Paint is getting dear but $250 per panel is a bit much I would be looking for $190-200 per panel if you can.
-
Sweet guys thanks I'll take it to my local and they can look after it for 4-6 months keeping it charged etc.
-
What do you mean by absolute mess, I would hang onto it for a while slowly tidy it up, but more details mess? 10k miles?

Should I just take out the battery completely and keep on charger?. The leads were two joined together long story but ended up taking the battery out of the jumping car in the end coudn't get to the front of the BMW with the other car batteries on wrong side etc, real hassle all of this it is making a vanos sound now as well, cars hate sitting.
-
O.K. update this car has been sitting since February and been run only once done 13k in April or thereabouts. Today totally dead, tried to jump start under the bonnet, but that gave me just enough charge after 2 hours, to open the boot as the battery in the touring is in the boot and there is no other way to open the boot even with a key (great idea) not.. so leads straight onto battery running jumper car for 15 minutes finally started her, no airbag lights totally fine even remebered the time. I have now just disconnected the negative terminal and left boot ajar so I can get at it, and this is what I reccomend if you are storing an E39 disconnect the negative as this just drains your battery into the earth. I would guess it would apply to E38 and 36 etc as well.

should sticky this thread lots of good info, on a superbly built car you pay the same as an older model corolla now.
-
What are the details of your car Rustee? just trying to guage the accuracy of the value they gave you.

I have the XR6 ute, and these are real agricultural, any old garage can fix them, motors are $700 to replace if ever required, they can be good on gas if you drive them with fuel saving in mind, tow good, haven't checked but 2.0t easy I carry 1.5t in the tray, hold their money resonably well, go hard when you need them, want to know more let me know hitting 50k in my one. They chew their rear tyres keep 38psi in them, and can chew out abs and rotors but all cheap to fix.

smoke screen feature to get away from the cops man...

Did you jump out and see where the steam was coming from, could be a hair line crack in the top/side tank, could be from anywhere, does it still hold any of it's coolant?

Thats the way I go Paul vinegar hill, if I was heading straight into Palmy though, I live in the pohangina valley, I would go straight ahead and through Hunterville you can stop at Mike j Trading link below and check out his selection of relics he has there always a good site seeing tour if you are into old cars. www.mikejtrading.co.nz edit to see if it hyperlinks doesn't seem to.

lovelly in white what k's and year etc?
-
Road re-sealing season has largely ended they usually do them between late Dec and Easter, as the rain causes havoc on new seal, I would go straight down the guts through Hamilton, Taupo, Waioru etc, that Naki way will add 2 hours but scenic through awakino etc. The Mangaweka's is finished no dog leg further south over the railway lines, by (by the plain) north of Taihape, I travel that road every month.

The E39 does 9.9l to the 100, glad i decided to cruise the diesel now didn't anticipate huge petrol increase. My XR6 does 550k to 75 litres so not always BMW.
-
keep bleeding it it took me 4 hours to bleed my one, it's bleed once water only runs out the bleed screw any bubles or hissing still air in there.
-
I was also going to ask if you have done any coolant system maintenance to back up my claims, new coolant or a big top up can add air into the system.
-
I reackon it will be air in the system, youre op said you could hear the fan clutch engaging like it should and the temperature guage suddenly shooting to the red means, thats the air pocket passing the sensor, more throttle pushes the water pump harder, pockets passes the sensor, they are a mere to bleed the E39's are anyway.
-
I reackon when I was 14 I was still doing sleevovers camping in a tent on a friends back lawn eating potatoe chips and chocolate. My 15 year old niece is on the funnells every weekend now different world.

We have still got one of these my partner won this in a colouring in competition in 87 or thereabouts made by fisher and paykel as a prototype, never sold commercially, he brings drinks to you and has a tape deck that you can pre-record messages etc, he's real cool even have the box still.
