  1. New nostrils for the 530 and scored a broken HVAC unit to pillage all the buttons off the have a stock pile and replace some currently busted ones in the car. With some gentle pressure these guys pop right out in tact so replacing the current problem ones will be easy.
  2. Yeah I have high cluster and didnt realize there was a "low" cluster type. 2 weeks in to 5 series ownership and learning about all subtle the differences lol. Still keen to hear how the android unit install goes. Cheers
  3. horses or courses i think @Eagle the unit you've linked there is very similar nearly identical to the Eonon unit I've been looking at. Which is nice for an android set up but would require me to loose the MID Radio with OBC functions as mentioned above. I cannot see anywhere in the functionality of either Android unit where this OEM OBC functionality is retained? I see from your other post about you awesome looking manual conversion, that your dash is similar config to mine, so keen to know how you go with this swap. My current thinking is addition of Bluetooth functionality (as most of my music resides on my Phone), aftermarket amp to beef up the output to to some new speakers, whilst keeping the dash and OBC as factory as possible.
  4. Awesome man thanks for that. Yeah I have no nav, no dsp. A tape player and mid radio in the dash and a 6 CD stacker in the boot. Did You tuck the Grom behind the dash /radio? Dont mind losing CD changer as phone has 32gigs of music on it vs 6cds so it's a win for listening options whilst driving. And this option let's me spend more on speakers ?
  5. WTB E46 / E39 cloth sport seat material for refurbishment if my own seats. Specifically to repair the usual wear spots on the drivers side outer upper and lower seat bolsters. Happy to buy whole seats and strip them if required.
  6. Hi BozzaFC Did you get any further with this investigation / install? I'm keen to also add BT, USB etc but also retain the factory MID radio so i don't lose the OBC features and i don't want to massacre the dash. Some of the Eonon Android units looks ok but you do lose the OBC features....

    2000 E39..

if you're on FB, i spied this listing the other day https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/805772959804127/
  8. Cheers mate. It was a bit of a hidden gem so as I say, had to snap it up. The wheels will need some TLC at some stage. But they are very nice factory option.
  9. I did lol. Viewed a few in rapid succession but nothing that fit what I was looking for in terms of condition. then after a post on BMW club nz fb page a local enthusiast here in Hamilton mentioned he had a 530i, 2001. Owed It since 60000kms it's now done 150000kms, full service history and very well looked after. Took it for a drive it was awesome the 3 liter is so nice. While it wasnt the 2003 I was after it was such a nice example with everything else I wanted, plus room for some of my own tasteful mods, I had to snap it up.
  10. Cleaned up the E46 to put on display at a local car show, in hopes to get a few bites on a sale. (See for sale section) no bites, so is now on trade me - She looking real nice though and for less than 5k, it a great car for little money. On the new car front, i detailed the interior, and discovered some broken HVAC buttons ? good thing i like fiddling and bringing things back to looking mint

  14. Cheers mate, yeah market is a bit dry. that wagon is very nice just not sure i want a wagon...always been a sedan man incidentally (as a veteran;))do you know if a 2003 steering wheel can be fitted to an earlier model E39 ?
  15. Bump - getting a few hits and offers on FB, some aretoo much work and not in good shape. Any good examples out there? ive see the one Mikan has for sale not sure i want a wagon, in black.
  16. Looking buy - tidy, factory spec e39 sedan, 2003 production year and M Sport is a must. I passed on one a year or so ago and I regret it..With the family now bigger it's time to re look at moving on from the e46. Pic of the one I let go , was a beautiful individual grey, anyone know where this ended up?
  17. Cheers, just back seat and boot. I feel you on the baby seats, fiddly damn things.
  18. Any pics of the Interior? Hows aircon and any interior rattles?
  19. Carried a bit more than pictured, but you get the idea. Good cruise to Tokaanu, though National park, Ohakune then Hamilton. Over 2 days.
  20. Purchased a roof basket for my Family road trip this weekend. It looks pretty long next to the car, at 1.6M, but should hold all the extras nicely.
  21. Found a dirty great about 3 inches long gouge on the face of one of my wheels. Looks like something has hit it. Almost straight out from the lug nut hole. I am very mindful about curbing them so I know it's not that and they have a concave. Frustrating to say the least. Weirder yet was the area around the mark was distant free, yet the wheels are very distu so stood out like the dogs proverbials. Wheel magician time me thinks.
  22. Replaced my long broken and held in with double sided tape kidney grills on the e46 with matte black grilles. Looks pretty slick as an alternative to the chrome look she came with.
  23. Repaired all of the above issues this weekend Thanks to @BM WORLD for the center vent. Discovered upon fully replacing the instrument bracket that at some point, someone had cut the middle out of it to more easily (rather that Properly) fir wiring harness back there for aftermarket HU. Probably when it first came into the country.... which made the bracket much less solid than the complete one, good to have that sorted too. Every this is all back together noe with added low VOC tape strategically placed to minimize rattles and squeaks. next is take for a drive to enusre no major rattles in dash etc before putting last pieces of trim in place
