I looked this up as well on carfax. All of my previous cars (with the exception of the Jeep Wrangler and Saab - which are atill actice) have been written off, or had their rego lapse since I owned them. Cheers Grant

That is crazy, and unfair to you guys, you deserve a lot better!!

Junior doctors have my full support. They are massively underpaid. $23 an hour is just nuts when weighed up against the responsibility they have. I agree with Cain. The Starship doctors are brilliant. Cheers Grant

I agree, posting trade me links (unless it is your own car) is pretty pointless, as I'm sure we all look at trade me regularly anyway.Cheers Grant

Nick - I meant to say earlier, thanks heaps. Sharepod worked perfectly (well almost...I had to do the playlists one by one - but close enough). I now have all of my music properly recorded into iTunes, and everything seems good again. Sharepod is a NZ made bit of software too!! It is also simple enough that even I was able to follow the instructions and get it to work easily and quickly. Cheers Grant

Interesting, I looked up the first car I ever owned (a long time ago...). The car yard I traded it to, immediately wound the speedo back 100,000km's (It was in very good condition when I traded it). I guess they thought they could get away with it - and obviously did. Also interesting, my old E30 (that was written off) had two odometer decreased in the time I owned it (I can assure you that never happened). I guess that at times the wrong reading is recorded, and hence the decrease. In both cases, the correct reading seemed to be recorded at the next WOF. I am trying to remember the plate of another car I previously owned, that I bought off a yard in Hamilton, that the next week got done big time for winding back the clocks of their cars. I was pretty sure that the car I bought had suffered this treatment as well. All very interesting. Cheers Grant

I must admit that OSCAR/Roland, to me anyway, you seem like a pretty uptight guy. You are probably a hell of a good guy (I don't know you from a bar of soap) but you are coming across on here like you have a bug up your ass. (I guess you will get all fired up about this as well - but hey, I have think skin). Just calm down, and stop getting all fired up over everything that can be possibly misconstrued as a negative comment about an E30 M3. Remember this is a quasi-public forum (albeit administrated), and you will often get/read posts that you don't personally agree with. Surely your vast experience with s14.net will have taught you this. People will have their own opinions, right or wrong, on the value of things, and they are fully entitled to them. In fact in this case it wasn't an opinion, it was a mere and legitimate question about the current value of E30 M3's. Cheers Grant

I agree. Also, most of this would be avoided if people stopped posting trade me links (that aren't their own). I'm sure most of us look at trade me regularly enough, and don't need informing of new special listings. Cheers Grant

I tried to buy a report, the site must still be being finished. Cheers Grant

FFS - let it go, you all sound like three year olds. Cheers Grant

Yuen - you are a very wise man, I couldn't agree more with you. As usual you have hit the nail on the head. The M3 cab looks to be a very beautiful car. Cheers Grant

Ouch - that does not look at all enjoyable. It'd not Max Mosely after one of his romps is it? Cheers Grant

Hi All I have an issue with my ipod. It is the 60gb video ipod (I have had it for a couple of years now). It has been awesome until recently. In Feb, I managed to fry the HDD in my laptop. This was not a big deal as I am pretty anal about backing it up. So I essentially lost no data (or music) etc. I had a new HDD put in and the laptop rebuilt, but when I plugged my ipod in (and iTiunes started) it wanted to erase it and reinstall all of the music from my hard drive onto it. There is a bloody good reason why I don't want to do this. I spent many many hours setting up all of the music (rating it) and had set up a huge number of playlists (my ipod gets used in my car a lot as I travel between Auckland and the Tron a couple of times a week). I have downloaded a couple of pieces of software that allows me to transfer all of the music from my ipod to my laptop, however It doesn't seem to bring the playlists, song ratings etc with it. What can I do to get my ipod setup back into iTunes exactly how it was? I don't really want to start again as there is some 7,000ish songs that I would have to rate and get back into playlists. Cheers Grant

Definately worth posting the articles. Keep up the good work. Cheers Grant

I'm not sure if everyone has seen this before, and I am a bit slow on the uptake, but if not visit www.tuckermax.com and read his stories. Not very PC, and he sounds like he really is an a**hole, but sh*t they are funny. I was very nearly in tears with laughter. He seems to be succeeding at his aim in life. Cheers Grant

Whilst slightly off topic here, what I would like to see is more "pay" roads. In Auckland i'd quite happily pay to use a road that has a lot less traffic than the current situation. I, do however, feel that there still needs to be alternative roads available free of charge. I spent a bit of time in Sydney two years ago, and the toll roads seemed to work well there (I was always a passenger, and never drove them myself - but they seemed to work, and traffic was always very free flowing on them). I'm not too sure of a congestion tax though. I guess it depends on the quality of public/alternative transport. If these are good, and accessing the central city (I'm thinking Auckland as much as Wellington here) is easy by alternative means then a congestion tax is a good idea. If there are very few viable options to get into the CBD, then I'm not in favour of it. Cheers Grant

Awesome - thanks for the update Ollie

I have no issues with the car, and the fact that it is not the original chassis. If Guido (BM Workshop) did the transfer over of the M5 componentry into the 520i chassis, it will be as good as the original. If I was more that mildy tempted, I would have bought this the first time around (I did "um" and "ahh" a bit). Cheers Grant

Nice work - thanks very much Ollie for your taking over of this, and seeing it through. Cheers Grant

Very cool Glenn...you really are a talented bugger aren't you. My current wet day activities consist of building towers out of kids blocks (just to have them knocked down within 30 seconds), playing fire engines, having crawling races, watching Playhouse Disney and changing nappies. Cheers Grant

Ollie, do you have any confirmation from germanplates.com that the order has been placed. I see on their site that shipping will take 1 - 3 weeks, and it has been over three weeks since these were meant to have been ordered? I am just a litte bit worried that, I may have made a donation rather than a purchase. Cheers Grant

Yuen is exactly right, and has hit the nail on the head.

I had this with my 328i. Take it to a dealer or decent independent, such as Botany Motor Worx (with a scanner). The issue with my 328i ended up being a faulty cam position sensor - this was picked up by the scanner. Cheers Grant
