  1. Oh dear me!!! Probably quite fortunate it broke instead of causing a fire!
  2. Custom driveshafts will require certification + hoops etc. Might be less expensive to find a manual & strip it for parts for yours
  3. BMW diesels would be the way to go but it would be the death of the government of the day. If the greens have anything to do with it they'll all be pursuing crims in hybrid camrys while threatening to use their solar charged tasers. It'll be the highway plods in oz that will be screaming foul. No more 6.2l V8 patrol cars for them!
  4. Bit optimistic describing an aftermarket filter in a stock airbox as a 'cold air induction' system. Bit pricey at those k's too. 4.5-5k would be the most I'd offer. Mind you, at least the pricing is more realistic than this! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/540i/auction-673166286.htm
  5. I kind of agree. I was a VERY happy boy when the news came out that BMW were to use a V8 in the E46s successor. I realise full well that emission standards are now far tighter and yada yada but I'm more than a little sad that BMWs staunch support of NA engines has drawn to a close. Perhaps that will be the E9x M3s saving grace. Last of the non turbos.
  6. Excellent. Will free up more opportunities for those of us that want the car for its performance and enjoyability, not for the wank factor.
  7. Call me uneducated, but wouldn't this also be illegal if it wasn't certified?? Seems about as legit as an uncerted M30 in an E30.... "the WoF inspectors will never know the difference"..........
  8. All it needs is a rotissere and a temp probe inserted through the hard cover and Voila! Self propelled spit-roast machine! In all seriousness though, thats rather cool!
  9. These http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/alloy-wheels/auction-673278747.htm Yes I realise they're 19s but oh my.........!
  10. Dear Australia. Happy f**king Christmas. Love, GM Head Office. Cocks. Worst kept secret, but still that really is shite Yet another step towards new rear drive cars becoming the playthings of the 1% Will serve to further undermine the strength of the unions, wonder if it will have a ripple effect here
  11. Did you get these pulleys for your S50? Might be on to something here
  12. Trying to send you a PM but I keep being denied
  13. Much appreciated! Pm me for email address, need to start putting the research in
  14. New job, new start. I agree wholeheartedly with Grahams comment about substitution not working, I've been munching on the gums & patches for three years now and I've only just admitted to myself that they're a have. Started at fourteen, just turned thirtyfour and over it. An 8 month old son that I utterly adore and would do anything for is reason enough to die an old man, not a smoker. 3 fags left in the box Pray for me!!
  15. Would make a lovely daily though!! Thanks for the pics Brent, handy info!
  16. Just to confirm, the pulleys are to suit E46 M54 engines? Wonder if the difference is in the V-ribs on the pulley itself Tempting to grab them and find out if they'll work on an old donk like mine
  17. So what would be the difference between the M54 and M50 pulleys then? 'Scuse the n00b question
  18. I've been thinking about running dual pumps to get around the same problem. No idea if it's actually doable though. Have spoken in depth with the brother in law (also a toolmaker. handy!!) and he seems to think splitting the pump in half with a connecting shaft running from front to rear will work too. Again, whether this is achievable with the standard pump remains to be seen. However, worth looking into! Hell, if Alpina came up with a solution I'm positive kiwi ingenuity will achieve similar results
  19. Yes, all just rebadged Daewoo, Isuzu etc. Certainly a shame about the Commodore though. I started losing interest in the standard models (outside of HSV) from the VE platform. Great looking car outside, but pretty tacky in. The new one resembles a Camry with an aftermarket bodykit. Being one of the last mainstream manufacturers still using the front engine/rear drive platform it's a real blow to motoring enthusiasts. I'm sure I won't be the only one sad about this latest, although not unexpected, development. Will leave the Au govt in a real spot when 50,000 extra bodies start lining up for the dole
  20. Have seen both style 22 & 24 on E46s before and to be honest they looked pretty average IMO. Those Alpinas on the other hand look better on the newer body. Bet they'll be a major PITA to clean but! The E46 CSL wheels are the frickin business! Good luck finding replicas though Bang for your buck I'd say go for the E46 motorsport (style 68 i think?), reasonably easy to get here plus decently priced with the assurance of OEM quality All just my opinion though
  21. Id guess around 200-ish hp from that lump. Maybe 230 on a good day. Certainly not enough oomph to justify a 6k asking. But it probably would do good skids, and there would be no guilt suffered when the motor blew. And a high-12s pass in a late 60' yank ute with NoS on street tyres is f**king quick! 'Specially when you consider just how loose the arse end was

    M54

How much would one expect to pay for an M54B30 with a fecked head? Or where to find an M54B30 with a fecked head? Quite like the idea of an M50 stroker but as wifey has laid down baby related budget restrictions the idea may not get off the ground. Any leads welcomed. Ta muchly
