  1. I went with the full 11 piece kit. The rear parts are definately lighter and the bushes have less movement. I did the rear first and there was an improvement in the way the rear felt. That said the M3 front conversion is quite an improvement mid corner understeer is all but eliminated.
  2. The three LED strips have gone so need to replace the unit. Let me know as I need to replace it sooner rather than later.
  3. That's a sharp price, who are they?
  4. I have just bought an E70 40 with the style 333 20 x 11 20 x 10 wheel combo. These bad boys take the 315 35 x 20 and 275 40 x 20 tires. Just wondering if the ride on 19's is better and whether the tire cost is noticeably lower. What setups have you used?
  5. I have bough an X5 40D in Auckland and need to get it to Wellington. If anyone is planning a trip South I would be happy to fund their journey. I realise Covid will impact this but happy to discuss. Fuel will obviously be free and can help get to the Airport, ferry hotel etc. Can also meet up the line, Palmy North Etc. If your escaping AKL let me know.
  6. Yes I agree, I went with a 40d 225kw 600nm. I did have a drive in a 35i and thought it a decent engine with enough torque but the 40d is a powerhouse Diesel and won me over. It will tow a boat and have 5 mountain bikes on the back so the Diesel made more sense in the end.
  7. Yes I want to keep the price under 30k if possible.
  8. https://www.trademe.co.nz/2987582731 Looking at it as the new family car, any things to lbe aware of? Full NZ service history with BMW dealers.
  9. Does anyone have experince with the N55 powered E70? I am in the market for a diesel but I have found a few 35i's that tick the specification boxes. I assume it will be a nice drive with the turbo torque and zf 8 speed. Curoius to hear about reliability and fuel economy.
  10. I am looking for an X5 and this is the spec I prefer. 2010/2011 LCI, with ZF8speed and Upgrade I drive. Diesel. White, Silver red Blue but not Black. 7 seater. M Sport is preferable but not a deal breaker. Much prefer NZ new or UK depending on service history. Towbar. Prefer under 120ks If you are moving one on let me know.
  11. Don't get hung up on specific power output per cc, its completely irrelevant when you consider the engines weight and external dimensions are all but the same. You could consider a straight M54 swap. There is a bit of fiddling with the DME but all the fixes are out there. The Getrag 220 will live behind a 3l engine, maybe not forever but plenty see duty in similar applications. If you go to a ZF for the trans then safely pushing the M54 past its 170kw stock rating is reasonably easy with a good exhaust system and DME tune. I have had the pleasure of owning and or driving E36's with M50's, M52's and M50 3l setups. By far an away the 3l Stroker was the best of the lot, it just had more everywhere. It did have a tuned DME that allowed it to rev a bit higher and with a nice set of headers it was enthusiastic and had a very nice note as well. Don't get caught up in the Purist BS, longer stroke motors can rev and be full of character, just look at the S54.
  12. If you do a crank swap to go to 3l then you may as well play with the cams. A bit of googling will show you how M5x engines can use each others cams and a bit more lift and duration can wake up the 3l stroker combo. As mentioned headers and ITB's would be well worthwhile. With 3L capacity the M50B25 intake swap starts making sense and it wont have the capability of ITB's it is proven in 240HP+ stroker setups. There is also a bit of scope with tuning the 3L stroker combo, raising the redline a bit and adding a bit more timing, The end result is a very responsive engine with decent power and torque.
  13. Just the opposite I experience less wear on the outside edges due to better geometry.
  14. The M52 B25 lacks the rich torque curve the B28 has. Ironically the M50B25 has similar power to the M52B28 but again its in a torque hole, that being said if they are buzzing past 4k rpm there is little to differentiate them As to the M54b30 vs the M52B28, having owned both I am unsure why the B28 would be more highly regarded, both rev cleanly to redline and the B30 has very nice torque delivery. putting an M54 crank rods and pistons into a B25/28 is a popular swap.
  15. I spent a few weeks over Xmas exploring some of the lesser traveled roads of the South Island with fellow Biimmer enthusiast Boytie. Had a grand old time saw some bits of NZ that most don't and got to test our skills and abilities on some interesting roads and passes. My bike is a 2012 BMW F800GS and Boytie rode his old F650GS. The F650 had a couple of issues but none that stopped us for too long. The 800 was a model of reliability and handled the dirt very well.
  16. MHD uses the US reference for Octane Mon vs Ron so 93 Octane is 98 Octane for us here.
  17. Have finally decided to buy an X5 to replace the Highlander. My wants and budget are pointing me to an LCI 2010/11 E70 diesel. A few on TM at present but curious to hear from owners as to their experience with this model. Being an LCI it will have the N57 engine and ZF 8Speed. What do i need to look out for or avoid? What about Imports, Britain vs Japan? I do like the M Sport package but could live with a non M sport version. It will do a bit of towing as well.
  18. Install the Arm with the solid bushing at ride height.
  19. I am quite liking it now especially on the Coupe's not so sure about it on a sedan.
  20. Who spotted the M3 Touring?
  21. Charge pipe is pretty straight forward, I have done one on an M135i and it was about a two and a half hour job. I am sure you will really enjoy it.
  22. The E36 Market is certainly on the rise. I had no trouble selling my 328i for good money and to be fair could have sold it 3 times over. People are starting to see how good these cars are now.
