  1. Same here. I drive a VW Polo BlueMotion diesel (1.4 turbo) as a courier car, if I have a choice, I will pick this car again. So much torque at low/mid rev, it feels like a 2 litre car from a 1.4 diesel engine. I can go up Bombay Hills sitting at 2000rpm in 5th!! When I had my car serviced the other day, they gave me a petrol Polo of the same year but in auto (mine's manual), didn't like it. Diesel wins hands down compare to a same capacity petrol.
  2. Western Digital is your friend. or RAID
  3. Are you sure it's M50B30? I did hear of S50B30US cam swap (US spec M3 cam). http://www.dtmpower.net/forum/australia/15...2us-debate.html
  4. I am not convinced that iPad is a evolutionary device. In fact it's just a FAT iPhone without the phone as someone already pointed out. I guess if one is truly using it as a ebook reader, multitasking don't matter but I have serious question on it's battery life given the type of screen is in use. If one is expecting it to be a tablet netboo, I am sure that person will be disappointed.
  5. I am not in a position to buy one but with everything that comes with the car (parts, service history, mods, etc..) , I would happily pay $100k for the lot.

    Describe your PC

Processor: Intel E6700 dual core @ 2.66GHz stock speed RAM: 2GB dual channel OS: Win 7 Ultimate Graphic Card: ATi X1650 HD : 3 x 500GB Western Digital in RAID 0 + RAID 5 matrix RAID into 2 logical drive monitor: 19" Dell 750W thermaltake PSU It's due for upgrade in storage, considering a SSD alone for boot drive + 1.5TB WD Black x2 in RAID 1 in place of the matrix RAID.
  7. I bet he was trying to tamper you terminal with one of those card capturing device. Similar to the ATM scam some monhs ago. Good on you for picking this up.
  8. Maybe Glenn can answer this, BMW gearboxes generally maintenance free from servicing point of view, if they break, would the insurance still look after them? What about SMG box on my 330? Does it count as manual or auto? (I wouldn't dream of explaining SMG to the insurance people)

    iPhones?

VF dealers has a habit of bagging the new XT network.5800 has it's own problems too. I have switched from Voda to Telecom with iPhone 3Gs, in day to day usage, XT is better than Voda in service quality (voice quality and data speed). About the phone, I had the W701 before which is a scaled down model of the 995. Compare the Sony Ericsson to my iPhone, finding The iPhone indispensable. I get email done, keep up with news and all. Finding a right app can be a bit of hit and miss just because there are so many out there. I didn't expect much from the camera and I have a decent camera anyway. But it's better than many other cellphone camera. The great screen certainly helps. Sync with PC is straight forward, sync with Mac is even easier. Decent bettery life (2-3 days for me).
  12. My e46 ti was a lap belt but the e46 ci was a 3 point belt. Maybe model dependent?
  13. That's awesome. Wish I was there. I must enroll for next year.
  14. Sorry to be off topic but how was the run? I was going to enroll to go few months back but I then forgot about it. Any trouble with the cops? How was the turn out? Any pix? Edit: typo
  15. That only works if you got 1 or 2 pcs of each product. Otherwise, custom can get suspicious and might nail you a fine.
  16. Don't they replace with new seals when they put new screen on?
  17. If they do replace the screen, they would give you the banded one if you had it before. Last time I had a screen replaced, I've managed to have the insurance pay for a genuine BMW screen fitted at Jerry Clayton service. Worth a chat to the insurance company if you are a bit nervous about S&S.
  18. I've seen it in the flesh a few times. Much worse in real life, that fake M3 side grill. *CRINGE*
  19. Retail prices are similar in Oz and NZ last time I went to oz (Nov 08). I would imagine things are similar still. If you buy in Oz, you can claim GST back at airport (would takes around 10-15 minutes, located past immigration but before you board the planes in OZ airports) DFS price are not the sharpest but if they have the model that you after at a good price then go for it. Warranty for DFS is done through DFS themselves. If you buy local (e.g. Camera Warehouse, Bond n Bond, etc..) then warranty is done thru local agent (Canon, Panasonic, etc..) If you previously had Sony, you'll find easier to use another Sony as all layout, buttons, menu are similar. If you switch brand, you'll have to get used to everything again. Accessories might not fit this new purchase, especially a old W-series (which I also had), that use a standard size MemoryStick as oppose to the current generation Sony that use the smalled Duo cards. I don't see much point of having memory card bigger than 2GB (which store over 1000 pix), as one should transfer and backup regularly in case the camera is lost/stolen/damaged. Also, you don't need 12+ megapixel unless you print anything A2 (4x A4 equiv.) or bigger.
  20. If it's a socket, SuperCheap is cheaper than Repco. Having recently bought one for my VW.
  21. That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.
  22. I bought some from Repco before, but I guess electrical supply places (e.g. JA Russell, Ideal, etc...) should have them as well.

    Camera lenses ?

Focal length will change by factor of 1.6x on the 400D/500D due to their sensor size compare to film. for example - a 24-70 lens will become a effectively 38-112mm when used on 400D/500D I always recommend any film upgrader to get the basic kit with 18-55 or body only + 17-85 IS lens so you have a "standard" lens. IMHO, the best all purpose lens for everyday use would be the 17-85 IS. Of course there is a 18-200 IS as well but more expensive ($3xx more) and heavier (20%)
  24. What's wrong with swapa-bottle?? (except for the little left over in the old bottle)
  25. That black van is actually not bad looking. Drop it a couple more inches should do it.
