It doesn't seem to be dripping on the belt but more behind it, the car has a pretty good service history but no record of the waterpump being replaced so i'm going to do it anyway but just in case it could be something else was checking suggestions
-
Hey guys, thought i had a leak from the thermostat housing so replaced the o-ring and rubber gasket (as they were due anyway) took it for a drive and came home to discover it still leaking coolant (constant dripping) behind the belt drive, after quite a bit of searching i found the location from somewhere around the waterpump. Does this sound like waterpump failure, or does anyone have any other suggestion? TIA

Traction control kicks in round corners
cliffdunedin replied to greenalleycat's topic in Maintenance
This is what i'd be checking especially if you have hit a curb or a knock from the side of the wheels... your symptoms sounds very similar to a car i used to have and that was the issue. -
Welcome to the forum mate, imo the e39 looks better than its contemporary bros! Your e39 seems to sit quite high! Are those 17's on it?

Out of interest what filler and urethane did you use... That floor looks real good! Well done mate/

Awesome job! The trouble i've found in the past, is that when i start DIYing (esp the demo'ing) i demo way more than really needs to be done or can be fixed within a few weeks then get put on blast from the wife for the several months it actually takes me too complete it... or, maybe it's just me haha

I totally agree with you Andy and think this post is a great idea... Why shouldn't those wanting to learn and do their own work be able to share our resources... now who has an m52 cam locking tool before I buy one off the bay?!

Anyone know what type/brand of chains will fit my 18' M-par's? First time I haven't had a 4x4 for years and heading to the Ski fields this week, I doubt i'll need them as there is NO snow lol but always better to be safe than sorry and can only find google info on snow socks not chains.

HELP! whats this problem with rear tail light (drivers side)
cliffdunedin replied to BMA-HO's topic in Maintenance
Pretty much this will be the cause ^^^ Remove the entire light and housing, check all bulbs and for any exposed wires or corrosion, check the wire connector and it's contacts, test it plugged in but not installed. this should hopefully help. -
Yeah I did clear them... I might grab a new one so i can do it while doing the Vanos.
-
Yeah, Sensor was OEM from Milland.
-
I'm lookin at doing my Vanos this week on the m52 and just scanned my car, it threw out 2 codes - 41 Camshaft sensor and - 37 output stage for oxygen sensor heater, sensor 2... any of you guys know if these are Vanos related and will be sorted by me fixing the Vanos seals... I only replaced the camshaft position sensor less than a year ago, just after i bought it which made me wonder whether its to do with the Vanos as opposed to the sensor, Google wasn't much help. TIA Cliff

Pretty much did this as well as replacing all 4 bulbs (even though they were fine) and they are now working fine, thanks for the help, pretty weird issue?!

I had the rs reps for my e36 in 5x120! Bought them off mag n Tyre (zenetti) and were a lot lighter then I was expecting, quality seemed pretty good too. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Thanks for the reply guys. The brake lights on all works fine but just the running lights that are playing up. I'm outta town for work till tomorrow so will have a good look when I get home at those suggestions. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Nah not celis lights and no OBC light errors, just find it weird that the other lights are just fine, just the night rear lights not going.
-
Coming home from work last night my neighbour (who was following us) let us know that the rear lights on the e39 were not working, i had a quick look and saw it was flicking on intermittently and very dim, all the other lights are working fine just the rear night lights (Window, both sides and spoiler), i checked the connector and it's not corroded, the bulbs and they're fine, no OBC warning, quick scan and no fault codes. Maybe an earth somewhere? Any ideas/help would be awesome, Cheers!

Are you running Synthetic oil? My e36 had the same problem when i changed to thinner oil, after a change to 15/40w the noise stopped.

Hey guys, scanned my car yesterday and it threw a couple of O2 and Cam sensor codes that i'll look at again once i do the Vanos over the long weekend but one that confused me was the Auxiliary water pump (code 21) after a bit of a look i couldn't locate it and on real OEM it seems i don't have one, i don't have any issues around heating, AC or engine temp. Anyone know if this is correct and whether my scanner might have picked it up wrong.

Angel Eyes for E36 - Sacrilege or Sweetness?
cliffdunedin replied to handgrenade's topic in Appearance
I love the look of e36's and personally think that whatever you'd like to do to your car is your choice, I like subtle changes and IMO would probably drop it a couple of mm from the m-suspension (maybe due anyway) replace the wood grain interior, put the wheels back to the motorsport ones, stick a Remus exhaust on, M-spoiler or a spoiler lip and prob euro PPlates. Evo M3, still an awesome car whatever you do too it.
