  1. I’m not too familiar with Minis but how much of a hassle is it to replace the bushings on the front?
  2. Mate failed WOF from a bit of play on the front lower control arms. Anyone know where I can source out front lower control arm rear bushes for (R56) 2006 Mini Cooper S? Trademe showed some from superpro, anyone know this shop?
  3. Yeah, apart from what I mentioned previously about the rust spots (which he treated when he got the car) and the engine needing more time turning over, it did seem like it was looked after well. He had some spare parts leftover to give with the car as well that wasn’t mentioned in the listing. Good bloke and seemed like an honest sale, whoever got it was lucky.
  4. Reserve was 15k. Was really keen on that car, really gutted that I missed out, apparently someone called him shortly after and they worked out a deal so have changed hands now. I thought it was too late in the night to hassle someone to negotiate so left it til this morning, guess I was wrong. Be curious to see if it was someone from here that got it?

I studied down south so have a few friends that I can ask favours from. Would be keen to hear out what it needs done to be road legal.

Realistically I’d rather pay for anything less than 15k and build it up rather than pay for a really tidy example. Really prefer coupes but if it comes with other options would consider sedan - just changed the title to reflect that now. I understand that that budget rules out most e30s, but feel free to send me tidy examples that you think are outside my budget so I can drool at it instead haha 🤤
  7. If you think about it, it makes sense. It’s not a collector level car so no one who’s stacked would drive the price up.
  8. Expanding my horizon, but know nothing about Mercs except that they’re expensive to live with 😂. The one I linked does seem like it’s fairly expensive. I’d probably take it if it was closer to 10k and if parts are easy to get (are they?) as it seems fairly tidy. If you can convince me enough I might take you up on your offer 😏

Looking at what’s out there since prices are going astronomical. Must have wof (or at least close to having a wof) and reg, non sunroof, straight body, minimal to nil rust, and AC (preferably one that blows cold 😂). Outside of that, fair game for all, project car or not. Cheers!
  10. @gjm @Olaf @Sammo @Eagle Thought this thread would be more appropriate for my question. Thoughts on this example? Seems fairly tidy. Wonder if parts are as plentiful as e30s. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/mercedesbenz/auction-3064660165.htm
  11. That tech one got pulled, wonder if it sold via offer?
  12. @leichtbau I asked and he explained it more in detail why it’s all good but essentially it’s running the factory ECU from the 2.5L.
  13. For reference, it was this car I was talking about. And don’t worry, I didn’t even take it that way. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-3081744318.htm It both does and doesn’t help. I guess where I’m getting at is if it’s the engine not being maintained rather than the engine ageing so to speak, then it should be somewhat reversible by replacing the parts that have worn out? Or is it that if the engine takes noticeable time to turn over, it’s beyond repair / salvaging?
  14. Was this the one that just sold a few weeks ago on TM? Looks like the same photo from the auction.
  15. Genuine question here as I’m new to this. What would you maintain to be able to prevent that? Replacing plugs? Injectors? Pump? Regulator? Would that mean that it’s “fixable”?
  16. That’s what all racists say. Jokes aside, I think if a product is 💩 then call it as such, don’t need to identify it with a certain people group. Anyway, being too PC is tiring so I’ll stop there. Your little rant about ducks is making me want to eat roast duck
  17. @E30 325i Rag-Top Not too sure if you’ve viewed the e30 you had a bidding party with but I viewed it yesterday. While one of them looks alright, not too sure if the other rust spot should be of concern (2nd photo). Wonder how much it’d cost to repair. Engine also didn’t turn over first time around even though it was already warm (Ross said it hasn’t happened before even when left for a few weeks), and generally takes a bit more time to start - may just be the engine showing its age.
  18. This. Like you previously mentioned, China makes all kinds of products, some are cheaply made because the company themselves want to take shortcuts, others are reasonably made. Just a matter of what the company/manufacturer’s standards are. Almost everything we own/use in the western world is made by China, so apart from the stereotypical jokes, I don’t think genuinely associating the country with crap products is 100% fair.
  19. Accidentally owning an e30 can be almost impossible nowadays
  20. @E30 325i Rag-Top Mate are you having a bidding party by yourself?
  21. My simple mind was hoping no one else would take notice of it. Of course it was only a matter of time 😂.
