  1. I don't think they've planned that far ahead. I tried to get info, tried to become involved, learn something about it, but all I got was a very closed advisory that planning is for 2025.
  2. Already planned. As is a hydrogen facility in Hastings. However, in the usual bureaucratic way, they 'plan to start' that in 2025. Bit fuggin' late, in my opinion.
  3. The heavier the vehicle, the better suited to hydrogen it seems to be. Aircraft, ships, ferries... All have seen remarkable steps taken towards a hydrogen-powered future.
  4. There should be a hydrogen fuel-cell X5 this year. My interest in hydrogen as a fuel for vehicles goes back more than 40 years to when I read about an American who was running his car, his ride-on mower, and even the 'furnace' in his house on hydrogen.
  5. Hence the investigation into storage systems. Cloth bags and aluminium foil were never really suitable!
  6. Collaboration between Hexagon Purus, BMW, Bosch and TesTneT aims to explore hydrogen storage system solutions that can be integrated into future fuel cell passenger vehicles. The project, FlatHyStor, defines its objective as creating a functional design and testing of an innovative hydrogen tank system. If successful it could boost the hydrogen mobility market and help create more efficient hydrogen passenger vehicles. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is contributing €6m o help fund development. The consortium will be led by BMW who will coordinate different activities and provide technical specifications for the storage system integration and application. Hexagon Purus will utilise high-pressure hydrogen cylinders and vehicle integration structure with Bosch to develop advanced tank valves and high-pressure regulator technology.

    Quick rant thread.

So many places believe they are the last word in knowledge, and that none of the customers have an understanding of what they do. Obviously it pays well, though. McLaren, eh? Should narrow down who you went to see!

If you can get the correct colour? As far as I know, no current dealer actually does any paint or body work.

@Twistee - very much looking forward to hearing (and seeing) how you get on.
  11. Found this... https://drcolorchip.co.nz/ Absolutely no idea if it is any good!
  12. So much this. Low mileage is absolutley no guarantee of good condition, just that it's not been used.
  13. These are the considerations I've been mulling over with our Baur. It's not a manual, kms aren't especially low (but not silly high), and it's not NZ new. It *is* is good/very good condition, is a desirable colour, has a full list of options, and is rare. Pricing is a nightmare - many swings and roundabouts. Fortunately we're not in a hurry!
  14. That's very pretty. I like it! In the hot weather we've had lately, that'll be far more comfortable than leather.
  15. Have considerd a hybrid... 170km+ daily commute (85 each way), and site visits. How many kms do you get from a charge?
  16. The tyres could be different sizes, but mounted on the same width rim.
  17. I saw the title and thought "Why not?" Lovely car. I even like the looks, which I know some people don't. Rims look like E9x Style 230, but I thought they were 9x19 all round.
  18. At the moment, the possibility of a Lexus IS350 is being investigated... Biggest issue is going to be the amount of use it gets. Upwards of 50k kms per year.
