  1. Are these that rare? There are two different ones driving around hastings of all places.

Only three NZ new 20V Turbo (RR's) in NZ, plus one white UK import.

Two of the NZ new RR's are currently on TM, the third one (black) lives in Hastings and is owned by a family friend.

  2. smaller market - yes I agree with

Higher buy price - yes I agree with

Higher spec - absolutely not! The UK have a far bigger and better option range!

The BMW experience being 2nd to none? Maybe at the moment, but this may well change given the attitude that seems to coming from some of the members on here that work for BMW. If they are displaying their disdain at UK imports, how many others at BMW will be doing the same thing?

Our tiny population is probably at the base of the population. We just do not have the buying power needed to compete globally. Someone told me that most distributors buy through Australia. Obviously they have a luxury car tax. Could this have something to do with the higher pricing?

I dont know if BMW NZ has anything to do with BMW OZ, but BMW NZ is owned by BMW Germany.

  3. If you want a CSL with lower mileage there are plenty about in the UK, this example was GBP20k, less than NZ$40k which was the point being made here about prices of CSLs.

Have a look and see what you can buy for NZ$70k at the current exchange rates... will make your mouth water.

So 40K NZ, plus 7K to get it here and on the road = 47K for a CSL done around 170,000kms. How many people do you think will put there hands up for that?

    A family member was offered a NZ new high km E60 M5 for less than 30K . . .

  4. rare with a towbar!

'99 missing the facelift goodies but probably still a solid car.

Saw it at HD as well. There were more M5's in the carpark than inside the track.

Yip, on Saturday there was 3 Avus Blue E39 M5's in the one at HD, this one, my Brothers and a facelift one.

We did speak to the owner of the above car, it sounded like he needed the money and it wanted to replace it with a manual E34 540 or the like.

  5. Ive been on the lookout for a E30 M3 for awhile now and there only seems to be those two red ones on trade me.

Has anyone imported an M3 from overseas such as the US ?

Can they be registered in NZ - as they are older then 20 years ?

Do they have to comply with the new emissions regulations ?

Would like to hear you advice.. Thanks !

Do you know your E30 M3 specs?

Basically 3 versons country wise, European, US and Japanese.

    The differences?

European: Dogleg gearbox, larger gas tank (second tank behind the rear of the back seat)

USA: Standard H pattern gearbox, side lights, no extra gas tank behind the seats

Japanese: Standard H pattern gearbox, large gas tank.

In saying that, a number of European spec cars have found there way into Japan so you can find euro spec cars in Japan. They other thing to watch is that so many Japanese E30 M3's have been tuned and tracked.
