I'm seriously eyeing this up once I've shifted my current vehicle. I noticed the price has dropped by $500 in last week.

Sold my 130i last year and dearly miss it. My partner has given me the OK to pick up another one as long as it's an auto. Been keeping an eye out on trademe & Facebook and came across this wreckers ad. A few of you seem to be in the market for a spoiler....
-
Morning! I should have updated this ad sooner. Sold the 130i for asking price to a chap just down the road from me. Replaced it with a LWB Pajero. After being so precious with the BMW and previous cars, it's almost a relief having a big, old 4x4 to generally abuse and not care about!

I'm kind of hoping I can sell the car + bits as a package to a BMW fan via this site. If it gets to the point that I really want to shift the car and advertise it on Facebook/trademe I'd offer up the BMWP parts here first. You'll be the first to know if/when that happens ?

Of course! Thanks ? I think a second 130i would be a great addition to your family ?

After what I paid for it: $12,700 I haven't had it for long (just before lockdown) but I'm thinking of selling the 130i. It only gets runs at the weekend as I walk to work and I'm thinking I might get more use out of an offroader. Man Maths may still prevail and allow me to have 2 cars but its just not a sensible option at the moment. Anyway: ~107,000km Lovely condition - few imperfections (stone chips, slight scrape on the bumper, very mild kerbing on alloys) BMWP Exhaust - Brilliant noise, a little louder on cold start-up but then is quiet until you really get on the throttle (original exhaust can come with the car but has been chopped so a little fabrication would be required) BMWP Air Intake - Looks the part. Was on the car when purchased (as with exhaust) so no idea how it really changed the performance/noise. Recent tyres - Hankook Ventus Primes Clean WOF from Feb 2020 Rego out in Oct but I'll be adding 6 months when I get round to it

What's in the box....?!

https://www.kaizenworks.co.nz/ Been out to these guys for a chat about the exhaust on my 130i. Didn't end up using their services but they were knowledgeable & friendly. Nice clean workshop too!

I wasn't aware of the cars & coffee! I have other obligations on Saturday so sadly won't make it ?

Just heard back from the wreckers regarding the cover. They want $50! I'll put up with the hole until I find a more reasonablely priced one

Very happy! I got the gear knob from schmiedmann.com after reading through this (https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1492392) thread. It replaced a BMW Performance knob which looked great but I didn't like the feel. My new one is described as the 'weighted broomstick'. It's actually a little lighter than the performance one but the added height makes the feel far nicer. The car came with the alcantara boot which looks pretty sleek!

I hadn't realised they were 135i wheels ? The tow cover - it was missing when I bought the car. I'd pretty much forgotten about it until you mentioned it..... Might need to get back on to the wreckers!

Afternoon everyone! I'm finally happy enough with my 130i that I want to start showing it off. I had a bit of a saga with the exhaust system that was covered here: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/63437-130i-exhaust-mods-by-previous-owner/ The jist of that topic was that the previous owner had removed the centre muffler which caused a drone that I absolutely hated. I found an OEM muffler in a wreckers yard and had it welded in this week. Bliss! No more drone or anti-social cruising noise ? Anyway, this is my first BMW and biggest displacement engine I've owned so I'm loving the responsiveness of the engine and the compact size. My previous loves have been turbo japanese wagons so this is a total change! It wasn't until I joined the forum that I realised how lucky I am to have grabbed a car with the BMWP Intake & Muffler. It makes a brilliant noise but I've never sat in a standard 130i so no idea how different it is. I'm determined to never post this car in the 'Project' forum as I'm really happy with it. I have no need for an LSD which seems to be the most common 'serious' upgrade. Once the suspension starts giving up then I imagine I'll be eyeing up the Birds setup but until then I'm delighted with the standard car.

Well, I'm finally a happy man! Sourced an original centre muffler from a wreckers and had it fitted this week. No more drone while under load and a much more respectable cruising note. It's made such a difference to how I feel driving the car around. Delighted! Thanks to everyone that chimed in and offered advice ?

Just having a peak around the car and shined my torch down the tail pipes. I see there's an open butterfly valve in the LHS exhaust. Is this right or should it be closed until Im at higher revs or WOT? I've tried researching the operation of the valve but can't quite work out exactly how/when it's meant to be open or closed. Thanks for letting me pester you all with this topic!

I'll keep an eye out for you around Welly ? I'm in a black 130i (mostly standard) so will give you a wave if we cross paths.
-
I'm after the centre silencer for my 130i. I believe a few of the N52 variations share this part so if you happen to have one lying around after modifying your exhaust then please let me know! Pic from @Jacko showing the exact part I'm after.

Quad pipes! How do they sound?
-
How do you go about resetting the DME?
-
Thanks for that. An lsd & aftermarket suspension setup is on the radar but won't be happening anytime soon!
-
@M3AN Have you compared your setup to a standard 130i? Just wondering how much it changes the car. Sorry if this has been covered in another topic but I didn't realise you could squeeze more from the N52 ?
-
Nah, I get the drone regardless of gear choice. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't live somewhere as hilly as Wellington ?
-
A short clip of the exhaust. I quite the like note in the video but it doesn't highlight drone when the engine is under load. The hunt is on for a centre section. I actually found one in a wreckers yard in Wellington but it is on a 130i with over 130k and has definitely seen better days! A shor

Just over $300..... Don't worry, I have no intention of meddling with the BMWP muffler. I've become aware of how hard they are to come by! Thanks for your help @M3AN I reckon I'll swing by another shop and be more direct with what I'm after and see what they suggest but I'm not inclined to spend much more to gamble on the outcome!
