N54 335i New Turbos/Compressor Housings
Herbmiester replied to smiddy's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
That will make it a seriously fast road car as you will have 600nm of torque at least. I imagine traction will be even more of a challenge. -
Zero to 60 is one of the better YouTube channels when it comes to BMW turbo cars. They test a lot of what they do and it certainly debunks how fast cars are on the road. They even have a bit of E39 stuff as well. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtEQM9eop5tRO-eWN6-AQwQ/featured

Ohh that's exciting 450hp here come. -
Oil leaks are not good for OCD people.
-
That will be a fantastic car to own when its finished.

I found this quite interesting as I do see an N52 being Mrs Herbmiesters next car but it seems maintenance and keeping the engine in good shape are not going to be substantially lower than my N54.

Seeking advice for the BMW 116i (2012-2013) (F20)

I am still looking, was keen on a Golf for a while but my local Euro mechanic says Mk5/6 Golf repairs are what keeps him in business. -

Yes that ZF 8 Speed box is a wonderful piece of engineering. I would choose it over a manual. As to the 116i the one I drove when looking for a car for Mrs Herbmiester underwhelmed me a bit. I drove a few bigger engined 1 series cars that day so I guess it highlighted the power or lack of it. Also it had a pretty plain cloth interior, just no wow factor, my Mother in laws Mazda 3 is nicer inside. The saving grace was the handling, even on average tires it felt nice on the trip home through Whitemans Valley; a road that is quite demanding at any speed over about 40kph. As to passing cars up the Rimutakas', well I think they would have to be pretty slow cars for that to happen. -

! series are nice cars but get one with a bigger engine. The 116i was a lower spec car and with such a small engine just boring. The 125i is a lot more fun. -
Oil pan filter and fluid are the main service points.
-
The ZF6 Speed Auto is a very good box. Service it every 50 to 70k and it will treat you well. Add an XHP tune and you will have a very fast shifting box.

I have used this tool for a few years now the flanged bushes are a problem but the non flaned versions are a piece of cake.
-
Thanks Ray was looking for a large case version.
-
Hi can you confirm small or large case bolted or welded?
-
Ah yes I thought it might be Hutt Valley. I had a licence 30 years ago, would be like you wanting to run a street car at a few events every year.
-
No not mine next to it. Sorry dont know Mike B. I really like VG's classic shape the EFI options sounds great let me know how that works out. I have been offered a rebuilt 265 and it will be a whole lot cheaper than the V8.
-
Looks like great fun what club runs those events?

In the back of my mind I keep thinking BARRA!
-
Modern Hemi makes more power and is a HEMI!
-
I have looked at the bolt in front ends, would need an A body version though. Went through a lot of this with my old Charger and after a lot of research decided this was the kit to go for. https://www.hemiperformance.com.au/shop/power-assist-rack-pinion-steering-conversion-kit-from-manual-steering-box.html

Beautifully presented car but 52k, Hmmmm........
-
Yes will likely have a Gen3 Hemi V8 and rack and pinion steering. 69 Camaro's are lovely looking cars, like the E Body Mopars one of the best looking muscle cars ever. I personally think the Charger is the best looking Aussie Muscle car but do have a soft Spot for XB Falcon Coupes and A9X Torana Hatch backs.

At this stage the Engine and trans will be 3rd Gen Hemi with a 5 speed auto, maybe a T56 but I see this as more of a cruiser. I have Garys book, great read. I will most likjely do a rack and pinion conversion and some for of big brake upgrade. Rear end is a Dana 60 so big HP will be no trouble. I has had some tin worm and it is in the process of having new sheet metal put into the floors. Comes with Grill, Dash, door cards etc.
