Here you go bro: Dash mat Are you planning on bringing more of these over or was it a one off?

Does anyone know if you need wof-able tyres when you get an lvv cert? Someone told me that tyre condition isn't a cert issue, only wof, but I find this hard to believe. On the other hand I guess it could make sense because the cert checks that the setup you have is ok, and then wof makes sure everything isn't too worn (brakes, tyres etc). Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks for the offer Sam, but they need to be 16x7 at this stage. Any wheel whores want to rent out their stashed BBS' for a day or two?
-
Bump can anyone help me out? Will pay cash if beers not your thing
-
That's a good point actually, might give him a call. Just so we're clear - are you offering for me to borrow them (have Hans bring them up, and then back down a couple of days later)? Or are you suggesting that I buy them and have Hans bring them up and then I sell them on or what ever once I'm done with them?
-
Saw those, too bad you're in Wellington and I'm in Auckland!
-
Thought I'd post in here too, since I haven't had any response in the WTB section. Wanting to borrow a set of 16x7" e30 wheels, with tyres in the near future (probably next week), for a day or two. I'm able to provide you with some wheels to keep your car on the road, and I'll buy you some beers for the hassel. Let me know what you have

I'm after a set of four 16x7" wheels, must fit an e30, must have good (and appropriately sized) tyres. Please let me know what you have, looking to borrow them for a day or two in the near future. Happy to provide you some beers for your hassel, you'd be doing me a huge favour!

I'm after an analogue clock to replace the ugly digital clock in mine. Not sure what they're worth? Also after a good condition M42 Radiator for as cheap as possible.

Looks nice! I always hear about how troublesome the SMG gearboxes are, is this due to lack of servicing? So this one should be fine considering the service history? Or are they just unreliable in general? Edit: Just looking at their website they have a mechanical report which mentions oil leaks, problems with the engine oil condition and problems requiring attention with the transmission. I've asked to see what they have to say about it, but if they aren't a mistake then it seems a bit misleading to not mention them in the trademe ad!

Not bad looking wheels, but there's no way I'd spend that much money on them! Sell them off and buy a set of wheels that have already been refurbed when there's some for sale. Or are you in a rush?
-
They sure are good! But my only realy comparison is my old e30 with old bilstein + Jamex, so I'm sure lots of set ups would beat that.

Hey guys, My mum's finally put her prado up for sale and she wants a smaller car. It will be mainly for city driving, but needs to be nice for long trips too. 4WD would be good to get up the mountain when the roads aren't too nice but not sure if it's worth it with possible fuel economy sacrifices for the rest of the time? She's really been looking for a ~2002 model Corolla, but the nice ones seem to be around $9k with approx 100k on the clock. Having a quick look at Golfs around the same price range, there's several for $9-10k late MK4s with very low kms: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-511840628.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-511797252.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-511840634.htm Can anyone comment on maintenance costs of a golf vs corolla? Ideally she'd want to spend $8k ish I think, so the above links are just an example of what sort of km's these imports have. Is there any reason to stay away from these low km imports? With such low kms a service history isn't even that important so what else is bad about imports? Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated, she's leaning towards to corollas because of the whole "European cars are unreliable, toyotas are bulletproof", but I'd rather her get a golf because, well, I like them more

Oh yeah sweet, I'll keep an eye on it and if it goes for within my budget then I'll go for it, otherwise I'll go for something like a Probook. Yeah, it'd be my main computer. I don't currently have a suitable place to set up a desktop, and I don't have the funds for two computers! The Ultrabooks all seems really nice but just not really powerfull enough. If it was just as a second computer I would definately look into them.

Ok so I have been leaning towards an i7 HP Probook, but then this came up on trademe : Visit My Website Thoughts on this? I guess this guy built it himself, is it a bit of a risk to buy one that's been put together by someone else? Whilst the build quality of the body doesn't look too exciting and I'm sure the screen is probably nothing special, but it seems like great value for the specs and might just do until I can afford something flasher. Thoughts?

I'll take em! Will send you a text now to arrange pick up

You sure it's Diamond Schwarz Metallic?

Wouldn't say sorted 'til the money's in my account haha. Useful thread but that's more of list of some car related companies. What we need is some kind of "blacklist" thread I think is what andy_e39 meant. Doesn't even need to be just car related IMO.

I've been promised a refund by Izzy now after I raised the issues with the finish, looking forward to getting it and having this over with. I can't believe they're putting themselves through another round of vouchers! If the business couldn't handle that volume of work the first time 'round then why do it again? I agree, that'd be a useful sticky to have.

My mum's prado is up for sale. After $15k ono Such a practical car, I've done heaps of road trips in it. Always gets the top carpark on the mountain when other cars aren't allowed because of its 4wd capabilities. Please see trademe link: Visit My Website Open to offers

So I got my bumper and lip back on saturday! Finally after 8 and a half weeks wait. When I got there he said the bumper turned out good, but there's a spot on the lip that they couldn't get right. Recons they re-did it 4 times and still there's a line there. I wasn't too stoked with that but I decided that I just wanted my bumper and lip back so I accepted it and took it home. Yesterday when I went to fit them back on my car, I realised the bumper actually isn't all good, theres big scuffs on the underside of it that have just been painted over! They weren't even there when I dropped the bumper off! There's also a few other imperfections, areas of rough matte paint etc, will post pics when I get around to it. I've tried calling his shop and his mobile to tell him that I'm not happy with the finish but there was no answer, so I've sent him an email explaining it. Just waiting on a reply now. I'm not happy at all with waiting so long for a less than perfect finish, I don't think I got my $599 value that the voucher was advertised as. But on the bright side, at least I've got my bumper back and my car's back on the road!

Link's broken. Yeah actually come to think of it, my current laptop was from there and they took forever to have it repaired! Thank's for clarifying that. I should mention that my budget is not strictly limited to $1000, I am willing to spend more for a good machine, but no more than say $1500 for now. I would prefer something around $1000. So having said that, does that mean the link I posted in my original post is not a good choice? That was roughly of the same spec you just said. Is an SSD going to give me real performance increases? Or is it just going to be faster to start up the computer, load saved files and save new files?
-
Thanks for all the responses! Josh - would you recommend getting just an SSD over a smaller SSD alongside a HDD? I read somewhere that SSD drives can only be re-written a finite number of times, so if you're constantly rewriting information on them after some time they become read only. Can't remember where I read it, maybe someone can confirm? Can someone please explain what's better about an i7 processor over an i5? My current/ex laptop is Asus. I was never too stoked with it, but it has lasted me over 4 years now, with one warrenty repair along the way. Clinton - Yep got a PBtech close by, will drop in and see what they can do for me I think. What kind size ram should I be looking at? Is it going to be worth getting more than 8gb? I do a lot of multi tasking on my computer and I like to leave things open to come back to while I work on other things.
