the output shaft. if its not there check up by the bellhousing on the otherside to where it says either BMW or Getrag. Pretty sure its there on 260s. either way its the last 3 numbers of the part number
  20. Do want! rather it was white and had the round tails though
