Have you checked with your local transmission specialist?

I have found buying dampers in NZ can be frustrating. I end up going to FCP or Demon Tweaks. Landed with GST they are usually about 20% cheaper. FWIW I quite like the ride quality on KW kits, realising that coil overs and certification isn't for everyone.

Thanks Dave, yes I ran the M3 arms on my 335i and did notice the difference. I had wondered about doing the bushing on the tension arm and just buying the longer lower arm. It depends on what the tension arm's ball joint is like I guess.

If you have a set of new, close to new or m3 front control arms I need a left and right set.

Wow, really impressed with what you have done here. Let us know how you go at the drags.

I think is was 7.5 x17 front and 8.5 x 17 rear.

This looks like a solid car. sadly I think we are in a slump for car sales at present. I bought my 130i, that looks very similar to yours, for 5k. It has 122k on the clock and is on KW coil-overs and is certified. Mine did have a small shudder in the trans, but a service got rid of it. Point is your car may be a 9k car but in this climate 7k might be where it sells.

I have a young fella up in Wellington who is keen. Any chance of driving it to Picton?

Yes good point.

So I have finally joined the 130i club, albeit with an auto. It has KW V3 suspension and certainly feels very nice in the corners even with cheap chines front tyres. The ride is quite forgiving and bump absorption is impressive. Its a bit low for my liking but of course being adjustable I might raise it a cm or two yet. It does have some weeping from the Vanos solenoids so I will sort that in due course. The car was cheap because I bought it with a slight shudder in the transmission. The seller was sure it has a ZF trans but I can only references to the GM 6L45 box on the internet. Its an August 2008 car with an N52k.Anyway I will look to get the trans serviced or do it myself when I can get access to a hoist. Is there a simple way to identify what transmission it has. Vin Checker and Real OEM weren't much use. Real OEM offered both transmissions as an option. Funnily my Daughter has already claimed it as her car, we will see about that.

How long had yours been shuddering for before you serviced it?

I saw this one, and my E60 love is starting to rekindle. Opinions? https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m5/listing/4224656827?fbclid=IwAR0vNrzqsDAeCYHwGvnDINHU9MNBujg_H4zuokhvyZ_cVsA6mkq-10W6Q6Y

It looks good for sure, but how much is a conversion worth compared to a factory original car? 1997 BMW 325i MSport coupe | Trade Me Motors

The M8R looks nice. I guess its a BBS replica so of course it looks good.

I bought an Aliexpress one for my 335i and it was a very tight fit. I then bought a VRSF one and it was perfect.

2007 BMW 550i | Trade Me Motors I am a bit tempted, seems to have had all the major engine work done. Might have a look this weekend.
-
Ray, your work almost makes me want to move to Auckland.

I am tempted, at 250k how much life is left in it, would be my thought. If its been well maintained lots more I would hope?

Wheel magician did my X5 wheels that were Diamond cut. He couldn't replicate the diamond cut exactly but got very close.
-
Just to let you know, Pramod did my X5 EGR delete, really happy with the result and he is a top man to deal with.

Less than $100 new on Amazon.

I need a suspension air bag for my 2012 E70. Anyone got a spare? Second hand is fine as long as there are no leaks.

I am looking at an Tidy LCI MS E90 with an n43 that has timing chain issues. Seller acknowledges the cost to repair will be high and has a timing chain kit already to go into it. It appears that he has lost interest or ran out of cash so is selling as is where is? What would you pay for it? What will it cost to repair? I am assuming that once replaced the engine should be reliable for another 100k kms? Also are the repair kits any better than the OEM?

I have enjoyed reading this and to be fair, I think its time for another BMW and an E46 is on the cards. To be fair my old E46 was a very sharp handling car, sharper than my e92 or E36 (All 5 of them). Plus my daughter who will be of driving age in a year or so and usually never talks about cars said, "Dad I don't want a boring car, and I want a manual, can I drive your Purple BMW (E34540is)?" I said no you cant. "She said what about your old Blue BMW could I get one of those?". Maybe......
