The licence key isn't tied to hardware... It's an algorithim. As stated before, the key will no doubt be for an OEM install (same as what comes with new pc's / laptops), so if he used a different version of XP i.e. a retail version or corperate version it will not work. If you did use an OEM version i.e. the XP that came with the laptop the key will be valid regardless of what the machine is installed on (desktop/laptop/rack mounted), it will be the activation key that will be causing the problem. Typically you get 5 installs before the internet activation doesn't work, at that point you call MS and punch in the numbers and wait for the automatied service to either give you the numbers you need or tell you it's been activated too many times - at which point the automatied service will pass you onto an operator. Tell the operator your re-installing the operating system onto you machine after getting a new harddrive for your laptop. The OEM versions typically have specfic drivers for that model of pc you bought so you don't need to download drivers to get the system working, thats typically the only differance other than a different algorithim to the retail version. With Vista, you can use any version of Vista to install with as the key will unlock or lock features of the OS. Vista Enterprise is the only one that doesn't work that way.

Try 6 months of disputes with vodafone - including having the phone disconnect and account sent to a collections agency... even tho i was paying my bill... I had a massive bill due to failure of their systems, text account balance, self-impossed credit limits, wrong address in the system (a place i had never lived). I think i ended up calling them over 30 times in 4 months to try and sort it out. Their collections department only works from 9-5, and have no inbound lines (SO YOU CAN'T CALL THEM!)...

hehe your really loving that frenchy now aren't you...Â

There was 3 different types of the 2 XP's avialable OEM, Retail, and Corp there is a small file that identifies what version you have. If you try to use a OEM licence key on a Retail copy of XP it will not work and likewise for the other 3 vesions. Are you installing XP from your original laptop discs?Â

If they ask just say you have put a new harddrive into your pc. You don't need to really disclose anymore information than that. Office and Windows have a limit to the number of times it can be automatically activated before you need to call them and get them to provide you with a new activiation key. Never had a problem in the 20+ times i've had to call them. Just tell them you have re-installed windows and it's asking you for the key.

Thats all good man, i wasn't sure if you guys knew or not... Hopefully the next gig will be better... Definantly want to come see you guys live again... Maybe just not at Zen... =;-)

Sorry i didn't get to catch up with many of you... Turned out to be a bit of a strange night, my friend was still working until 12:30 so didn't make it in until 1:30ish... Unfortantly the sound system put anouther friend of mine off and he left not long after 2ish... It was a pity really I loved the album, but couldn't really get into the atmosphere - Fu was dead when you guys where playing as 90% of people where in Zen. If you where are at the back of Zen the sound was really muffelled and sounded overdriven... It was really good to see a singer and a guitarist playing but you guys where seriously let down by the sound setup. Hope your night was good...  Looked like a good number of people there...

Hello one and all... According to State Insurance New Zealand is not a safe place to live and prices for parts and other items has increased so they are increase the GF's insurance fee's... They actually told me over the phone that New Zealand is no longer a safe place to live. Not only have they dropped the value of the 307 by $3,400 (from $18.9k (july last year) to $15.5K) but they have subsuquently increased the yearly preimum by $250. Spoken to Peugeot who sold us the car and they will do a valuation for around 18k if we wish as proof to the insurance companies. Now my obviuosly boy racer GF ( ) is driving a heavy modified car... read: H&R springs, CAI, Tints, Stereo... She's being declined cover (qoutes) by some of the insurers out there as she's driving a modified car... So far 2 insurers have told us to go use NAC, as they are the only people covering modified vehicals... I find it really interesting that Vero who underwrite Classic Cover (who cover my racecar) will not insure it also... Who does everyone else use? Also am i wrong to thing that we are now starting (well have been) paying for the boy racers out there that have given people that slightly upgrade their cars a really bad name as they can now not distinuish between someone like my GF that is soo far from a boy racer it's not funny, and the local idiots...Â

I find this a rather interesting question given that motorcycle helmets are rated for motorcycle use and the type of impacts experanced in motorcycle crashes are much worse than those of car crashes, where typically the biggest chance of impact is with the window/b piller... The general advantages of going up in $$$ is moving from plastic to fiberglass to composite/carbon/kevlar helmets (putting aside weight) as the fibreglass and carbon/composite helmets dispurse the impact more effectively through the helmet instead of at the point impact like the plastic helmets.price ranges are typically $0 - $200/$250, $250 - $400/$500, and $600+. Then you start looking at specific helmet for the style of racing your going to be doing - open face, with or with intercom, wide eye port, HANS etc... I know the helmet i would like to get is around $1400 and is the Sparco WTT TK-RALLY Cardwells have a SimpsonHelmet on special at the moment... Simpson Shark helmet ( SA2000 ) suit stockcar or speedway, was Simpsons top of the line carbon helmet 1 only size large 71/2" 59cm-60cm only $650+gst recommend replacement cost $1488+gst picture shows helmet with silly optional chin spoiler - this is not included.

It seams that most euro small car auto's from the era of 98 - 05/06 seam to have problems from what i've heard from a few dealers and mechanics... If they are mantained well they are ok, but if they are not looked after then they have problems. The 307 diesel auto's are good, i know a bunch of people in aussie with those without a problem. If the new 207 uses the same gearbox as the 308 then it's a porsche developed system and it was FANTASTIC is the 308 diesel. In saying that we know 2 family friends with 307 auto's and they are fine... both NZ new and full service historys... Avoid any Alfa selespeed import, they didn't get the gearbox update that the NZ new models did. I have a friend that works for Alfa and those are his words...Â

Ya man that will be fine... It's even fine for entry level clubman events... Just remember it's your first time out there - go have fun... You can take the car out, see what it does and should you get bitten by the trackday/motorsport bug then you can look up upgrading everything on the car (as you will want to) RE: Tools - Beer and Piza = great incentives for people to provide assistance...
-
as said most motorcycle helmets will do, there is specific ratings you need if you want to do club man events (snell, E, etc...) brands like ffm, oxsford, hgc, etc... Typcally all meet these requirements. You will also want to make sure you get a double D metal strap not a plastc slide chin strap as some trackday people don't like these as you might catch it and release the helmet in an accident. Also get a fullface helmet, heard and seen broken jaws, noses, black eyes, and people being knocked out by their own hands/arms in a crash. Have a look on the motorsport nz site for a fitment guide. Also shop around motorcycle shops will vary greatly in price ($30 on low end helmets) and we saw the same helmet FFM at repco ($200) where at most of the motorcycle shops it was sub $135 check your pads for life left, if you can't remember the last time you bled your brakes do that also. Maybe look a upgradng to a decent brake fuild a good dot 4 or something motul rbf600/660 f your really going to be pushing it. As this is your first time out I wouldn't worry to much about spendng lots on new pads (unless you need new pads) and stuff as you might not like it and not want to do it again. Go out have fun and see whatneeds upgradi g for the next one after that. car prep = remove all loose stuff from the car (crap in glovebox, crap in boot, CDs, etc), check all fuilds for level and quailty (when did you last do an oil change), check plugs, air filter, etc... Check wheel bolts, engine mounts (visually), if your really keen throw a spanner over all the suspension bolts. But really check oil for level and quality. Brakes for pad life and disc life. Clean out car of crap. After check brakes again... Ohh also check coolent levels...

206 autos = bad 206 man = very good The 206 is a fantastic little car, I was looking at getting a gti 180 before I got the 205... A lot of people actually prefer the gti over the gti 180 as it devlops it's power lower in the rev range this makng it better around town. As with all cars they have their common faults. Biggest things with pugs is they need to be regularly maintained or they hate you and breakdown. Much like any car. Parts aren't hard to get as some will lead you to believe. If you want space and some peep look for a 206 gti sw. They also have a glass roof which doubles the feel of the interior space. Becareful as map import sw's are typically 1600's. S16's = jap imported gti's and RC's = imported gti 180's

The GF ended up getting a 04 307 XSP (man) last year after looking around for a new car to replace her 96 Misty Cyborg RS. She had her heart set on an Alfa 147/156 but once we got in them it was way too small and cramped feeling. Took it for a drive and 200m down the road decided to buy it on the spot after 2 weekends of looking and test driving other things. The only thing i would HIGHLY recommend if you get a 307 is to talk to Keith straight away and get the 307 H&R lowering springs for it. It does lower the car that much but it's a night and day differance in handling... No wallow just nice firm (not harsh) handling... Also it completely changes the stance of the car - looks much better... If you can streach for it get the HDI - but avoid the auto's lots of problems for the guys i know at CCS and a few other workshops, mainly the jap imports. Can supply photos of stunning looking 307 if you like... The 207's are getting to be cheapish... and a phenominal car: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-209501697.htm i know the guy selling this one... The A3 didn't have much for the prices they want for them and are essentially a pricey golf, and again small inside. The only nice A3 is actually a S3... wouldn't touch the rest. The golfs are ok, lack personality i feel... Also they are rather slow... If your looking at the Audi/VW range - i'd look at the Skoda's much higher spec for the same money, and if you can find a Octavia VRS diesel they are fantastic... Beetles = VERY dated, and essentiall a golf... Focus = good car, lots of ex-lease/rep cars out there...
