  2. +1 for Qualitat. All the dealings I had with them were great, Shane's a bloody good sort too!
  3. M50B25NV head. Still has valve stems, springs and rockers. Bare head only now. Not overheated. Cams, trays, cover, manifold etc not available. $300 $200 ono for BS members. 4. It's not until you cn't use vowel nymore tht you strt to relise ust how hrd it cn be to communicte when you're 20% devoweled. I miss my Edit: But it does give me the opportunity to lern txt spk
  5. If you're deleting the vanos a normal M50 one would fit too
  6. The a key on my laptop has shat itself, am now copying and pasting til I can get a new one (if they're even still available)
  7. Less parasitic loss through less mass in 188mm diff vs 210mm. Comes at the sacrifice of strength but I don't imagine he'll be looking to feed 750hp & 650lb/ft of torque through it so it shouldn't matter
  8. Probably a bit quicker without that pesky door too!
  9. For a 4k build budget I suspect you'd run outta dough long before the engine was ready to drop in the hole. My brother in law recently rebuilt an audi v6 with custom spec wiseco pistons, by the time they'd shipped here from the US he'd burnt $1800. add rings, bearing shells, gaskets etc etc etc and the cost soon starts mounting. Shrick cams won't be cheap!
  10. & radiators, water pumps, hose couplings, thermostat housings, fan blades, fan shrouds...............
  11. Nice wee score! Got it all figured out for ya: M62 + VF s/c + 420G + BBS LM. always reckoned I was good at algebra
  12. I never suggested you were the only nutter round here!
  13. Lol, doh!! Life can have a cruel sense of humour sometimes /
  14. One resource that helped me get my head round the topic was realoem. The exploded diagrams lead to a few 'Eureka' moments for me, anyway. Especially around why x diff casing won't fit y models
  15. Internals can be swapped but it's not really a DIY job. Rear cover also houses the mounting bushes, I'd be pretty surprised if the carriers & mounts are the same between E34-36. as far as I'm aware all BMW diffs are clutch pack designs so to the best of my understanding the tech is the same. I did a whole heap of digging around on the topic while researching my options for fitting a medium case limited slip to my 325i. Holden LS pumpkins are possibly able to work as they used zf units very similar to the ones supplied to BMW but I never got to find out if they are in fact the same unit. Quite possibly use different crown wheel bolt patterns but they're often cheap enough to make it viable to buy one to open up & take some measurements
  16. Looking good so far! Your young fella must be stoked! are you planning to use the MS43 DME or are you going to run different ecu?
  17. Well, that just makes them all the more compelling!
  18. The E31s are a great car, don't get me wrong, but I think you're criminally insane wanting to sell your almost completely overhauled E39 for a totally unknown car on the other side of the world. Plus I'd imagine parts availability for the 8s would just be a nightmare. Engine & drivetrain would be ok, but any interior trims or such, forget it. Keep the 540i & strap that VF kit on. I'd wager you'll probably end up with a rarer car than the 840i anyway
  19. argh, that sucks man hate to say it but it's either been nicked for parts or as a getaway for some lowlife bunch of toerags. Hope you're insured! Dicks
  20. I'd vote for the 335i touring. 225kW / 400Nm claimed output, but I have seen a few threads around that claim BMWs figures were a tad conservative. Wiki claims one 'independant' test produced 248kW/422Nm, though it was conducted by Dinan, so my inner sceptic is a little dubious. Touring +300lb/ft = Go for it!
  21. You're kidding, right? Where the hell do you dig this sort of info up from??
  22. Rolling on bling bling chromies too..................
  23. Bearing in mind that the powder in dry extinguishers gets absolutely bloody everywhere & is acidic it is best to try controlling the fire with other means first.........not sure I'd be brave enough to try cranking my way through an engine fire! Still, fail for not having one at hand for an unexpected situation! Dirty valve stems is still better than a burnt out shed
  24. Mmmmm, big brake goodness! Coming along nicely
