You'll have a much higher chance of finding an M3 with 3 pedals than a 330i, if what I've seen come up for sale is anything to go by. Plus in the long run, were I in your position, I'd regret not getting the M3. Forgive the assumptions, but I presume a gentleman in his 50s is probably free from child rearing obligations and is either freehold on his home or very close to it. Not saying that the 330i is a poor car, but it just doesn't compare And you'll never fall off an E46 either

Have already thoroughly researched the M50B30 stroker (essentially the USS50B30) and decided against it on the basis that it seemed a great deal of unnecessary work for the same results as using M50B25NV cams & intake (with remapped DME) on an otherwise perfectly good M54B30. My point of interest is whether there is a difference in engine tune between US and Euro specced M50s. I have heard anecdotal evidence suggesting the Shark software is pointless on a Euro spec M50, due to less stringent emissions standards; hence my comment that further research would be required! In this instance I would have anticipated that best results would be gained by using the US cams with a dyno based DME remap. However I would love to see someone use these cams with the Shark software and observe the results. Apologies if my logic appears convoluted, but it makes sense to me

Hang on, a coupe? Do yourself a favour & just buy one instead. By all means, make it manual. But I'm not following the logic here? M50 ti = sweet, M50 coupe = yawn. You've got something different there dude, why tear it apart now???? No offence to coupe owners btw!

I did the same thing today, will figure out if it has two pipes that run the full length of the muffler or if it runs a splitter just before the tips. If it's option 'a' then I'll cut the back off and rearrange it to accommodate twin entry. otherwise it'll have to be a merge pipe right before the backbox. Either way, looking forward to getting my grubby little mitts on it!

New Zealand New BMW E36 M3 Evo Sedans

One of the members here has one. can't quite recall if it's an Evo though. Either way, WANT! -
And what area are you in?

If you've done everything right and take it to a VTNZ or similar there's every chance you'll never need a cert. Plainly put most inspectors have no idea what they're looking at. But by definition your car will need a cert as the E36 ti was never sold in NZ with the M5x engine. Same thing for me if I was to straight swap an M54 into my E36 sedan. Never had it from factory, must have cert. A lot of the E30 guys get away with it cause they bull$hit the inspectors and tell them the M50 was released in the E30 chassis. It does rely on getting an inspector that knows next to nothing about Bimmers, but it happens often Edit: Since you've gone through all the hard work you should really play by the book. Would be horrible if you had a prang and then found yourself in a whole world of pain with your insurance because the car wasn't technically legal!

I'm all curious now, will have to delve deeper into this one! Am quite interested to see what the shark software would do for a Euro spec engine, my understanding was the americans got a different tune to ROW courtesy of crippling emissions standards. Again, more research required!! Unless those with the dark knowledge would like to chime in and save me wasting another 40 hours of my life?

Aren't these cams nearly identical in spec to the M50B25NV intake & M54B30 intake cams? Or have I got my wires crossed here?

Hmmm, one of the guys on my shift has been using his E39 528i as his daily for three years now. Weekly wash & wax is keeping it looking pretty good. Seems its the ones that park right outside the plants (bosses) that get it the worst (haha!) Just stay away from the local carwash unless you like the 'scoured' look

Tempted to do this on mine. Eibach springs are just a tad too low, getting peeved with scraping the standard bumper all the time where did you source the spacers from?

Getting the same thing on my old 36. Never occurred to me to check out the high stop! Thanks for the idea!

E46 warning lights + suspension item

+1. The ball joint has completely come away from its socket - if your guy is trying to tell you it's an easy fix you need a better wrench monkey am wondering if the next piece of advice will be to fill in the cracks on your CABs with sikaflex................. -
Can't help with wheels sorry, but your 2002 looks a proper gem! More pics please!

Yah, that's the one

There's a 525i up north with a slipping auto for under 2k on trademe as well. 535i manual touring would be freakin sweet man, go for it!

Win! At least yours hasn't been outed as a philanderer with a weakness for exploiting the perk system to supply upgraded rooms for illicit nookie on company time!

Crank, conrods and pistons from a M52B28TU available. With a couple of small machining jobs will be perfect for an M20 2.8 stroker build. $150 ono, or will become the column for my letterbox if unwanted Photo indicative only, assembly still in block for safekeeping

The early allroads were turds wrapped in tin. Would be far better off with a 6 cylinder crosstrak Dunnydoor. Big 6 pot, frequently 7 seater specced & AWD. Not cheap to run but probably more cost effective in reduced repair costs.

My understanding is as long as the belts, seats & mounting points are OEM it shouldn't require a cert. I would assume thats based on new items, not secondhand. The LVVTA website should cast more light on the situation, or local WoF inspector. Come to think of it, does Glenn do Wofs? Your mate might get prices through Audi and come up with a new idea, methinks!
