  1. I know you said will not split above. But I'm gunna be "that guy". Would you sell the ZF box? Completely understand if not. I just feel if you sold the coupe by itself, the the extras as their own listings, you'd gain more that $8.5k.
  2. The drive train components stated above, are they installed on the car?
  3. Did you get to the bottom of this issue J?
  4. I had a M40B16 in my E30. After dealing with sourcing parts and noisy hydraulic lifters etc. I decided I needed to look at a replacement. Was originally looking for a M20 as well as the M5x swap seemed daunting. But as you said, they're also getting fairly rare and finding a decent low km one with a service history was even harder. So I Googled and Googled, stalked @Nick065 and @_ethrty-Andy_ profiles. Pulled the trigger on a lower km M52B28 E36 with a dodgy gearbox (ended up just being low on AT fluid) for quite cheap. Pulled the required parts from it that I needed. Sold parts off it to recover costs then sold the shell. Fast forward a couple months and I had a running car that surprisingly quick! Was pretty proud of the effort. Now, parts are everywhere at local scrap yards and new parts are quite cheap from the likes of FCP Euro.
  5. Hasn't quite gone through cert yet Nick, but will have a cert if/when I sell. Will cert it on the 15x7s and probably a set of 16x8s as well to make life a bit easier. So $12k seems like a solid figure for the time being? Your touring would fetch more I'd say Nick. This has been handy for insurance purposes also. I will need to give Swann a call as I think it's only insured for $6k. Wife's response.. "Like hell we're selling the E30" ?. Life's tough but something has got to go. E36 is good for putting k's on to and from work (700kms/month), parts are cheap and plentiful. E91 is handy for car seats/bunnings/pickapart hauls/camping/airport trips. I'm just not organised enough to look after 4x Wofs, regos, servicings etc if I were to buy another car.
  6. Another one of those annoying "what's it worth?" questions, so i will apologize in advance. In light of me realizing I need to buy my dream car sooner rather than later, I'm weighing up ways to fund it. The car in question is a 1990 FL E30 316i manual coupe. The car has been M52 swapped. As the car isn't really run of the mill, I can't think of what it's worth. There have been a couple of 24 valve swapped E30s on TradeMe/Facebook but I haven't kept an eye on them to see if they sold or what they sold for. The best way to find out I guess would be to $1Res it and let the market tell me but a) I'm no where near brave enough and b) If its not worth a lot I'd rather just keep it. I'll bullet point some details below to make it easier to read. -Bronzit Beige, rust free fairly straight body. 200,100 kms. Original paint. NZ new, have the original purchase receipts and ownership manual from BMW and details of owners since. -Certified M52B28 with 170,000 kms, no proof. Getrag 240. Tuned DME to remove EMS, rev hang etc. -325i brakes fitted with slotted rotors. Braided brake lines. 51mm XYZ street coilovers. Reinforced shock mounts. Adjustable camber plates. Sway bars front and rear. -15"x7" Euroweave wheels (no caps) mint condition, New tyres. -Comfort cloth interior. No rips, all good condition. Tan goodness for that '80s vibe. Tiny crack on dash. -Z3 rack with Corsa steering shaft. E36 P/S gear used. -Medium case 25% factory LSD (can't quite remember ratio). -Smiley headlights. Battery to boot conversion using 6 cyl gear. SE side skirts and boot lip. Sport Steering wheel. IS front lip. Colour matched bumpers and rear valance. Electric fan fitted to remove viscous. That's all the details I can think of for now. I'd appreciate any comments or messages. My guess would be (I hope) >$10k.
  7. My old man is looking for a new (2nd hand) tow hack and has asked me what the X5s go like. Anything has to be better than the current Ford Explorer. His tick list sounds the same as OPs with reference to budget. I've done a bit of research and was wondering if people have had much experience towing with their beasts. He basically needs it to daily to and from work rural 30km and tow a 2 ton trailer once a fortnight. Budget would be ~$10k so I'm guessing an E53. I love the M54B30 but don't think it'd hack the weight of the car + trailer.
  8. @M3AN Yea these are curbed, but are easily fixed on the lathe. Not too expensive apparently either. That was my original plan, but i want to get my E30 finished before our wee fella turns up in May. Tyre shop is a good idea. I need to really probe this guy to see how keen he is before i commit too much of my time, running around Auckland.
  9. I wouldn't say ultra rare. They're BBS RC's 18" x 10" & 18" x 8.5".
  10. Have recently had someone message me on Facebook regarding some wheels I have for sale. He has given me his address (Texas based) and has asked to use PayPal once I have a shipping quote sussed. Which leads me on to two questions... Firstly, how do you know if this person is legitimate or not? I guess being the seller it's harder for him to scam me, but I was wondering if he was able to reverse the PayPal payment once he knows I've started the shipping process. Secondly, does any one have any experience sending things of this size overseas? The wheels measure 18"x10" and are without tyres. Any recommendations or ideas of pricing would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Can rate this set big time. Had mine for approximately 12 years. Multiple engine swaps, suspension swaps etc. Abused most weekends and still going strong.
  12. On the hunt for some coilovers. Pipe dreams would have me buying the Ground Control setup with the hubs but unfortunately shipping/tax would be insane. Does anyone have any adjustables they're willing to part with? I'll consider anything at this stage. Or alternatively 51mm housings, and I'll probably go see Speed Factor in Tauranga. Thanks!
  13. Wondering if there was any update on this or if anyone had decided to fab their own? Had a close shave recently...
  14. So the SRS setup isn't a one stop shop @WYZEUP? Damn, that's disappointing. These parts are obviously rare and there's 10+ people all hawking them by the looks ? 4 lug it may have to be.
  15. Yea to be honest I just want to have my car certified before Christmas so it looks like I'll have to deal with 4x100. I'm unsure on those SRS concept lollipops and I'm unsure how the machined hubs would go with our cert process. Definitely a compromise on brakes and wheel choice but ?‍♂️.
  16. I'm in your boat Rob! This thread has given me the motivation to finally start pushing mine through the dreaded cert process. Keep the posts coming!
  17. Yea initially. Was sent a fixed priced offer today from the seller.
  18. Just received a fixed price offer from the seller for this at the winning bid price. The conspirator in me thinks of a "mate bidding up" gone wrong? Alternatively the winner could have also pulled out. Either way, I wouldn't be willing to spend $2k on this.
  19. Long shot but thought I'd try here. The state of decent 4 lug wheels available for my E30 over the past year in NZ has driven me to consider a 5 lug swap. I'm after the front struts, LCAs and spindles from an obd2 E36 M3. Cheers!
  20. Fortunately the diagnosis was correct! Finally got around to changing my mates starter. Started straight away. Thanks everyone for your help.
  21. As long as periodic servicings stated by Autosure are caries out by a MTA assured mechanic.
  22. For me with my E91? Yes. But totally depends on each person. I purchased the 3 year warranty because I wasn't familiar with anything newer than an E46 at the time or repair costs if a motor/gearbox was to implode. I'm the first owner since it's import from Japan and I didn't have a clue on the reliability of the N52N or its gearbox. Older models I don't bother because their engines etc are a dime a dozen (mostly) on TM or a wreckers. Since my ownership I've had problems with misfires (replaced coils & plugs), valve cover gasket due to leaks, various suspension components due to noise and idler pulleys as they are notorious for sending N52's to an early grave. Yes I could have given Autosure a call, but wasn't worth the excess.
  23. They're not going to give you the stamp if you do the servicing unfortunately. As far as Autosure is concerned they're after someone reliable to protect their risk. Needs to be MTA assured. If you look through the Autosure leaflet it will explain what needs servicing when and by who.
  24. I typically do all the maintenence on my BMWs. For a couple of reasons a) gives me a chance to check the condition of other components b) cheaper c) fun and interesting if all goes to plan d) I know the work is actually being carried out aka I don't trust alot of mechanics. I also have Autosure Insurance on our newer wagon, so had to succumb to taking it in for a service to stamp the book. Found it quite pricey for the actual work being carried out and then when I got it home I found the lid of the air box not installed. Well known and recommended BMW servicing establishment too. Have been using FCP Euro to order parts. Have a good, cheap range and parts typically arrive within a week. Obviously dependent on your situation/space I'd recommend investing in some tools and DIY if the budget is tight.
