E46 & E36 suspension & transmission problems
Grant replied to tonylauno1's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
It is true, I'm not sure what other models use the GM transmission, but the 318ti that my parents have has a GM Transmission in (it is one of the older E36 4speed auto's...'95 from memory). Cheers Grant -
We are following this pretty closely (for obvious reasons). Quite the interesting result I thought. Will be an interesting race, lets see what New Hampshire holds (where it is 96% white). If Obama wins there, then I'd say its all over for Hillary. Cheers Grant

Amazing, i'm blown away. Nice work guys. Cheers Grant

Lidistick has a good idea there. When my grandfather was in the Lion's Cancer House at Waikato Hospital, I was amazed at the lack of decent reading material so donated about 2 years worth of NZ Rugby Magazines to them. I went from having 1 grandfather to having about 10 of them, in an instant. They were a great hit. Cheers Grant

It is the same as ever for me.

Great photos. Nice work. At least you saw the New Year in! I fell asleep at 11pm (I had been up since 5am though), next thing I knew it was 12.15am. I am old!! Cheers Grant

Very nice car, I've always liked the Dakar colour when on an M3. The ACS front windscreen banner is not my thing, but thats purely just me. Cheers Grant

Hi and welcome Sounds to me as though the fan clutch (viscous coupling) has gone, especially if the problem is while idling (or at the lights). Does the car cool a bit while in motion (i.e. not needing the fan to cool it?). These have failed on both my E36's and I have had them both replaced. From Waterview, the closest place is probably the BM Workshop (www.bmworkshop.co.nz). However I'm not sure of their opening hours over the holidays (if at all). Good luck Cheers Grant

Sorry, completely misread your question.... Edited to remove my answer Cheers Grant

No, I was at en event with the PM a few weeks ago, and she turned up in a Chrysler 300C. I was of the understanding that they had chosen the Chrysler - maybe the deal fell through at the last moment.Cheers Grant

I got the perfect size U bolts from Mitre 10, four of them for less than $10 (and the thread size is exactly the same so can even re-use the original thumb nuts. Cheers Grant

Hi All I have OEM BMW roofracks for my E36 that I use from time to time. I just purchased a 2nd hand large roofbox that I will use from time to time. However the brackets that attach the roofbox are too short. I have attached a picture of one of the 4 brackets. These loop under the roof racks and then screw to the inside of the roof box. The brackets are 7cm wide by 5cm high. However, to fit under the BMW roof racks and then have enough thread to attach the screw nut I need the brackets to be 7cm's high as well. Can someone recommend, in Auckland (preferably not on the shore, or south of Manukau, where I can either get new brackets made to the right size, or buy some that are the right size. I assume that I can likely get some kind of off the shelf bracket, or U shaped bolt that will work. Cheers Grant

Happy birthday Sam. Hope you have a bloody good one, and stay out of (some) trouble. But after all, you are Rick James, Bitch!! so behave accordingly.

Why not - it certainly won't hurt, however I am getting sick of cars being deliberately posted in the hope of getting it ridiculed. If it is a genuine car that people think other BSers will be genuinly interested in, then to me this is a good idea. Cheers Grant

Just back from Starship....what a mission. Ash has a small hole in his heart, but not worth worrying about, it should close up of its own accord over time. So we are all pretty relieved around here. Time for a beer, I have a Hop Rocker with my name on it already capped. Cheers Grant

Cheers guys - you know you are getting old when you can't remember how old you are turning on your birthday...I told someone that I was turning 33!! I will either be celebrating tonight or in a state of mild panic depending on the results of the cadiac specialist we are seeing this afternoon for Ash (our 10 month old son). Therefore my birthday this year has taken rather a back seat. None the less I'm sure I will fit a couple of beers later on. Cheers Grant

Like Mike, i'd take a 4 door M3 over a 2 door as well, but more because I really need the 4 doors. Cheers Grant

Welcome Sam, I grew up in Cambridge, and lived there until 2003. In fact was back there 3 weekends ago, and we will settle back there once we have done our stint in the USA. Great looking car by the way. Cheers Grant

I'd stay away, that guy is dodgy!! Nahhh...seriously, Ray is a very well respected guy (a sponsor of this forum as well) and this car looks to be brilliant. Welcome, Cheers Grant

Hi All It seems that Frontier's site is having all sorts of problems. To help my fellow BS's out, the ticketmaster password is "silence" for pre-sales. Good luck. I got 4 tickets with really good seats very easily (I'm an old bastard, so much prefer allocated seating). Cheers Grant

Nice car - good luck with the sale.

That would mean drinking Tui - a fate I wouldn't want to bestow on anyone. Cheers Grant
