  1. I have no idea what sparked this thread, but it seems like a good place to vent my opinion of this forum. Members of this forum have clearly created their own little in-club which is not at all friendly to new members like myself. Eg I made a post in this thread (where everyone was voicing their disgust about the wheels in the link) where I said that I quite like them, bust mostly because I have a distaste for most of the wheels that are popular amongst the incumbent population here. Why was that deleted? How is my opinion not valid there? I guess I was expecting (naively) that a BMW forum would have a modicum of intelligence compared with other car forums, but alas most of the members here are the same breed to be found in the Toyota/Honda/etc forums - the same people who get pleasure from loud exhausts, big shiny wheels and thumping ridiculous sound systems. /vent
  2. Why do my posts keep getting deleted?
  3. It's been less than two weeks hasn't it? Be patient, panel beaters can get busy too. You're not necessarily priority number one, even if you feel you should be. It's taken me about four weeks the two times I've had cars in to be fixed up for accident damage.

I like them. Then again, I hate about 99% of the wheels in the "sick wheelz brah" thread, so I guess I'm more a fan of the understated look.
  5. I'm buying something from this thread if I win lotto tonight
  6. This is getting tiresome, and I'm only a new member. I certainly don't experience this in any other forums I use - I suspect security protocols on this site may be a little on the light side.
  7. A Generation III reactor can be run safely by well trained monkeys - the fail-safe safety properties mean you'd have to be trying really damn hard to cause a meltdown. And even in the case of a meltdown (the worst-case scenario for a nuclear plant), there would be next to no leakage of waste products.
  8. Got a link for those UK ones? Ta.
  9. If I understand what you're saying (and I'm not sure I do, to be honest), you're wrong. Spamming is incredibly lucrative, hence it's so prolific. Spamming methods have become quite sophisticated in order to keep up with changing anti-spam technologies.
  10. It's pretty rare these days that clicking a link can do any damage.
  11. With all the bad rep being thrown around, I want to give a plug for a very professional panel beating workshop in Tauranga - Smith and Boyle. I had my car in there under insurance for frontal impact repairs, and was extremely happy with the job they did. They also gave me a courtesy car, and detailed my car before it left the shop. I had a second lot of repairs done under insurance about a year later - the insurance company told me to take it to another workshop, but I requested Smith and Boyle. Again, they produced outstanding results. The second time I noticed a small amount of primer overspray on my front guard - took it back to them and they removed the overspray and buffed the panel while I waited. A very professional group.
  12. That sucks - I often worry about my vehicle when it's with any service agent. Luckily for me, every experience I've had with mechanics and panelbeaters has been satisfactory. If I were you I'd go and talk to them - they might be perfectly reasonable about it all. Also keep in mind that scratches on your door may have happened before or after the panelbeaters, not necessarily while the car was with them.
  13. I wonder if any of the potential buyers had a mechanical assessment done on the vehicle.
  14. God people are retards, blaming a finance company for trying to recover costs on a vehicle over which they clearly hold a lien. The fault here quite obviously lies with the builder of the car. In fact, the finance company is being very generous giving the proceeds over the reserve to the Trust.
  15. What they paid for it has exactly nothing to do with what it's worth.
  16. I say definitely chrome, but I think that black looks tacky as hell in any case.
  17. Cheers, I'll give you a call tomorrow.
  18. Hi, I have a 540i e34 that came with the Sony XR-U550, but the LCD display is buggered and the front channels cut in and out. If someone has one of these available, or even just the faceplate, I would be very interested. Has to be in good working order. Alternatively, if someone has another radio that will plug directly in (dont care if it uses the CD stacker) and will work fine with the existing four speakers, I could be interested. Has to be a no-hassle install (plug-out/plug-in replacement) and in good condition. PM or email contact@chrisdoms.com Thanks.
  19. That's a manifestly retarded statement. Seriously, do you even think before you type? Have you seent he directly correlating increase in crime in neighbouring states? If you're a criminal on two strikes in California, quite obviously you're going to make the short drive to a neighbouring state to continue your career. That doesn't mean they stop commiting crime, does it?
  20. Well that's a perfectly rational response Do you really believe this? I don't know how much research has to go into this before people will get it into their dense brains that this type of punishment DOESN'T REDUCE CRIME. Concern about consequences plays almost no role in the decision to commit crime - it's been so thoroughly researched it's amazing people still havent accepted it.
  21. That's a completely absurd opinion. Shooting someone if they present immediate physical harm to you is fine, but shooting someone in the back as they ride away on your quad bike isn't. He wasn't protecting his family, he shot a guy in the back as he ran away, which is cowardly. No matter what opinion you have of the thief, human life > quad bike.
  22. Someone got a bargain. This should put the current value of these cars into perspective for some people.
  23. Most of the bidding will occur in the last hour. You see it every time.
  24. Looks a bit too "japanese" for my taste. Too much like an average rice rocket cosmetically.
  25. I agree. Auctions are a commitment, and if you're not willing to make that commitment then list a classified.
