  1. YEs I did have to crank it but that was mainly because it had to be bled. I did that and it fired right up. Hyundai are actually Kipor from what I can work out. I think the muffler has collapsed internally.
  2. Open Framed. On further inspection I think the exhaust my be blocked internally.
  3. Definitely not wrong fuel. Insects seems very likely, perhaps even mice.
  4. My Hyundai diesel 5kw generator was started up today and the exhaust started emitting sparks then the whole exhaust box caught ion fire, what the hell causes this?
  5. Yes stage 1 will give you a nice increase, just be prepared for your charge pipe to pop, I have seen 4 instances out of 4 where a boost increase caused the charge pipe to crack or in one case disintegrate. N55s seem to be worse than N54s but that's not saying much as they are a known weakness. Really would recommend a new intercooler the stock one is tiny and on a hot day the intake temp can get pretty high. Both intercooler and CP are easy upgrades.
  6. Hopefully open by the end of the month.
  7. I had mine done afew years back but not convinced it was done properly. Make sure you get before and after shots.
  8. Brent I went with Stage 1 + for this I just did the mandatory intercooler upgrade. I did replacemy leaking charge pipe as well, again probably something you will want to do or have to do at some stage. I just bought a cheap ebay Dcan cable, but would look at the MHD wirelless option as well.
  9. I bought an R1150 GS, was keen on a classic Like an r80 etc but after I rode one I decided that while they are classics I wanted a bit more. I am riding Molesworth on the 1st of May, great road to ride.
  10. Looks in great condition, welcome to Bimmersport.
  11. So John what does it say you 335i is making?
  12. Upgraded to V9 for the N54 and I am liking it. I was on V7 which was a noticeable improvement over V6 but the most noticeable things so far are the smoothness and for whatever reason it seems more responsive. I was already running the linear throttle mapping which I am now completely sold on, but I also chose boost by gear. I have 10psi on 1st and 14psi on 2nd gear. I also went from a 95 to 98 map as my Mobil now has 98. Boost by gear certainly helps to get off the line and 2nd gear is noticeably more torquey but 3rd gear hits really hard and flashes the DTC light for a second or two. I may look to bring up the boost in 1st to say 12psi and see how it goes but otherwise very happy. I really need to find a dyno in Wellington as I am curious as to what it actually makes.
  13. Opened my oil catch can for the first time in about 8000ks and this is what was in it. I do have an upgraded PCV valve which the internet says is noticeably more efficient than the stock unit so I was surprised to see this much oil. I am glad this is not going into my intake and clogging up my ports.
  14. I find searching for old topics a real waste of time. I always get a message telling me wait 3 5 or 6 seconds. I wait but still get the same issue. I have given up.
  15. Haha just about to get out the battery charger and update to 9.
  16. sounds like the car is worth more in parts than as a roller. All points made so far have some validity especially that fact that even when finished it will be a 400,000km car, that will limit future sale ability and if its S54 swapped , which is very cool. it will limit who will want it as well. I think its a 5 to 8k car max.
  17. Here is a DIY of the intake valve clean that you need to do every so often in a N54.
  18. I had some correspondence with a guy in the US who used the inserts and he had them in for a couple of years and was happy. I have not read any negative reviews of them. plus they can be fitted at home.
  19. i think my N54 was around 400 but I supplied the gasket. My buddies M135i gasket is leaking as well.
  20. To me it seems well overpriced for what it offers. I had the pleasure of driving a 125i and a 330i just recently as part of the search for a new car for my wife. In isolation they were both very nice cars to drive and felt sprightly, certainly enough for my wife and the 125i was on Bilsteins and h&r springs so handled very nicely. I would have bought it it weren't for the no existent service history. Getting back into my 335i it made me realise that the power gap is pretty big, If I'm going sporty I want the power to back up the looks.
  21. 11.1 seconds from the factory. So quick.
  22. Is this the Ghost of Ron speaking?
