Paint cleaner and Scratch X are very similar. S-X is a diminishing polish, where it reduce abrasiveness as you use it and eventually leave a protective layer on where you use it. Paint cleaner is more constant abrasiveness pretty much and doesn't protect where you use it after you remove it. As Andrew say, try a light to medium compound or swirl remover. In your case, don't use anything that has "glaze" in the product name. Glaze is mostly filler, which won't help you when you have oxidated paint. How big is the patch by the way, chance of a photo?

You can treat it like a normal car paint finish in many cases. i.e. Clay bar, polish then wax. This will clean off any tarnish, break dust build-up, etc... after the wax, it will protect from break dust make them easier to come off when washing. For the wax part, go for synthetic (Meguiars NXT and the likes) as carnuba will break down quickly by the heat

Nicely done, but personlly, it's just not natural to have so much electronics in such classic car.

Not quite a steering wheel for games person. I prefer the Microsoft XBox 360 controller for Windows. $60-ish from major game stores or Dick Smith. Must admit, one of the best driving sim on PC for a while, probably ever so far.

Is it a silver one with a big spoiler at the back, Angel eye headlight with numerous holes on the bonnet? (er.. vents)

Unfortunately, I am not 100% on 325i vs 328i though... Since your profiles say you had a 323i and I had one, I can tell you 323i and 328i are different. 323i has a single mid-section, where the 328i has dual pipe mid-section.

I heard there's O2 simulators available that lies to the ECU on its "reading". Not sure if this is the same as CAT sensors that you are talking about.

I will happily take a e39 M5 anyday.

as topic... I just find that funny

That wasn't so bad, considering how much the integrated nav cost as an option when you buy a new car. Don't know how much the beemers' are, but I know Honda's integrated nav is an $5800 option on Accord Euro or the new Civic. But after the conversion, does that mean you could watch TV, do Nav as it meant to be as a NZ system?

I do recall something about press and hold a button then do something else to switch Jap to other frequencies. I'll see if I can find that again then keep you posted. I wouldn't bother with band expanders, it's just so un-BMW.

They look almost the same to me in the photos except the BBS has more shiny lips.

Not sure if there's a carbon filter for the aircon in e34, might wanna double check?
-
Excuse my ignorance, by rear section, does that also means the so called "Cat-back" exhaust? Did you keep the Cat?
-
Should be next to the driver side bonnet hinge, just below the windscreen glass.

More input on this one would be nice, I too have a 323i. I read in a few places that 323i is detuned on purpose to be more restrictive. (Hence the single mid-section as oppose to twin in 325i & 328i) I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but I thought I'll point that out anyway.

I know someone in my home town, he's done a M3 cam and jim conforti chip, air take and exhaust to his 94' 325i

Mass Air Flow sensor, it's just before the throttle body in the air flow path.

How do you know there's a leak there if you don't know where they are? Anyway, power steering reserivor is under the MAF sensor, so pump and hoses would be below that.

I use the Meguiar 2 step aloe vera which is quite good. It's a blue in step 1, white in step 2. Forget those ready-wipes, they are pretty much useless. Also, don't use Armour-all on leather.

St Marks Road on-ramp is just a straight line, that speaks a lot for driver's skills or stupidity, or simply drunk.
