Have the e39 manual in pdf if you want i can email it to you?
-
That sucks, didn't feel the need to lay the smackdown? I'd have trouble restraining myself.
-
nice! what rims are those? they suit it well. Staggered?
-
Yeah it was an option, it's in the e39 manual. Think they only let you know when they are low.. Same question asked here.. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=339663

Was a lower speed than the control arm bush shimmy.. Was still nice though, just needs a good inspection beforehand

This needs a good checking over.. CEL light was on, but they were getting that cleared apparently, were more than happy to take it to bmworkshop or botany motor worx however, not sure if they were keen to pay for things if something came up though.. Was gonna swap my 540 for it, but there is a bit of a shake coming from the steering, could be unbalanced rims however.. also if you put the gas pedal down quick its a bit delayed and has that hollow rattle sound. Also its ex Jap, no indication of cooling system being done and has the crappy infra-red jap key. Immaculate inside and out though. Couldnt justify parting with the v8, the easy power is too addictive to give up. Despite my 13.8/L/100km consumption.

Mine isn't oem mustve been replaced already hence why I didn't guess flat battery, looks to be only a few years old.. Best place to buy oem batteries?
-
Hey what do you know it starts, def the battery.. Will give it a good run in the morning.

Hmm maybe, I will check all the fuses when I get home, boot was left open a little but I thought it went to sleep? To save battery? All lights still function and headlights are ok, I turned everything off while trying to start. Any clue what that water was doing in there? Thinking it mightve been sitting on the plastic cover nearer to the firewall. Also Brent do you have any front wheel liners? I just need 2 of the smaller panels for each wheel, the ones that go closest to the fog lighst with the 3 screws in them which hold it in place.

Just makes a loud tick from the engine when turning key, auto start doesn't continue to turn it over. Will only continue to crank when holding the key in start position. All lights go out when it's staring.. Well trying to start. No CEL I assuming it's a fuse? I was messing about under the hood last night and this morning, I was following a cable which went inti the fuse box area under the passenger side microfilter, which when I opened it dropped about 2litres of water on the ground but was still starting ok after that. Also the fuses behind the glove compartment which where my cable was plugged into, and the area behind the steering wheel, a few wires were latched into the obd plug. Was going to do a firmware update on my laser jammer. Then today engine no worky. Any idea what I've done? Was on my way to work so haven't had a look at what it could be yet. Flat battery? Car is 00 540i with m62tub44

Definately check the front control arms for play which will give the infamous 80kmh shimmy.. and brake from 100k and see if there is any vibration whilst slowing, which could be the arms of warped rotors. Get a PPI from botany motor workz or bm workshop.. if you are in auckland Or if not some one might be able to recommend a place in your location. Headgasket Cooling system Play in the steering wheel while off Key barrels on both doors work Windows wipers dont wack the top of window They are good cars, had one previously which i racked up a fair few kms on. Post the link

90% of dealer cars will be straight off the boat via japan and will have been given a wof and speedo cert and that's probably about it, dealers work on commission so are really only after a sale. The more it costs to get fixed the less commission they make, so I doubt they'll be much help.. And bmw's aren't cheap to fix, especially with that list of sh*t wrong you have. You should look at marac, a friend at work went through one of their brokers, eurofinance in chch, they had no problem buying private. Try them. Or if you really have to buy that one make the yard pay for a mechanical warranty.

Any e39 540 owners running x5 thrust arm bushes?
shaneg replied to BreakMyWindow's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
I have them installed in mine from the P.O I've got another 20,000km to go before they will need replacing. One thing while I was researching before I bought it was this comment from the m5 boards.. So you might want to check that out when you change them, as I think they come set for x5 setup. I know the previous owner on mine said that they were on incorrectly when he checked. As this will reduce the amount of kms you'll get out of them. Also I'm sure i read somewhere ages ago that the car needs to be weighted before fully torqued, I.e full tank, and a certain weight to simulate 3-4 people in the car? That's from this thread M5 Board -
Thanks for that..

Good on you for not using it as a race car.. I think your target market is going to be very small, so dong be suprised if it tajes a while to sell/ find the right buyer. Thought about urging it in classic car mag? They have good cars in the classified section, prob someone who looms at those mags might be interested? Australian eBay might be another option.. Broader audience. First person I'd ve asking about the sale price would be Simon who just sold a 540i/6

Gutted! Heaps of sh*t getting stolen at the moment! I have a set of 17" m-sports the same that I'll be selling off from my new e39 with near new rears when I find a replacement..
-
The first ones are just m3 reps yeah? Should be plenty of them, just google them with the colour of your e46. Also mag and tyre have pics of some cars with them fitted if you go to his website..

Must be a crime spree going on. Flatmates car window was smashed and they took..... A shirt!? Was a dirty shirt too.. Although the people around the corner got robbed at 630pm the other night whilst they where out, they stole the guys tools.

That's like basing Toyota/Lexus bulid quality on the the Echo, which I'm sure is equal in quality to the Getz.. Geely is available in NZ, the company that dustributes Hyundai and Isuzu utes sell them, although id give it a few years yet before buying a Geely. Chinese people love them. Hyundais are really good cars, especially the elite models, they do have a bit of a stigma, but after driving almost all of their brand new cars and their van I'd have no problem in having either an i30, i45, ix35 or Santa Fe, when the Genisis makes it here, I think it'll sell quite well, even the V8 engined one which made an appearance in the movie Inception.. Ex pat NZer Rhys Millen uses the Genesis coupe for his drift car. Currently they can't keep up demand for the i45 as they are selling like crazy. Think the Santa Fe just got judged best mid sized suv by nz4wd.
