  1. We may have been tracing each others steps by the sounds! Have been and looked at the Russian guys cars. Was amazed at his range but was also disappointed in some of the ricey mods on them and there seemed to be a little bit of backyard mechanics going on (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Test drove that navy 325i wagon. Absolute sack of a car. My saggy headlining E36 would've given it a run for its money. Rear RH window didn't work, rough interior, transmission was hesitant, dash lit up like a Christmas tree (he assured me all the ABS lights, traction control lights and engine lights were to notify you its due for a service...) and like all Jap imports it had a hideous aftermarket nav system jimmied up to the dash. Didnt get the best vibe from the dealer.
  2. If you don't mind me asking, how grown up are the kids? Ever had to use car seats in it?
  3. Still on the hunt. To make things harder for myself, I've also started looking at E87s. Looked at an '06 130i Msport, such a nice car but the dealership was an absolute let down. Also the flaking badge, deep scratches, nil service history (or booklet), incomplete toolkit and exhaust valve tick turned me off. My #1 choice after driving several would have to be an E91. Now to find the right one...
  4. Being an owner of all three (e30, e36, e46) I feel really confused. Our e30 coupe cost 3x as much as the e36, is way "cooler" alot quicker, manual and fairly timeless but I'm drawn towards the ugly duckling, the e36. As a consequence that's where the attention has been going. I like the lines. The cleanliness of the interior and engine bay. E46 is definitely a the least favorite child sitting in in the rain.
  5. Forgot to mention I also changed the trans fluid and filter. "jatco jerk" remained so manual swap is on the cards. I've done an electric fan conversion on my E30 M52 swap, clears up so much room. Not a bad idea on this as well, cheers. Might look into vanos seals mid-term. Doesn't seem to be giving me trouble right now. Any way to see if it's working as it should? Doesn't seem to be any noticeable crossovers etc. Do you have a preferred engine oil? If it doesn't cause too much pain, care to share the consequences of the pulleys giving up?
  6. +1 for Silverdale Radiators. Good price and of OEM quality. Ran for about a year so far with no worries at all. as said, sourcing one from the states might be a pain due to shipping/warranty/duty.
  7. Short of the long... After the recent purchase of 1995 E36 328i coupe, I'm curious as to how I could get the best reliability and fuel economy from it. Long of the long...The drive to work is about 30 mins of open road driving in a rural ish area (hence the quest for reliability, a breakdown would suck). Currently getting ~750kms. I've ordered some regular maintenance items from pelican parts; spark plugs, oil/air/fuel/cabin filters, trim clips (more rattles than i could've imagined), valve cover gasket, paint touch up kit and a couple other random bits. Recently fitted new radiator, thermostat, metal impeller water pump and BMW coolant. I've bought little aesthetic pieces for it like some BBS RT wheels, MSport front lip, leather rear seats (on the hunt for fronts) and plan on reupholstering the headlining and door cards (I'm going to need a new daily, for my new daily ). Look forward to hearing any hints, tips or tricks.
  8. Definitely good value for $300 right? Will make a good project, will look bloody good once you're done.
  9. Would be a good project for someone over the summer. Need a little bit of work which is what turned me off. Not mine, located at pick-a-part takanini. Manager there said he'd take $300. 17"x8" et20 square set. Tyres look OK.
  10. Do you have a listing/post regarding these wheels eliongater?
  11. Are you able to measure the outside diameter of them?
  12. Surely he meant $2k? But then again, that would probably be too cheap. I'm stumped. That's getting close to E46 M3 territory (totally different kettle of fish), I know what I'd rather have.
  13. Thanks for that. I was just curious as mine seemed to struggle to fit properly into the clips resulting in the lip being slightly proud. Perhaps I should just purchase new clips from somewhere and tidy up the recesses in the lip.
  14. @bga, how did you find the fit? Did it fit nicely into all the clips?
  15. Good morning team, Looking at moving on our powerful and noble steed, the E46 318i sedan. We're really keen on sticking with BMWs, but switching up to a touring. So far, the E61 & E91 have caught our eye and are in our price range. What I can't figure out is why the E91 seems to be more expensive? E61 seems to be a lot of car for the money. Apparently a 200kg difference which sounds hefty (based of N52B25 as example). My buying checklist: Car will be used as the main car. Used for weekly commutes with odd weekend road trips. Usually carry the two of us, sometimes some friends. After the boot space to haul car parts/weber/tent etc. Engine: 6 cylinder. More familiar with the M5x series. Clueless about the N5x. Diesel would be nice but the price goes up. Most likely go for b25. Would like better optioned versions motorsport/highline. Gearbox: no preference. Colour: lighter the better. Interior: anything but cloth. Preferably dark. Clueless with the new tech as we own an e30, e36 and e46. Any input on iDrive would be appreciated also. Look forward to hearing opinions and preferences.
  16. Super tidy! If you don't mind me asking, what are your wheel/tyre sizes? Fitment is nice in my opinion.
  17. After seeing this post I got excited and bought it. Still unsure what the market value is for these so time will tell if it's a good deal. Either way I'm stoked with it. Exterior is mint, interior is sh*te. Managed the 1400km or so battle throughout many detours from Christchurch to Auckland the weekend. Was a cool trip with my partner (previously mentioned, Bianca). Time now to overhaul the coolant system, trans etc. Photo taken on Lewis Pass, awaiting the exploding chemical truck to be cleared.
  18. Would kill for electric rear windows. Good luck with the sale.
  19. Are wheels two and three curbed? Or are they superficial black marks?
  20. Yea sorry I was referring to the $1400. Good deal?
  21. Thoughts on what it went for? Good deal? Anyone go view it?
  22. I'd be so keen on this if I could guarantee it'd get me safely back to Auckland. In saying that I do need to use some annual leave...
  23. Agent75, the link for the radiator above is the same as mine. It seems to do a good job. Running water wetter and bmw blue coolant (hasn't seen a sustained thrashing around a track yet so time will tell). Andy do you know what the story is with the temp gauge? I had a heart attack when I first drove my E30 M52 as the needle skyrocketed towards the red. The needle bounces around and doesn't seem to reflect the actual temp. I've used a trustworthy Fluke Infrared Thermometer (accuracy is +/-1%) and temp measured ~90°c (88° thermostat). Also since the fan only runs intermittently on warm days (88° switch).
