  1. I would have done this, but at the time we didn't know where the fault lied. If I cant get it going can you come to me?
  2. Thanks. Can you tell me which wires those are, and I will try that? Edit; I have the ews out, and there are no physical signs of damage to it. I have exposed the ignition wires - there are six larger gauge wires on the back of the barrel, and two very small ones that click via a mini connector onto the keyring surround.
  3. Thanks. Hopefully I don't have to change everything. If I do will I need to change the locks and ignition too?
  4. Thanks. I can get another ews from the wrecker to use as a test.
  5. Thanks Brent. I tried that but no luck. I will check the connections to the ews box. If either box or key are stuffed is my only choice to go to bmw?
  6. Car got towed home today. I swapped the battery with a known good one and it still wouldn't crank or even click. My friend scanned it for me and this is what we got. I think the fuel trim codes are existing. Any ideas?
  7. Okay, so car is being towed to my house. My mate has a really flash scanner and will scan for me. Will a scan pick up a failed crank or cam sensor? What else can I do to troubleshoot the problem?

    98 Fuel Pricing

I use Gull 98 and find it much cheaper. I tried switching to BP 98 for a few tanks and noticed no difference except a lighter wallet. This site lists the prices with real data. Just need to enter the captcha then select your region. Most expensive for 98 in Auckland is $2.47, and cheapest is $2.08, so quite a difference. http://www.pricewatch.co.nz/pricewatch.aspx
  10. So I went back to the parking building after dinner tonight and no luck. Voltage on the battery was 12.1volts which is not great but should be enough to at least turn the starter over. I put it in neutral and it rolled fine, so its not the starter jammed. Anyone know a good tow company that is not too expensive and will be gentle with the vehicle?
  11. I dont have one sadly.
  12. I will go to her work tommorrow and try a bunch of things. If nothing works I will have to get it towed home. Things I will try; # voltage test the battery. # swap batteries from my daily. # putting it in neutral and trying to push it (starter motor) What else can I try?
  13. So my wife rang me from work to say her e46 wont start. She was adamant she didn't leave any lights on to run the battery flat, but I thought that was probably the fault. I drove to her parking building, and sure enough radio, lights etc work but car wont even crank. I tried to jumpstart with my car but hers just wouldnt even crank. I scanned her car for codes and got the following; I dont know if the codes are relevant to the not cranking issue or not. We have never had this problem before - please help.
  14. More exports, better worker conditions, more jobs, higher wages, more money for the country, cheaper products - whats not to like?
  15. There is a huge amount of misinformation and scaremongering about the TPP. Its actually very, very good for all parties involved.
  16. Yes, this will be good news, and I'm sure will go ahead eventually?. There are other trade agreements in the works also.
  17. Yup, they did a similar thing to owners of solar panels.
  18. Nice work. Would it have been more thorough to take the diff cover off so you get all the old oil out?
  19. Good outcome, and I agree with @hotwire Who paid for the repair work?
  20. Of course. Its just surprising that the current government has broken more election promises in the first six months than the last one did in nine years.
  21. Governments breaking election promises on tax will do that.....
  22. Maybe its just the photos, but it looks like it could do with a little more neg camber at the front. It will make a good improvement to the handling.
  23. A little bit more camber on the front and you'll be away laughing.
  24. Before you do much else I would install a sump guard. And by running the tyres you have, the speedometer will need re-calibrating which is expensive, so maybe look at getting a wheel and tyre combination that has the correct diameter. Can you put up a pic of your car?
  25. To get any decent results the intake filter needs to be low down in the bumper. Its much cheaper to make your own, and likely get better results.
