FDP - Fender Discussion Pages - musician's forum. I'm Dr Rog because I have a PhD, not because I'm a medical Dr.

Roffles!! On other boards I am Dr Rog (true).

LOL- you were damn lucky with that cop. I'd make a crap cop, 'cos if anyone spoke to me like that I would certainly find something wrong with their car or driving - somehow.
-
I put them in my E36 but I wondered at the time if they were actually 100W or really 100W equivalent, which is an indication of relative brightness, rather than power consumption. I wouldn't bother again.
-
No, I haven't tried it. Isn't driving without a speedo illegal? Don't forget she trusted you - why betray her trust?? Friendship and trust are important things to have/give. Just an old fart's opinion.
-
Those Yank bumpers on cars suck turnips! Look what they did to the MGBGT and the Jaguar XKE. Totally ruined the cars.
-
Well the yanks are all better drivers than Kiwis. Just ask them...
-
I always get one. Another advantage of being an old fart!
-
LOL! I saw it on telly last night and wondered if exactly what you described might happen.
-
LOL! You have no idea how much fun it is, mate! You get away with so much, 'cos everyone expects grumpy old men to be, well - grumpy. They all think we're senile, but the jokes on them, 'cos we're getting away with saying what's really on our mind without wrapping it up in a velvet PC crap blanket.

Ah, bliss. Be it ever so humble - I'm right at home with my car.

If drilling holes, do try to NOT do what I did in my Fiat 124 Coupe in 1974 - drilling through the floor to create mounting holes for the belts and found out that the fuel line goes right where I wanted to fit the bolt. Somewhere, there's possibley still an old F124C with a piece of plastic tubing holding the fuel line together....

> Thanks for the great advice, just remembering why I spend such little time on this forum. LOL - that's why the smiley face was there, mate!! Apparently jokes need to be explained to some people...

If you pay more that $1k - 2k for a 20+ year old car, you're smegging mad!

My car is at the agents having some servicing - new brakes, coolant, brake fluid, wof etc. Meanwhile, I'm driving one of their loan cars - 1999 E39 520i. Drives nicely, but - I want my power back!! I didn't realise how sluggish the 2 litre cars were. I can't imagine what you 540 guys would feel like driving a 520 - you'd want to get out and walk.
-
... instantly recognisable by any fan. I guess I'm not a fan.
-
LOL - I listened all the way through and got just ONE.
-
I thought the yellow car one was much more interesting than the ice slope thing, that only held my attention for a few seconds.

"Brake light circuit failure" - What does this mean?
Jazzbass replied to jjs's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
The E36 has a two pole brake switch. One drives the lights, the other the computer. This is prone to failure. Its a very cheap fix. Just get a new switch from your local agent and its a 5 min job to change over. The switch is at the top of the brake pedal. I had to do it both of my E36s. -
When did you last change your brake fluid?

Is 'autostart' still legal here? I read in AA Magazine that there were moves to make it illegal, because, as you hinted, its a very dangerous feature and there have , according to the article, been several deaths associated with it.

Advanced vs my old copy of the 'basic' uSoft FS?Tied to the motion room vs my laptop? I haven't had the priviledge of trying their simulator, althouigh I have 'flown' a flight sim at Ohakea and also at Suwon AFB. Neither bore any resemblance at all to my uSoft FS. In those, I was able to take off fly and land with relative ease. I tended to crash rather more frequently with uSoft FS. To ME - there was a huge difference between the real FS and the home PC versions. You are obviously far better than me at computer games and therefore find the differences to be closer than I do. I did say I sucked at it and that it was my opinion. I respect your right to hold a diffeernt opinion. All that said, I have a retired friend who is devoted to his FS. When he tried out the ANZ 727 FS, he found it very easy and very similar to his home setup. Funnily enough he took a trail at an aero club and didn't enjoy the real thing at all. Strange.

I'm happy with the standard BMW one in my car.
-
Is it dependant on normal use? For instance - there are 8765.76 hours in a year. I sometimes use my car to pick up work-related people from the airport. That amounts to maybe 10 hours per year. Can I claim 0.11% of my insurance as commercial? Is my car then uninsured for 0.11% of the time?

I've bought/tried several driving simulation games. I totally suck at them all! Similarly, I suck at flight simulators. That amazed me, as I used to fly light panes and had my private pilots licence. I am left with the opinion that such simulators for home game use are rather sub-optimal in their execution. Cars and planes just do not behave in the same way as computer games make out.
